Michiana Shores Cabin Rental Photos and Description

2 Bedrooms, 1Baths (Sleeps 6)

This lovely cabin in a private setting is spacious yet has a warm rustic feeling. Built in the 1940s, it has a stone fireplace, maple hardwood floors, pine walls, a cathedral ceiling in the living room with a cozy sleeping loft on the mezzanine, plus two bedrooms on the main level with queen beds. There is a separate dining room that seats 6 and a breakfast room off of the kitchen. The wraparound porch has chairs and a large round table for dining or just sipping coffee. It is surrounded by a very large open lawn with mature trees and looks out at a riding stables. You can sit on the large wraparound porch or walk over to the stables and take a trail ride or riding lesson in the large indoor arena. Pony rides are also available for children. The beach is a short walk, or drive for 1 minute, park in our private spot, and walk around the corner to the beach.

The decor has been thoughtfully created by a Chicago designer and builder to be unique yet comfortable.

This home has a new 95% efficiency furnace and central air, newer appliances and is very well maintained. Pets are welcome. Email for details.

The surroundings : This home sits on a large lot and is surrounded by trees. You can see the riding stables across from the private drive. Guests can take trail rides, children can have pony rides, or just visit and bring them carrots. They are very people friendly. The beach is a short walk from the cabin, and we provide private pkg around the corner from the stairs to the water if you choose to drive for the two minutes it takes to get there.

Restaurants and shopping: There is a very nice grocery store down highway 12, which takes all of 10 minutes to get to by car. If you drive another 5 minutes, you will arrive at Light House Mall, a very large discount mall with national retailers. You can also shop and dine in New Buffalo, Michigan, which is 10 minutes in the other direction on highway 12. There are boutiques and Chicago quality restaurants in town and further up along 12, or you can head into the quaint restored town of Three Oaks to see theater, art galleries, shop, or dine.

Great Girl's Getaway!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I had stayed the previous year in the fall, so knowing how great it was, my friends and I booked this cabin during the summer for a girl's weekend. We cooked our own meals as well as went out to close by towns, such a Michigan City. We spent a few days at the beach; which someone had asked me if a picture I showed them was from Florida! The beach was beautiful though the water was slightly colder since it is on the lake. We also took a full day in Chicago since it is only an hour's drive. Price was great, cabin was clean and it was only a five hour drive from where we live. Overall a wonderful and fun experience!

Nice place to relax

  • 5 of 5

We stayed through the week of Thanksgiving. We enjoyed this cabin, because it is just that a cabin. Relaxing, a fireplace insert wood stove, we used it with the door open so that we could hear the wood crackle. We asked to stay an additional night, Claudia was accommodating, thank you for that Claudia. If you are looking to relax, this is the place. All the amenities of home, better than booking a hotel for that long. A place to do your laundry, watch TV at the end of the day or just enjoy the fire.

A perfect fit for our family, kids didn't want to leave

  • 5 of 5

We had perfect fall weather the weekend we stayed, with the trees at peak color. The cabin is lovely, charming and comfortable. Our boys (5 and 2 1/2) loved running to the porch each morning to see the horses in the paddock, just steps from the cabin. The parking spot for the beach was very easy to find, beach access very convenient. The kids enjoyed roasting hot dogs in the fire pit, we adults enjoyed long evenings with a big fire in the wood stove. Stop 50 Pizza delicious as usual. Took the kids to Boo at the Zoo, which they loved, we went trail riding at the stables, and took a trip over to La Porte to the Hesston Steam Train Museum for a "Ghost Train" ride. The Galien River walk was gorgeous with all the fall foliage, kids loved collecting acorns. The cabin is very well maintained with lots of attention to the small details. It DOES have a great shower as another guest pointed out. Very peaceful and secluded, but also with very easy access to just about everything the area has to offer. The only bummer is that the kids didn't really want to leave, and our 2 1/2 year old seems to think it's "our" cabin. I think he's making plans to return…we will definitely be back. Thank you Claudia, for your hospitality.

Cabin was very clean and well maintained. We loved seeing

the horses and feeding them carrots. Great walks with our

dogs on the back roads. Manager provided great details and

and the beautiful fall colors.

A Great Find

  • 5 of 5

We were so pleased with our stay. The cottage has just the right amount of old charm, the decor is very pretty. It was so nice to have parking a block away from the beach. Close to town yet we felt really "away from it all". It was fun to watch the horses at the stable. Thanks for welcoming us and our dog, Roscoe. I think he had more fun than we did!! We will be back!

Great and cozy retreat right around the corner

  • 5 of 5

This was our second stay and we look forward to the next one. This Cozy cabin is an amazing retreat. Just a short jaunt from Chicago and you are in a calm and tranquil setting.

First, you wake up and enjoy your coffee while watching wild deer graze in the back yard, eat lunch on the porch that overlooks the serene horse farm, spend the afternoon playing on an amazing beach (just a short drive away), and then enjoy your evening dining and drinking wine at the fire-oven pizzeria just a short walk down the street.

This cabin is just great. Clean amenities, secluded, quiet, a nicely stocked kitchen which makes cooking and food preparation a pleasure. The cabin comes with WIFI and TV (if you want), but we recommend you unplug both and take advantage of reconnecting with family, enjoying the natural surroundings, and enjoying the blessing of being away from the hustle and bustle of modern life.

There is plenty to keep young ones entertained as well - Northern Indiana has many treasures to discover that are short drives from the cabin. Train museums, Old mills, Parks, old lighthouses, fun restaurants, and eclectic ice cream shops (just to list a few our 6 and 3 year old's enjoyed).

After unwinding for a week vacation at this cabin, we think you will leave with a smile, tell all your friends about the wonderful time you had, and look forward anxiously to your next opportunity.
