In the perfect location! This house is very private and provides plenty of parking and security for both vehicles and/or bikes and ocean toys. Being upcountry, it offers the perfect climate with fabulous views and fantastic upcountry sunsets!
I've been coming to Maui for 32 years. I was initially drawn to the wind sports, including windsurfing and now kite boarding, but there are so many more reasons I keep coming back! I hope you enJoy Upcountry Maui as much as I do!
Mark purchased this house in 2009
The location offers the ideal mix of proximity to Makawao, Haleakala, and all the North Shore attraction yet worlds apart on it's own private land with spectacular views.
This property is set up for enJOYment of your surroundings in a relaxed comfortable environment. The design lives large with panoramic ocean views of the North and South Maui Shorelines and a deck perched on the edge of it all. And, wait until you see the sunsets!
We were extremely pleased with our stay here. The days were warm and the nights cool, with excellent views of Kahalui and the water from the front, and Haleakala in the back. It was also very convenient to Makawao town, especially the awesome bakery there! The home had every convenience you could want and the overall accomodations were great. It was also nice to have such easy access to Haleakala National Park and the Road to Hana. We would definitely stay here again!
Pookela Paradise is a quality home. Very well set up. Makawao is lower key than the coastal towns and was nice to escape to in the evenings. Maui was very busy in general and having a quieter place in the country town was so nice. It is cooler in the upcountry and very comfortable. The view is fantastic from the house and you can see the weather all around, then pick your destination for the day. There was 6 people in our party. The open living area is large and very comfortable. The bedrooms are just big enough and having the extra apartment down stairs was perfect to accommodate all our odd time zones. Having the beach gear was an added bonus. Mark was very helpful and accommodating.
My wife and I stayed at Pookela Paradise for several days during our honeymoon and it was perfect! Great view, quiet house, excellent amenities and sunsets/stargazing from the hot tub was exactly the type of relaxing we wanted! Mark is also a great attentive host!
We had a great stay in Makawao! Are only issue was that we should of spent the whole week there instead of 4 nights. We spent two nights in Kaannapali at Aston Whaler which was nice to hear the ocean , but to many people on that side of the island. The house at 1095 had an awesome view of both side of the ocean and a great porch. The location is close to many things and and a short walk to the town of Makawao. It was so nice coming home every night to a glass of wine, dinner and the hot tub which was much needed after all the activities. Oh and washing our clothes and towels in the wash machine there was a must after all the hiking. The house has everything you would need including snorkels, coolers, beach mats, beach chairs, spices, and more..... Costco is just a few minutes away, we ate at the house every night and relaxed. The Bakery in town is awesome and is closed Wednesday and Sunday. If you get up early and want an good breakfast Grandma's is just down the street in Kula. It is a great place to stop if you are doing the road to Hana backwards. There is a nice fruit market their too. This is the place to stay in Maui. If you want to see Lahaina and Kaannapali just pack up a cooler and go over for the day.
I took this trip to get married in Maui and we had the best experience. The weather was a little shaky while we were there, Kona winds brought in haze from the big island and some pretty serious rain storms. We were glad to have such a comfortable place to stay. We had eight people in our party and there was more than enough room for all of us to spread out. The location of the house is pretty convenient to go in several directions; up Haleakala, down to Kahului and over to Paia, and out to Hana. You can easily walk to the bakery down in Makawao to get fresh bread and some delicious doughnuts! We had a great view of the lowlands and on New Years it was amazing to see the whole island shooting off fireworks. I wish we could have stayed longer. I highly recommend this house for anyone looking to visit Maui and have a nice laidback place to stay without the bustle of the resort crowd.
We had a wonderful stay in Makawao! This home is beautiful. It is laid out very well and takes full advantage of the spectacular views! Mark, the owner, is extremely friendly and very responsive. We couldn’t have asked for more. The kitchen comes stocked with everything you need to cook a good meal. The full size W/D and laundry room is also very nice to have. We really appreciated all the additional amenities: beach chairs, snorkel gear, hundreds of DVDs, Apple computer, and more. Also, the furniture is extremely comfortable making the house a great place to hangout. The house is close enough to easily walk to Makawao which is a very friendly town that offers several great dinning / shopping options. Overall, this is a beautiful, well equipped house with a very responsive owner. We stayed here for one month and couldn’t have been happier!
So close to all the North Shore beaches, attractions, and restaurants! And, perfectly situation between the Hana Highway and Haleakala Highway, two of the major attractions Maui has to offer! Only 10 minutes from Makawao Forest!
