About The Owner

We are Jen and Dave.

The Owner purchased this house in 2008

Why The Owner chose Toronto

We've lived in this Toronto west end neighbourhood for several years. Follow College St. east or head down Ossington Ave and maybe end up at Queen St. West a few blocks south. All of these local areas are well known for some of the best restaurants, art galleries and nightlife in Toronto. Also a great area for kids - Dufferin Grove park within a few minutes walk (playground and splash pad in summer/ice rink in winter and year round farmers market).

With transit only a few steps from the property, it is a convenient commute to University of Toronto or the downtown business core.

Fantastic retreat for a month in the city.

  • 5 of 5

I spent a month in the Garden View apartment and was incredibly pleased with my time there. It is a lovely apartment tastefully furnished and felt like a home. The owners Jen and Dave are amazing hosts and are available without being intrusive. The apartment is in a fantastic location just off College and very easy to get anywhere by public transit. The apartment is very close to the YMCA so if you need to hit the gym it is right there. I will definitely be renting this place again the next time I am in Toronto and have recommended Jen and Dave's apartments to others.

1st time in 1st floor apartment. Fantastically clean with great amenities. Photographs are lovely but the apartment is even better. Dave and Jen are the greatest hosts, They are available if needed but not intrusive. Transit available within 2 mins walk, short tram journey into city where there is everything.

Great experience!

  • 5 of 5

We spent a month in the garden view apartment and were very, very happy - it felt like home. The apartment is spotlessly clean and larger than it appears in the photos- quite spacious - and very tastefully decorated too. It was great to have laundry facilities and a proper, well-equipped kitchen. As we were there in winter it was also good to have the fireplace. It also has a fantastic bathtub - great for a long soak. There is also a desk and wifi which was great as we were there for work. The owners, Jen and Dave, were very responsive and helpful when needed. Location is fantastic - despite being a 2 minute walk to the tram the apartment was really quiet as it is on a side street off the main street (College). Very easy to get everywhere on foot or by tram, bus, or subway. Close to a huge selection of restaurants, two grocery stores, numerous coffee shops, a cinema and the Y (where they had a free 2 week membership deal). We were a bit concerned when booking as the reviews on VRBO weren't recent but perhaps this is because the owners don't ask for reviews to be written - as we've experienced in other rentals. We have rented vacation apartments in a number of cities and can honestly say this is the nicest - and cleanest - we've rented! We will definitely stay again and have no hesitation in recommending the apartment.

Visiting grandparents from Vancouver

We were so pleased at how bright and open the apartment was. The kitchen was well equipped and modern. Since it was New Years we didn't"t get to enjoy the garden view as much. Jen and Dave were very accommodating. Location has lots of pluses. Parking worked out and always found a good spot. loved the fireplace and the brick wall. We would stay here again, hopefully without a snowfall.

Wonderful, relaxing, and quiet.

  • 5 of 5

Two of us stayed 3 nights in early October. The unit was as nice or even nicer than the photos suggest. It was amazingly quiet, and the queen-sized bed was very comfortable. It was also spotless. Having access to a washer and dryer was a plus. The kitchen was fully equipped, and it was nice to be able to fix breakfast each morning. The neighborhood, while not immediately adjacent to a subway station, did have streetcar and bus service very close by, along with several restaurants, markets, and nice shops.

I would definitely recommend the Garden View to friends and relatives.

Better than home

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I just spent a week at Dave and Jen's lovely apartment. It was spacious, light-filled, tastefully decorated and well-outfitted. It is very well located, just around the corner from the College St streetcar and an 8 minute walk to the Bloor St subway line. We bought weekly transit passes and got everywhere on them--you really don't need a car (or want one given the downtown traffic). The immediate neighborhood has many shops and restaurants, may favorite being a little Portugese bakery just east of Ossington, where you can buy 2 days worth of breakfast pastries for 2 for $3.

Dave and Jen live just upstairs and are fine hosts, always available to answer questions or make recommendations. When we asked to stay a few hours extra because our flight home wasn't until late afternoon, there was no problem.

We would definitely stay here again.

Dont miss:

Blue Bay Cafe (Dundas, near Bloor) -- Mauritrian food. Perhaps the most unique restaurant in town.

Bata Shoe Museum -- interesting lens for history, ethnography, etc.

Roof Lounge at the Hyatt -- drinks are very expensive, but tapas are not. Totally worth it for the unobstructed views of Parliament and downtown.

Honest Ed's -- a bargain-filled, kitchy institution. Pick up a bust of Elvis for a song.
