Rarely, you find a place where you actually feel at home. Puerta del Mar is one of those rare places where you can leave your worries outside the door. The place is a gated community with assigned-double parking space. The rooms were very clean. The listing described exactly what you get. We used the place as our "headquarters" and from there we drove around Puerto Rico visiting many tourists and local places: El Condado, La Fortaleza, El Viejo San Juan, multiple museums and shops, Arecibo Observatory, Camuy Caves, and many beaches and historical churches around the island. Also, we visited Ponce and the lovely historical San German, La Parguera (and the flourescent bay and a swimming pool in the beach, literally), El Faro de Cabo Rojo, and a lovely German mini-Church we came across along the way. We enjoyed visiting three universities- Catholic School in Ponce, UPR in Mayaguez and Interamerican University in San German. The place is conveniently located about 10 minutes from Aguadilla airport and 1 1/2 hours from Munoz Marin Airport in Isla Verde. We only cooked breaksfast at the place; we went to both formal and casual restaurants and kioskos for other occassions. A supermarket named "Amigo" is within driving distance a few minutes away located as part of the Aguadilla Mall. Heading North on Rt. 2 (toward Arecibo) you will find the typical cluster of American junk food (sorry, fast food): McDonalds, Wendys, Pizza Hut, and many more. [Forget those and try "El Mezon"] After a twenty minutes drive on South Rt. 2 you will come across the Mayaguez Mall. Both malls offer any necessary items that you may need in the last minute (but they do not compare with Plaza Las America Mall in the San Juan Metropolitan area if you must have a shopping experience). Puerto Rico has many beautiful beaches (but we do not consider them part of the top ten in the world - Seychelle, Kaunaow, LangKawi, St Bart, Fraser Island, Copacabana/Ipanema come to mind...even Cancun and their resorts). The place is located in the vicinity of one of those beaches: Crashboat beach. You can see Crashboat beach from the balcony but you have to drive 5 minutes to get to the beach. The condo offers a relaxing atmosphere, a beautiful view, a quite place to sleep and a very convenience location. It is without a doubt that we will recommend renting this location if your plans include Puerto Rico. Overall a very lovely experience.
