OCEANFRONT VILLA PELICANO / DOCK /NATURE RESERVE/KAYAKS/ BY SOLDIER'S PT. BEACH!

I loved staying here! I stayed with about 17 other people and the rooms were very comfortable, everything was clean, and it's located in a really nice place. Contact with the owner was also very easy and efficient. Will definitely stay here again!

Two friends and I stayed here for a long weekend in December. The facilities were very clean and comfortable, and there was a fully equipped kitchen for cooking should we have wanted to (but we mainly opted to just use the refigerator to store wine and beer). AC is available, though I opted not to use it. There were kayaks with life jackets and paddles easily accessible and for free use, and the owner (Alex) of the establishment gave us some tips on where to kayak, snorkle, etc. Alex was also helpful with giving us ideas for where to eat and find other activities on the island and was a pleasure to speak to and have a few glasses of wine with as well. There were several hammocks to choose from for relaxing :) A few docks down there is a guy who runs a catamaran day trip with food and snorkling (BYOB) that we didn't have time to fit into our trip, but sounded phenomenal. I would recommend renting a car anywhere you stay on this island. Cabs take a while to arrive and walking is nice for liesure but not ideal for getting around the island for meals and activities. There is no restaurant at this lodging facility (yet) but there is another hotel right across the street that serves breakfast from 8 to 10. I'd get there a few mins earlier than 10 - if its quiet they will shut the grills down early. Shoot for more like 9:30 or earlier.

Awesome place to stay! Best place on the island to stay. I have to say that staying at the Pelicano made the visit to Culebra perfect. The island is very quaint like travelling back in time 30 years. If you are looking for the “resort experience” this is not the place for you. If you want to experience the local island life and visit some beautiful beaches this is ideal. We practically had Zoni beach all to ourselves. Zoni beach was beautiful, we felt like we were living in a tropical paradise. The Pelicano is outside of town and you must have a Jeep or a golf cart. We rented a golf cart from Carlos which was really fun. Everyone on the island is very helpful and accommodating. We did all our food shopping on the island without a problem. The prices may be a little more than home but not high enough to compensate for the inconvenience of transporting food from the main island. The Catholic Church has mass at 7pm Saturday night and 10 am Sunday morning, in Spanish. The priest was very dear and did say some of the homily in English for us. He also invited my 2 daughters (ages 11 and 14) on to the altar to say the Our Father. We did minimal cooking but the Pelicano is very well equipped if you choose to cook. We stayed two nights which was not enough. We did bring back food to eat in the beautiful open air kitchen and we relaxed on the hammocks each morning and evening, very peaceful and private. We enjoyed snorkeling with Captain Bill. His catamaran is docked just steps away from the Pelicano. He provided great food and snacks and took us to some very nice snorkeling areas.
