CHARMING CAPE PORPOISE COTTAGE - DOG FRIENDLY!

My family (two adults, one toddler) stayed in this home for a week. We had a lovely time.

The house itself was perfect for us. Downstairs, there is a small dining room, kitchen, full bath (with bathtub and laundry), bedroom, living room and private sitting room/office. Upstairs there is a master bedroom, 3/4 bath (shower only, no tub) and children's bedroom (2 twin size beds - and there is a folding crib in the closet - just perfect for our little one). There is also a lovely stone patio and a yard. The house is compact, but very intelligently designed. We think it would be perfect to bring the grandparents next time. They could have the downstairs guest room and retreat to the sitting room if the kids got to be too much.

The house is also very well furnished and supplied. The furniture is very comfortable and the linens are quite lovely (much nicer than in many vacation rentals we've stayed in). The kitchen has all the basics for cooking and serving (decent pots/pans, good plates/glasses/cutlery, bowls, a toaster, coffee maker, assorted baking sheets, a muffin pan, foil, plastic wrap, etc). When we visited, there were also basic non-perishable foods (flour, sugar, salt, cooking oil, some spices, etc) so all we needed to buy was perishables (meats, fruit/veg, dairy). If you have small children, you are in the right place because there is also a baby monitor, baby gate, booster chair, crib, bedrail and children's toys and books. You can pack light!

Cape Porpoise itself is a lovely place to visit. The village has everything you will want (restaurants, coffee shop, a small market that is good for snacks/milk [through I recommend going to Hannaford on the way into town for vegetables and meats]). We enjoyed wonderful hikes in various portions of the Rachel Carson National Wildlife refuge.

The house was generally very clean. We had one very minor issue with the cleaning crew. The owners were very quick to respond (this was a seriously minor issue clearly not the fault of the owners). The owners also provided good customer service before the rental by answering many questions.

Overall, we highly recommend this property. We're already considering a future visit with the grandparents.

Beautiful cottage set up for every need. Evening walks around the refuge or off to many great seafood spots. In the morning we took our golden Tanner to romp in the waves in one of several dog friendly beaches. In every way this was our best Maine vacation yet.

Fantastic vacation cottage! Very flexible owner who graciously accomodated our requests for a short rental week and a late check out. The house has everything you need. It was very clean, bedrooms and bathrooms were big enough to not feel cramped and there are some nice areas for families to hang out together as well as a private little office area if you want to be alone.
