Great unit and close to the beach

The owner was great and allowed us to book last minute. When we arrived, we weren't expecting much, but this place far exceeded our expectations. Even though there was no view of the water, the walk to the beach was less that two minutes. There is a relaxing screened porch off the back of the unit that overlooks some woods and a pond. We saw alligators just around the corner! Night Heron Park is right next door, and the bike path runs just behind the unit. Easy bike ride down to the Straw Market or the other way to the shops. So glad we got to stay here! We had our dog with us, and the owner was more than willing to allow him to stay with us for a reasonable fee. Will definitely recommend and look to stay here in the future!

Snowbirds from Michigan

We had previously rented this unit and found it very suitable . This time the entrance rug was filthy, the bathroom shower curtain needed replacement immediately (which we did at our expense), mold and chipped paint on b-room doors, urine stains on the bed cover sheet a wall plug cover in the kitchen which we bought & put on, and finally a reclining chair which eventually broke down.
The owner seems like an ice man and did react to most of our concerns, however, he needs to bring this unit up-to-date. We love Kiawah Island and the Charleston area but could not return to this unit in it's current condition.
Owner's Response: Wow! This is a tough one for a number of reasons.
First, I would like to apologize to the guests. I was unaware of any of these problems until after their arrival and they presented their requests. I am always willing to correct any legitimate problems as quickly as possible. I never expect my guests to bear any financial burden to replace or repair things that improve the condo. I am not sure what happened on the reimbursement end but I will make sure that they are paid for the shower curtain and the electrical cover plate. We usually have these in locked storage in the condo and our handy man can replace them quickly upon request. I was disappointed and a little embarrassed about the mattress pad but, as I thought about it, I can see where a rental guest might be embarrassed to mention that they had a problem that might stain the pad. Hopefully, there will be a little understanding for all parties involved here. In regards to the chair, I am sorry that it stopped working while they were there. I wish that I could have been notified of this in another way, rather than to read about it here. The condo is cleaned thoroughly after each rental so I am not sure how the entry rug became so dirty. I suspect that realtors may have brought prospective buyers in after the unit was cleaned. Our condo is presently for sale, so I am not planning on any major updates that a new owner might not approve of.
Another factor is dealing with such a wide range of expectations from our rental guests. Some take our higher quality items and leave their own in place- such as pillows, linens, decorative items, etc. We often don't discover this until other guests have had to live with what was exchanged and left by prior renters. This makes it difficult to keep high quality items in the condo.
Some leave the condo almost spotless upon departure while others leave it very messy. This makes it a challenge to prepare it properly in the window of time before the next guests arrive, as was the case here. I also apologize to the next guests if the recliner was not operating properly- tilt, heat, vibration. Hopefully our repair man can restore it quickly to its original capacities.
I hope that this experience didn't detract too much from their Kiawah experience. It is truly a beautiful island.

Thanksgiving at Kiawah!

My wife, dog Marley, and I spent a very enjoyable and comfortable thanksgiving at this Mariners Watch condo. First of all, Fred, the owner was very accommodating and easy to work with. The condo was very clean, comfortable, with everything you need to just relax and enjoy your stay. The location is perfect to enjoy the beach, just a five minute stroll, go for a bike ride, bikes are provided, walk or go for a run, and shops are in close proximity. We will definitely return in the not so distant future. Thanks Fred!

Cozy and Comfy

Unit was very clean, plently of dinnerware and cookware. Super soft bed and living room furniture was comfortable. Towels and other linens were well stocked. We had such a relaxing, peaceful, quiet time we can't wait to return. Owners are super nice and are quick to answer any questions/concerns we had. We give the owners a 5 star rating also.

Great Location, Good Price

What we valued most about this property was its location. The beach was 3 minutes away. And a nearby playground was perfect for our little children. We liked the detached living space and the outdoor patio which provided multiple spaces for interaction. I had a little work to do each morning while the family slept and I loved sitting on the screened back porch looking out toward the lagoon. We found the living space and the bedroom suitable for our family of four. As other reviewers have noted, the bathroom felt a little grungy, glasses were short, there was no laundry detergent, one chair was broken. But the accommodation seemed perfectly fitting for the rate we paid. We did have some minor problems accessing the place and had trouble getting a hold of the owner to get the key code. Fortunately, he had sent us the number of a property manager and got through to someone who gave us the access code. We give this place a 3.5 because it's a good bargain.
Owner's Response: I am sorry that the guest had trouble getting into the condo but I send an information sheet to the guests before they arrive. It has all of the necessary access information- key code and phone numbers of my caretaker and my own phone number. Also, I believe that there were some improvements made to the bathroom after this guest departed. We are pleased that the guest had an overall positive experience at our condo.
