Beautiful place

This is an absolutely beautiful place. The view is spectacular, property is gorgeous, grounds lovely, and it's convenient to Placencia and the airport (but you'll want a car to do anything other than lounge on the beach.) It's great for multiple couples or teenagers, and is very spacious. There are water toys, kayak, small sailboat and surfboard to play with. Down the beach a bit is some coral, so snorkeling is a possibility, though experienced snorkelers will want to take a boat out to the reef.
The dog, Sheeba, I wanted to stuff in my luggage. She's precious. She went swimming with us (unbeknown to me) and scared the living daylights out of me, nuzzling in the water. From then on my adult children delighted in calling her "Sheeba Shark."
There are some issues that may or may not bother you. I'd not recommend it for families with younger children because the downstairs bedrooms open out to the beach, and there is no internal stairway to the upstairs/master suite. Might be scary for little ones. The bedrooms are very well air conditioned, but the great room is not. It opens up for a really nice breeze, but it's a WARM breeze, and if it bugs you to be warm while cooking/eating, it's gonna be warm. The master bath is open with screens and no windows to close. My husband runs and really had trouble cooling down in the shower because it was outdoor temp. This was also a bit of a security concern. There are beepers when the gate is opened, but we were a little uncomfortable about it. If this doesn't bother you, you'll be good. The on sight caretaker wanders about until he goes to bed, but the guy has to sleep, too!
My only real aggravation was the housekeeping service. The maid was not good. At first it seemed to be a miscommunication, and so Mary and Stan talked to her. She picked up her game for a couple of days, but at the end was back to slacking off. At four thousand a week I would expect more. We tried to be good guests and did our own dishes, but she didn't even wipe off counters or clean the bathroom the last couple of days. My six adult kids had left, so there was only the kitchen and our bath to do, but that seemed to be beyond her. It was quite a contrast to the villa we stayed in our first week, which was always cleaned to perfection.
