Saugatuck / Douglas Cabin Rental Photos and Description

Cabin, 3 Bedrooms + Loft, 2 Baths, and Private Hot Tub, Amenities! (Sleeps 7-8)

Looking for the perfect family, group or romantic getaway? You've just found it, at this beautiful all-wood cabin in Kingfisher Cove, mere minutes - approximately 6, to be precise - from downtown Saugatuck, Michigan!

With everything you need, and plenty of it, for a memorable and wonderful vacation with just enough to do, and plenty of time to do nothing.

This cabin is perfect in every way; a romantic hideaway for you and your honey, a family vacation with the kids, or a group getaway ~ you will be delighted with by its charm, open floorplan and welcoming atmosphere. This cabin is owned and operated by the Conway Family of Chicago. It's cozy, warm and down to earth - with the little luxuries and amenities that make your vacation complete, memorable and fun!

Conveniently located in southwest Michigan, not too far from anywhere, but light years away from the stress and nonsense of everyday living.

Nestled in a beautiful nature preserve, a short stroll down the boardwalk to the shore of Goshorn Lake, Roadside Marker Vacation Cabin is part of the vacation community known as Kingfisher Cove.

The Great Room of this beautiful all wood cabin, designed by Deb Colvin, features a 22' high wood-burning fireplace. You'll also find a stereo, with AM/FM tuner, CD player and iPod dock with remote. The dining area features an immense, one-of-a-kind stump wood table, great for meals, as well as board games - a great selection of which can be found in the cabinet next to the fireplace.

And if you're one of those folks who still like to know what's going on in the outside world, don't despair of this get-back-to-nature hideaway. You'll find a 42' Plasma screen television in the loft, with basic cable, and available On-Demand movies and sports. Did we mention wireless internet? That's there too.

Self-catering - fully appointed kitchen, with stove, oven, microwave, refrigerator with ice maker, dishwasher, coffee maker, cooking and baking utensils, lots of counter space and service for eight.

In the summer, cool off in the pool, steps from the front door.

For cookouts, there's a gas grill. Just off the back porch, you'll find a lovely patio, surrounded by pine trees, and a fire-pit for that evening campfire and marshmallow roast.

And, oh yes. The Private Chilly Season Hot Tub - located on the screened in back porch - a terrific way to relax, spring, fall or winter. (Operational from mid September through mid May.)

Sleeps up to Eight:

- Master Suite with queen size hickory log bed.

- One bedroom with two red cedar twin beds.

- Additional bedroom with queen below, twin above hickory log bunk bed.

- All bedrooms have large closets, four drawer cedar log dressers, bed linens and cozy comforters provided.

- AM/FM clock radios and towel racks.

- Loft sleeping quarters with queen size pull out sofa bed.

- We supply all bed linens and cozy pillows, quilts and blankets.

Two full baths; Master Suite includes luxurious soaking tub.

About Dorothy Conway

Being a large family of brothers, wives and children who actually do like to go on vacations together, we understand what is needed for a relaxing yet fun stay at a place that can be both serene and bustling. We believe that this cabin is that perfect mixture.

Dorothy Conway purchased this cabin in 2007

Why Dorothy Conway chose Saugatuck / Douglas

Our family has had close Michigan ties going back three generations. A small fishing/hunting cottage on the shore of Lake Leelaneau in the northern part of the state has been a family gathering spot for almost 100 years. We wanted to continue the tradition, and perhaps have something a little closer to Chicago, which most of us call home. Since Saugatuck has always been a stopping point in our travels to and from Lake Leelaneau, and we'd already made many memories there, we were naturally drawn to the area. Now, it's just a quick drive out of our concrete jungle, and into the relaxing beauty that is southwest Michigan. We love it, and know you will too!

What makes this cabin unique

This place has it all! From the 22' high fireplace to the screened in back porch overlooking the untouched woodland. From the community pool just steps away from the front porch to the 42' plasma TV in the loft. From Goshorn Lake just down the boardwalk to your own private hot tub on the screened in back porch (operational late September through mid-May.) From downtown Saugatuck just a few minutes away to the pristine beaches of Michigan's east coast, Roadside Marker is the place to let your hair down, put your feet up and just be.

Guestbook comments from the owner

What a beautiful place to bring our 7 month old on her first vacation. We really appreciate the cleanliness of the cabin, and aside from forgetting to request the “NO Rain Option as part of our package, everything was perfect! Daughter got her 2nd tooth while we were here and caught her first glimpse of beautiful Lake Michigan at the State Park (only 5 minutes away – fantastic!) Even the rain showers and gray sky couldn’t detract from the beauty of the forest and beach – and we were lucky enough to have one perfect, sunny, beautiful fall days before we left. This was our first trip to Saugatuck but definitely won’t be our last!

Everything we hoped for and more!

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 8 stayed here the last weekend of March and had such a wonderful time! Dorothy was a pleasure to deal with and was happy to answer any of my questions. The cabin was breathtaking upon entering, with beautiful wood throughout. We enjoyed the fireplace, the jacuzzi, and movie time in the loft. We also baked every night since the kitchen is stocked with everything you could ever need. We were so impressed with all the little extra touches including the decor and board games. It was a very short drive to the grocery store and beautiful Oval beach. I highly recommend this cabin. We can't wait to go back!

Perfect Getaway!!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I went up to stay at the cabin for our anniversary and had an amazing time! The cabin is perfect and has everything you need to make your stay comfortable. The cabin is a short drive to downtown Saugatuck where there are wonderful restaurants and adorable shops. I would also suggest walking from the cabin to Dairy Dayz for an evening cream was delicious! Overall, we could not have had a better anniversary weekend in Saugatuck at Kingfisher Cove. The owners are amazing and so accommodating. We will most definitely be back!!

Family Fun in Saugatuck!

  • 5 of 5

This cabin had it all. Amenities, location, and decent price. The pool was a hit with our grandchildren. The lake was hit for the fishermen in the family. Douglas, Saugatuck and Holland were a hit for us shoppers. Oval Beach and Ottawa Beach are close-by and must-sees. Ride the dune buggy too! Great time for the family.

Unforgettable Family Memories!

  • 5 of 5

Cabin #17 was the site of many unforgettable family memories during our recent summer vacation. From the minute you walk into the airy, modern and cozy cabin, you feel right at home. The layout was perfect for our family of 7 and the amenities kept everyone happy from our 4 yr old to our 18 yr old. Close to everything and right off the expressway! Dorothy provided plenty of information about the area via e-mails prior to our arrival and with her helpful concierge folder located inside the cabin. Beds were comfy, all the kitchen necessities provided and plenty of pillows and blankets. We loved roasting marshmellows around the campfire and staring up at all the stars that lit up the sky each night. The property is well-kept and very clean. Oh, and Dairy Dayz, the local ice cream shop, is within walking distance ~ they have the best soft serve we've ever tasted! We will be back for sure to create more unforgettable family memories! Thanks, Dorothy!

Memorial Day Get Away

  • 5 of 5

This was our 2nd annual visit to Roadside Marker and we just loved it! In fact we loved the cabin and Saugatuck area so much that we brought friends with us this year. We traveled with our 14 & 12 year olds kids and they just love it there!

In spite of the bad weather we still had a blast. We dined at Salt of the Earth (awesome), Marro's, Wally's and Su Casa (awful). We went on the dunes ride, hiked in the nearby dunes park, went to the Art Barn, shopped in Douglas/Saugatuck and enjoyed the very beautiful and comfortable cabin.

The pictures of the cabin are just how the place is: clean and comfortably accommodates 8 people. The neighborhood is well-maintained and we love how quiet and private the area is. The back screened in porch is great to hang out in nature, the hot tub...oh so relaxing, and the beds are very comfy!

Thank you Dorothy and family for sharing your lovely cabin with us. You are so wonderful to work with and we can't wait to come again soon!

Welcome to Kingfisher Cove! These awesome cabins share 200 feet of pristine Goshorn Lake frontage with an pier and easy in/out ladder for swimming and non-motorized boats. 17 acres of woods, a private association heated pool, boardwalks, nature trails and Lake Michigan breezes. Kingfisher Cove isn't far from fun either, located just down the road from the Dune Rides, which from all accounts, is a thrilling afternoon! A brief drive (literally a couple of minutes) takes you to Saugatuck Dunes, great hiking and an uncrowded Lake Michigan beach - or if crowds are more your style, we're not far from Oval Beach - just across the bay (rated one of the worlds Top 10 Beaches!) If wineries, lots of galleries and shopping are your thing, there's the terrific Saugatuck/Douglas shopping districts, we're about 15 minutes from downtown Holland (where the New Holland Brewery is located - hey beer lovers!) and Fennville and it's farms and wineries is just a short drive away. More to do than you can possibly fit into a week - or the best place in Michigan to do nothing at all.

Only a couple of minutes from downtown Saugatuck, with galleries, restaurants and shopping, and a hop, skip and a jump away from Saugatuck Dunes State Park with great hiking, unmanicured cross country ski trails and amazing beaches. Saugatuck has been doing some terrific bike and hike trail building along Blue Star, leading to downtown as well as nearby Holland. Bring your bike and check it out! If you're into cross country skiing, the Dunes State Park offers un-groomed trails for a real winter challenge. There are also easier trails at nearby Allegan State Park and Hunting area. Groceries are found both at DeMonds, just over the bay bridge in Douglas, or if you're really stocking up, we recommend the Meijer's up in Holland - about 15 minutes away, everything you could possibly need. At the cabin, you'll find our 'concierge' folder - take a moment to have a look, you'll find listings of local eateries, area attractions, shopping and services.
