Overview

French Quarter Condo Rental Photos and Description

Condo, 1 Bedroom + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2-3)

Our newly remodeled and charming hide-away in the quiet residential section of the French Quarter is cozy and welcoming. And it's a wonderful place to call home while you explore New Orleans! Our Condo has 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom, a living room and small kitchen. The exposed brick walls and fireplace (non-working) lend a historic feel to the suite. It offers the privacy and quiet to guests looking for a charming place to become a part of the life of New Orleans. Sleeps ONLY 2 Max.

Located in a very safe and secure area of the French Quarter, the building is one of New Orleans great examples of Greek Revival Architecture. It has a stately pillared porch, heavy cornices shadowed by wide, plain friezes, and bold simple moldings. It was designed by the same architect that designed the St Louis Cathedral and was built in 1847. The land it sits on was once a Barracks of the hospital built by the French Army. The Condo is on the 2nd floor with a small balcony overlooking the lush private courtyard. Both the Balcony and Courtyard are yours to enjoy while you stay. We're 1 block from Royal street for shopping, 2 blocks from Bourbon Street, and only steps away from dozens of great restaurants and neighborhood bars. The French Quarter is 'made for walking.' The blocks are small and compact. 2 Blocks to Decatur Street and the French Market. 4 blocks to Jackson Square and the Cathedral. There is so much to see and do and you can walk to Pat O'Brien's, Cafe du Monde, or Bourbon Street. Our little escape is a great place and we hope you'll enjoy the 'City That Care Forgot.'

Located two streets away from Bourbon, and 4 Streets over from St. Ann, within a 5-7 minute walk you can be at OZ, Bourbon Pub and Parade, Good Friends, Rawhide, Napoleon's Itch, The Clover Grill, and Lafitte's in Exile. Close to several small grocery stores and liquor stores too!

Start your day in the Courtyard with Mimosa's, coffee, or beignets. Enjoy leisurely walking the Quarter, a Steamboat Ride on the River, and cocktails on the balcony before dancing the night away on Bourbon Street or listening to some of the country's best Jazz Musicians at clubs within blocks of the unit. The City is one of America's Jewels and can be your for exploring and falling in love with. Don't blame us when you want to return to her again and again and again!

No Pets, No Smoking. Coin operated washer and dryer available on the property. Secure gated entrance prevents unauthorized access onto the property. Parking is available in the French Market Lot, where you can park and walk a short 2 blocks back and forth from the unit to your car.

The condo also contains a comprehensive Video Library of movies filmed in and about New Orleans for your viewing pleasure! We know, we know - you don't come to New Orleans to stay inside and watch TV. But who knows when a rainy day, a unexpected illness, or the exhaustion of 'playing Tourist' just demands that you slow down for a bit? We have (and are constantly on the look for) movies that were filmed in New Orleans. Some are great, some are cheesy, some have super music, and all have wonderful scenes of New Orleans past that you'll never be able to see any other way. So look through the catalog (that is constantly updated) and pick a thriller, a romance, a jazz documentary, or a Swashbuckling adventure with Jean Lafitte and pop it in the DVD and enjoy yet another perspective of New Orleans! You won't find this amenity any where else! And if you have any information about films shot on location in New Orleans we will be delighted to add to our knowledge of New Orleans Film History. She is becoming the 'Hollywood of the South' again for good reason. But the first films were shot here in 1898 and there is a great body of work worth seeing.

About The Owner

We are a group of friends who love New Orleans and love going to New Orleans so much that we bought a condo in the French Quarter! We are not able to go more than 2-3 times a year each, but wanted to be a part of this Great City. So we looked and shopped for almost 2 years before taking the plunge to become Vieux Carre property owners. We don't regret this decision and will use the unit as much as we can.

The Owner purchased this condo in 2009

What makes this condo unique

The restaurants within walking distance. The great Jazz Clubs. The history, the museums, the art. New Orleans is just such a great city!

Great French Quarter Condo!

This was an Excellent location and price! Within walking distance of everything we wanted to see and off the beaten path far enough to be able to sleep at night. Bill was a great host and even gave us a bottle of wine as an anniversary gift!

Wonderful location

  • 5 of 5

We spent a week in New Orleans in late February. This is our third trip to New Orleans, and this time we decided to try a condo over a hotel. As the other reviews have said this is a great location, easy to walk over to Frenchman Street, which we did several times. It is also easy to walk the rest of the French Quarter or get to the street car locations and travel the rest of the city. We traveled over to the Maple Leaf Bar, City Park and the WWII museum all using the street car. There are so many good places to eat within walking distance, including Coop's. We also picked up a sandwich at the local grocery Verti Marte and took it back to the condo (sandwich and pecan pie was excellent). The radio station WWOZ site lists the bars/clubs where local music is playing, and they are playing every night in New Orleans. For people who like a variety of beer take the street car to The Avenue Pub. The condo was was very comfortable and clean, with a locked courtyard and it was a secure location. The owner was wonderful to work with! It's easy to catch a cab from the airport (rates are set in New Orleans) and just call a cab to travel back to the airport. We would definitely stay here again.

Great Location

  • 4 of 5

Great little place in the French Quarter, just a block away from all the restaurants and shops.

Close to the Street Car which we used to go every where, since we did not have car.

The place is very cozy and the bed very comfy.

The only issue we had was how we had to send the key back to the owner wish there would be another way to deal with that. But everything else was great and I would recommend this place to my friends.

Great Condo - Great Location!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I were so excited to be staying in the French Quarter, and this lovely condo lived up to our very high expectations! We spent five days there following a cruise--a great combo. The architecture of the building is beautiful and we really felt "like a local" while we were there. It was also very safe and secure, which is important in a new city. An added bonus, the Quarter was decorated beautifully for the holiday season. Ditto on the comment below; everything was as stated in the description and the owner was very good to work with. We had breakfast every morning and then headed out to explore; we were so close to everything, we could come home, get refreshed and then head out again. There was definitely no need for a car. It was just perfect!

Note: Verti-Mart now has their prices marked. They have the BEST, cheapest cheesecake. It was our late night treat! We did our main grocery shopping at Rouses. We also had dinner one night at Coop's like a review below recommended--definitely a great local bar with good food. We also highly recommend Commander's Palace for lunch with their 25-cent martinis. Really, they are 25 cents! (With an entre) The food was also delish!

perfect location

  • 5 of 5

We spent a week here in May. Location is handy for everything you need. The bed is comfy and it is nice to have a separate living area. That is the reason we like a condo over a hotel room and to try to live like a local. . The courtyard was great, it was as if we were alone as we hardly saw anyone. Lovely to have a coffee or an evening drink. You will be really close to the streetcar which we used a lot. Frenchman street is a very easy stroll to hear great music. Port of Call restaurant is nearby as are many excellent choices to eat. Very quiet at all times and secure , felt safe all the time. Everything is just as advertised. We will definetly book again. Owner was easy to work with. Deposit refunded quickly.

Not related to the condo but just info for anyone staying here and going to verti mart, it appears they have a very loose pricing structure with one price for locals and a very inflated one for tourists. Feeling in need of a sweet snack we were going to buy a frozen pecan pie that was unmarked, when asked the clerk said $18.00. This was ridiculous In addition the price list for prepared food has not been updated, and they say ask for prices. Not sure that this is good for tourists. However you are blocks from Rousses where this is not an issue.
