Jestaedt Castle is surrounded by undisturbed nature and located at the Werra (North Hessen) between Goettingen – Kassel and Eisenach. 3 bedrooms. The apartments are extremely comfortable and well equipped (from 100 km2, with kitchen, bathroom, a half opened chimney, old wood beams, parquet flooring, and timber floorboards). On request you can enjoy the historic castle ball room with its antique furniture. The castle is very fond when it comes to family parties up to 30 people and also for vacations for the whole family. Children are especially welcomed. The castle has a gorgeous courtyard surrounded by roses, oleander and wild wine plants; another plus is a large garden where you can rest under the shadow of old trees or enjoy the barbecue area. The garden also offers lots of fun for children. Perfect starting point for visiting other sceneries of the Werra Valley. Bicycle riding, walking, driving or canoeing to discover one of the most beautiful valleys.
Arrival: The best way to reach Jestaedt is by car or train. Train: Station “Eschwege West” 2 km; first with the ICE – train to Goettingen or Fulda and then switch over to the regional train which departures every hour. If you want to get by car you can take different routes. If coming in from the north: A 7 to Goettingen triangle Drammen Valley heading Nordhausen - B 7. If coming from the south: first to Hersfeld Bath – B 27. If coming from the West: to Kassel – B 7. In Jestaedt town you can guide yourself at the church tower. At the front you will unmistakable see the Jestaedt Castle.
The 800 years old castle located on a small ledge provided ones protection for a ford. The castle is located at the town’s edge next to the church. Parting from this point there is a road that leads directly - among the chalk cliffs- to the fields. The Werra spreads along its path forming loops as it goes by romantic timbered cities, castles and palaces. Until 1989 ran at this point the German bounder between Hessen and Thüringen, you can track evidence. The castle was built on the basis of a valley palace destroyed during the 30 years War from 1558-61. There has also been plenty remodelling since then. Some years ago the castle was restore after getting the permission and support of the Monument Preservation. The opportunity was used to incorporate baths, kitchens and heating system also to add space and modern decoration style (incorporating in part antique furniture) to the houses. All provide the necessary for self- sufficiency. If wished we can provide warm meals or breakfasts.
