|Minimum Stay||2 - 3 nights|
Drive up the country road, over the roaring gorge of the Williams River, past farms and hillsides. Turn onto the long driveway, pass the sparkling pond. The air is fresh, the view is beautiful, and the house is comfortable. You have arrived.
Let the kids run off their energy in the huge, mowed yard, while you read that novel in the hammock or go fishing in the pond. Take a nice nature hike, cool off in the pond, throw dinner on the grill, then build a campfire, roast some marshmallows, look up at the stars.
No kids? Grab a bottle of wine and some nice aged Vermont cheddar, sit in the Adirondack chairs, watch while hummingbirds come to the gardens and wait for deer to emerge from the forest. Cook a romantic meal in the well equipped kitchen, then snuggle up to a fire in the stone fireplace.
Inside, with classic and antique furnishings, you'll feel right at home surrounded by the stone and wood elements, while the art stimulates your mind and spirit.
This house is all that it should be inside, and more than you can imagine outside, with nature and opportunity abundant.
The place is clean and stocked with some supplies that makes the stay more convent. It's a quaint area, secluded and scenic. I would recommend this cabin for someone who wants to get away and have serenity
My husband & I were looking to celebrate an Anniversary and came across this listing. As we married on the Autumnal Equinox, we wanted to find a cozy VT cabin, tucked away from the business of life, where we could take in all the magic that surrounds this beautiful time of year. We found all of that and more in this listing! Perfect for young families traveling with little ones and pups, there was plenty of room to explore inside and out. The rolling hill, large pond, and cozy interior made this little gem the perfect get-a-way. There was a chest full of children's toys, all the cooking essentials one could want, and even a food co-op, farmers market, and apple orchard with a petting zoo all within a short driving distance. The owner was attentive and quick to reply to all our inquiries and the price was very generous considering all that came along with the stay. We will definitely add this to the list of places to come back to!
Thank you for the opportunity to rent your lovely home in VT. We had an awesome and relaxing time. It's hard and expensive to travel with four kids of all different ages (18, 17, 13 and 16 mths), so your home and amenities was exactly what we needed. Enough space for each of us to have our own space, internet for the teenagers, space to ride our dirt bikes, play some badminton, relax on the porch and allow the baby to wander around the yard without the fear of him going into the street. Even though the only thing we caught in the pond was a turtle we still had fun trying. The only downside, was that they seem to be logging a few streets over and we could hear them all day during the week, so that took away from the nature sounds, but other than that it was perfect.
There are a TON of toys in the ottoman. We didn't notice them until the morning that we were leaving. I never thought to open it, I only opened when we were leaving to make sure the kids didnt put something inside and behold all the toys!
Thank you for being so prompt and responsive to all our questions. We would definitly recommend this property to our friends and relatives.
The cottage is quaint and comfy - has everything you need for a getaway. Very spacious, yet comfortable. The only thing keeping the rating from a 5 star is the odds and ends clutter around outside and view of neighbors metal swing set. Overall, great stay! We'd return.
The house, good location and convenient for us. The kitchen had everything we needed and we loved it. Even the knives very sharp. The house is rustic but in pretty good condition. Bedding is good and clean. The owner responds immediately to our emails. We enjoy the surroundings, walking in the snow and taking our son on the sled . There lots of toys and things at the house but we used ours.
I will definitely go back in the summer if it will be available for us, it has very good reviews.
NOT ENOUGH HEAT
If you have kids 2-3 years old do not go in the winter!!!
There is only one heating furnace in the living room but it will be impossible to warm up the bedroom upstairs unless you bring your own radiator.I wish we were told about it. At night in mid 50 s. If you try to higher the temperature in the living to warm up the bedroom upstairs it will dry the air and it will make it uncomfortable to sleep downstairs.
When it came to have the deposit refunded we were charged $30 fee for leaving to much garbage in the shed and for not recycled in the Vermont way.
So we were told to much garbage for 5 nights stay , 2 couples and 2 kids. BEWARE if you eat and drink to much you get penalized!! Do not consume to much you are being watched!!
In the Rental Agreement it is not mentioned anything about fees for garbage, there is only for cleaning.
We always clean the rentals to avoid fees.
The stove did not work proprietly it would not lit on the right side so we had to light the pilot back on. Easy fix but very dangerous if you don' t notice, gas leaks .
THINKS YOU SHOULD KNOW.
closest store does not carry milk, sour cream or eggs
Fire wood not provided, radius of 20 miles no one will sell you a piece. When i think about how people looked at me when I asked about fire wood really makes me laugh. It's like mortgages with lower interest rate, almost impossible to get it.
In Ludlow at Sunoco gas station you can buy it for 4,50 plus tax. 22 miles away.
4x4 car it's a must for the winter.
We booked the Vermont Country Lodge for a weekend getaway. Our goal was to spend a weekend in Vermont with a fireplace and a quiet place to write. What we arrive to was so much more than I imagined. It was dark when we arrived, maybe not the best way to get there, as the road in is narrow and bumpy, but it made for a wonderful next day.
From the massive stone step at the back door, to the gorgeous stone work on the fireplace and rough-hewn wide plank floors, I was so happy not to be in a cookie cutter hotel. The walls were adorned with pieces of art, many painted by the owner, as well as unexpected touches—a fishing pole, a didgeridoo, a dream catcher. We have rented other private residences and felt as if it wasn't ours or worse, wasn't very clean, this was so different. We both felt privileged to have this special place entrusted to us.
The post and beam elements and the way the cabin sits on the land communicate a sense of this place having been here for many, many years. Sitting on the front porch, swinging in the hammock and simply walking the grounds was the perfect way to unplug (that being said, the wi-fi worked like a charm). The wind moves through the leaves creating the most pleasant and calming swishing sound.
The bedding was incredible, with flannel sheets and weighty duvets. The eclectic furnishings made me exclaim in delight on more than one occasion. I simply cannot say enough good things about this place.
If your hope is to experience Vermont in a comfortable and memorable way, you cannot go wrong with this location.
