Our location in Half Moon Bay is just a three-minute walk to the famous preserved Yal Ku Lagoon with its calm, clear water, perfect for protected snorkeling. Akumal, which means “place of the turtle” in Mayan, has a large ecocenter, which teaches about the community’s commitment to the environment. Visit the ecocenter to learn how they preserve the surrounding reefs and particularly the sea turtles that come to the beaches to lay their eggs every summer. You will also find in Akumal two dive centers offering PADI-certified instructors that offer organized trips for reef and cavern dives, as well as fishing trips and jungle tours guided by local Mayans.
