With military and AT&T, Ken & Janie have moved 20 times in the USA and overseas. Having lived in Asheville many years ago, this was the area in which they wanted to end those relocations. Children and grandchildren live on their estate along with the deer, bear, wild turkeys and other wildlife.
Kenyon and Janie Adair, 825 Adair Ridge, Canton, NC 28716 purchased this apartment in 2002
No place we have lived is more beautiful than this mountain, which offers the best of the wilds of western North Carolina, yet is so close to Asheville.
We are located on a 62 acre private estate, located in hundreds of uninhabited forested acres with many old logging trails and open vistas. We are on the side of a mountain, looking out on the Blue Ridge Mountains, and the famous Cold Mountain of book and movie fame. This retreat is just a short distance from Asheville (20 minute drive to downtown), and all that resort city has to offer.
As owners of Adair Ridge, we are grateful and humbled by the kindness of the wonderful people who have visited our home . We had no idea that this business opportunity would be an amazing segway to meeting such lovely people! To say we appreciate the reviews we have been given would be the understatement of a lifetime! Upon retirement, we spent a year searching for a "chunk of heaven" in the Asheville area. We found it and felt it would be unfair to keep it to ourselves. Nothing gives us greater pleasure than to share the beauty of Holland Mountain with people who also get "high" (no pun intended) by being nestled in the midst of Mother Nature!
I want to personally thank the delightful and talented artists who spent a month ontop of Adair Ridge with us ....they truly became part of our extended family.
The review you have given us has touched us deeply! And all of the previous reviews have also given us the confirmation that we are:
* in the right place
* at the right time
* doing the right thing
And it sure FEELS GOOD ! Thanks to all of you.....and please come back !
We were very pleased with the apartment. The view was breathtaking and the owners are wonderful people. Upon arrival we were a little skeptical because of how far off the beaten path the apartment was but once you are on top of the mountain all skepticism disappeared. The accommodations were excellent, especially if you are ready to get away from the hustle and bustle. We loved it!!!!!
My close friends and I stayed at this property for my birthday weekend. We had a blast to say the least! The apartment is very private if you wish for it to be, however, the family is full of southern hospitality if you are interested in spending time with them. They invited us into the upper level of the home to enjoy an evening of fabulous stories! She told us all about how her family built the home with their own hands and all of the history that went along with the property. The wife even left me a cake and a sweet card in the apartment. Best of all, the view was breathtaking! We will be back to share this experience with our family.
This property is absolutely beautiful. The house, near atop Holland Mountain, has a spectacular view.
The rental, which is the bottom floor of the owner's home, is very spacious, having 2 BR and 1 full bath, a living area with TV/Sat/DVD player, 4-top dining table, and a little more than a kitchenette with fridge.
As already said, the view from this apartment of the main house is wonderful.
The owner's are wonderful hosts and very generous. - Thank you again for the wonderful time.
My hubby and I stayed at this gorgeous-view-of-mountain-perfection a couple of nights during the first week of October 2014. 2 nights were simply not long enough! We definitely want to return for a longer visit! :) This is a truly magnificent mountain top property; gracious, delightful, generous and helpful hosts; near wonderful Asheville, waterfalls, hiking, delightful scenic drives, fruit orchards, the Blue Ridge Parkway, refreshing mountain air, restaurants with amazing food, the lovely Biltmore Estate and Village, shopping and art galleries, the list could go on and on! We drove a low-to-the-ground vehicle not recommended for going to the top of the mountain, but a ride was provided to our final destination. A number is given to call and then a vehicle more appropriate for mountain driving will come to pick you and your belongings up and cart you the rest of the way. There is a fully equipped lovely kitchen. Bring your food from the start if you do not want to spend a lot of time going to get food. Pictures and words simply can not do this property, views or hosts any justice. You must experience them all for yourself. You will not be disappointed! :) Thank you ever so much for every thing, Ken and Janie! Hugs to you both from way down in south Florida! We truly hope to see you and yours again! :)
We truly enjoyed our stay. The apartment was only 15 minutes from town and was easy to find. The space was very clean and well kept and the hosts were welcoming, friendly, and very helpful. We traveled with our 15 month old and the space was perfect for her to play and sleep. They also greeted her with a teddy bear and children's movies. Beautiful view and very private. Loved it and will be staying there again on our next visit. .
Beautiful mountain retreat with wonderfully accommodating hosts. Would highly recommend this spot for a quiet getaway. The road up to the house is steep and slick when wet but we made it up in a chrysler 200 sedan with no problem. The 2 bedroom apartment occupies the lower level of the spacious 3 level log cabin style home and is an easy 20 min drive into Asheville. Take groceries with you as closest store is in Asheville. Everything else you need is there including great southern hospitality. Mountain views were beautiful and the cool mountain air was a wonderful change from the Phoenix summer heat! Loved it!! Thank you Ken and Janie!
