We are close to all the High Country attractions, Grandfather Mountain, Beech and Sugar Mountain ski slopes, Banner Elk, Boone, Blowing Rock, Appalachian State University, Linville River Falls, not to mention the finest collection of public golf courses in the area. The single residence is located on a private road shared with only one other cabin, in a secluded mountain with breath taking views.
From the outside the cabin looks very old, the structure was built from 10x10 logs salvaged from antique homes. On the inside, the cabin is equipped with all the modern conveniences. Washer and dryer, refrigerator with ice maker, dishwasher, microwave, glass top stove with oven are all provided. Kitchen is fully equipped with dishes, silverware, pot and pans, crock pot and coffee maker.
The master bedroom loft has a king size bed and a full bath that features an old fashion claw foot tub. The downstairs bedroom has two twin beds that can be pushed together. The living room has a sleeper sofa. All linens and towels are provided.
We have a family construction company in Florida and this property has been a vacation retreat for many years. We have recently decided to build cabins in the North Carolina area.
Debbie Williams purchased this cabin in 2009
We visited the area in 1985 on a family vacation and absolutely fell in love with the area and decided to purchase mountain acreage and built a family vacation cabin. We later decided to develop the property to build future cabins. This is the first cabin that we have built on the property for public use in 2009.
The seclusion of this cabin is unmatched. Access to the cabin is via a private road that is shared by one other cabin. This location is also very close to nearby attractions: ski slopes, hiking, white water rafting, Grand Father Mountain, and shopping. This area is also home to many yearly events: Octoberfest and Roasting of the Pig at Sugar Mountain, the Highland games, the Wooly Worm Festival, etc.
Pictures on this listing do not do this place justice. It was absolutely amazing, the view was perfect and Debbie and Don could not have been more accommodating. Great bang for the buck. It was close to everything even though we stayed in and just relaxed. I would give this place a try if your looking for solitude peace and quiet.
This cabin was the perfect choice for a last-minute trip to the Blue Ridge mountains. The owner, Debbie, was extremely helpful and easy going. As this was my first experience booking through VRBO, I was elated the experience was so positive. The cabin sits in a spot that is secluded but close to many attractions in the area. It was very convenient to feel away from it all yet close enough to explore. I took my miniature schnauzer hiking along many places on the Blue Ridge parkway. We also stopped in Boone for some mountain apples. Blowing Rock and Grandfather Mountain are just a short drive away.
When I first walked into the cabin, I was met with the aroma of woodsy charm. There are many features giving an authentic feel. You can tell the owners/builders put much thought into this cabin. It was cozy, comfortable and just right. The tub in the loft was great for relaxing after an active day in nature. I highly recommend this cabin to those looking for a nice, genuine place in a quiet spot among the spectacular mountains.
Our family stayed here for an impromptu 5-day vacation and enjoyed this cabin thoroughly. We booked just the day before, and the owners were easy to contact, friendly and efficient at getting us set up for our stay - a super VRBO experience. The cabin is charming and unique and was just right for us - board game space, fireplace/tv-watching space, sizeable and user-friendly kitchen, large upstairs loft with king-sized bed, cozy downstairs BR, wonderful front porch. Fascinating construction details, handmade bark-front cabinets, not cookie-cutter. Super quiet and peaceful, a great location for us to go to Grandfather Mtn., hike Hawksbill and Table Mtn, go rafting, visit Mast General Store, watch the Highland Games, etc. The driveway takes you up to the cabin at a smooth grade, a couple of switchbacks but totally fine for a family sedan. Treated to rabbits, a wild turkey, and unbelievable birdsong in the mornings - like no one's ever lived there!
Our family stayed in this lovely cabin over the 4th of July and could not ask for a better location! The very private cabin is lovely with stunning views. We had no problems getting to and from the cabin in our mini van even in large amounts of rain! The location was fabulous for us especially with all the rain the area received. We were able to make a short trip to lake Watauga in TN and have a great sunny day on the lake one day, and hike at Linville Falls the next. Thank you for making our family vacation memorable and relaxing!
We really enjoyed are stay and we will be back!!! Don And Debbie are wonderful people to deal with and look foward to a long realtionship with them and the Cabin.
We had a great vacation here in July. The cabin itself has beautiful woodwork and stone features with a warm cozy feel. We found it to be perfectly spacious and quite well-designed with things well thought out and in new and good condition. We dealt with the owners by email and telephone, and they were very friendly and responsive. While some of our VRBO stays have not lived up to the photos, this one definitely met or exceeded our expectations. The owners have another house on the property which was unoccupied during our stay so we had complete privacy. The driveway has new gravel and was not a problem at all for our FWD, low clearance car for our summer stay. We found it a great spot for day trips to attractions like Linville Gorge, Grandfather Mountain and the Blue Ridge Parkway. We would definitely recommend and stay again.
