About Mario Cornejo
Hi! this is Mario, your host. I was born in Peru but grew up in Southeast Asia (India, Sri Lanka, Nepal). Also lived in London and back in South America before moving to the States. I received a BFA in Dance and Theater from the University of Florida and danced professionally in the US and Canada for some years. Moved to NYC in 2008. I’m a member of the M.I.L.E (Music Is Love Exchange) a network of artists affecting change in the lives of disadvantaged children and families in the highlands of Guatemala and a Regional Coordinator in Peru for ONE BILLION RISING, a global campaign to end violence against women, rise for justice and promote gender equality. Locally I help run FOOD FOR LIFE, a community organization that serves meals to the hungry and homeless of Lower Manhattan at Tompkins Square Park.
Mario Cornejo purchased this studio in 2011
Why Mario Cornejo chose Lower East Side
Some years ago, a group us (artists, entrepreneurs and world travelers) sat down to brainstorm. The idea was to find a way to provide travelers an alternative to the often impersonal and priced up accommodations found in New York City.
Over the year we have hosted guests from all walks of life such as musicians, business people, families, dancers, actors, writers, honey-mooners, wedding parties, photographers, fashion designers, UN representatives, doctors, travel bloggers, yoga groups, chefs... etc.
We chose the Lower East Side because of its creative vibrancy and diversity along with its user–friendly travel connections to any part of the city. Whether you are flying from half-way around the world or driving just a few hours, we facilitate a real New York experience by offering an affordable, peaceful and stylish accommodation.
