Steve and the group were amazing and we loved our trip. What an amazing spot to stay.
Thank you so much!!!
Our family of 10 included 2 grandparents, 4 adults, and 4 kids (7-11). This house had plenty of space for everyone! The kids loved the pool and found a wide variety of pool toys available. There were plenty of towels, both bathroom and beach. It was nice to have 2 washers and 2 dryers. There is a beach just a couple of blocks down from the house. We also did some snorkeling at Sharks Cove. It was also very convenient to the Waimea Valley Gardens. Beach parking on the weekends especially make the drive from Haleiwa a slow drive, so plan ahead. Foodland in Waimea had plenty of food choices. Our flight home didn’t leave until 9pm and Steve allowed us to have extra time on Sunday in the house.
We had a great time - the house was clean and a big house. It is near grocery stores, restaurants, and beaches. It is roomy and comfortable. We had 11 people and it was great. The pool was very clean and the kids enjoyed it every night when we got back from our busy day. We were able to have breakfast and lunch at the house and only ate out at night. It was great to have 2 washing machines. Towel and beach towels were furnished. The porches provided good relaxation.
VERY GREAT VACATION..
My family rented this home for a week in May and it was amazing. It is a perfect location, just a short drive to so many activities. Shark’s cove is minutes away, a perfect spot for snorkeling. The Dole Plantation and the Polynesian Cultural Center are also pretty close.
The views are amazing! The kids loved the pool. The kitchen was great, plenty of space for everyone. We made good use of the barbecue and dining table on the patio. The Wi-Fi was nice, as we Skyped with family on Mother’s day.
We were very happy with the house and would recommend it to anyone looking vacation on Oahu.
The only hiccup was that we forgot a suitcase at the house and didn’t realize until we were already at the airport. Luckily, Steve was so helpful in getting our forgotten items back to us.
We recently spent 12 days at this great rental just outside of Halaiwa (pronounced Hally-eva). The set up was perfect for the nine of us - 6 adults and three children (5, 3,10mos).
On the lower level there are three bedrooms each with King bed, en-suite and huge closet. One also had a single bed. There was also a smaller bedroom with a double bed. There are ceiling fans and screened windows.
Up a wide staircase from a large front hall is the open concept upstairs consisting of a well supplied kitchen (also a blender, microwave, coffee maker, toaster) with a bar and five stools, a table that sat six and a large living room (TV, sectional, etc), 2 pce bathroom, front lanai with ocean views and a small back deck. There was a BBQ with tank on the front deck as well as a table/6 chairs and some lounging chairs. There was a strap on a chair booster seat perfect for the 10 mos old. NOTE TO OWNER - a permanent gate at the top of the stairs would be a great addition to this family house. We angled the footstools at the top of the stairs to corral the baby – it worked but a gate fixed to the wall would be excellent.
Through either the back master bedroom or small bedroom was access to the fenced pool area. The pool is not heated but we found that it felt warmer everyday. The pool deck could have been bigger but there are steps into the pool and three places to sit in the pool on the edges. There are lots of beach toys in bin outside the door of the small bedroom (boogie boards, sand toys, water shoes (all sizes), some snorkel gear) NOTE TO OWNER - new pool furniture is needed for pool area
The location of this rental is excellent: turn right out the driveway and in 5 minutes just past Waimea there is Foodland (good grocery store with good prices), turn left out the driveway and in 8 minutes you're in Halaiwa (grocery store, hardware store, Long's drugstore and lots of little restaurants and shops).
This property is across the Kamehameha Hwy from the beach but is off the road. We had a great view of the waves and there was a place 2 minutes away (turn right out of the driveway) to take your drink and watch the sunset because the sun came down behind some trees and the view was blocked from the lanai.
Take some OFF for mossies and remember to keep the sliders without screens closed in the evening. There are lots of towels provided and there is now a cooler.
This house could have been a very pleasant place to stay, but needs A LOT of work! It appeared that if any cleaning had been done before our arrival, it was only a quick surface cleaning and not very effective. There was gecko poop and dead bugs in every corner upstairs in the living room/kitchen area. The top of the ceiling fans and window ledges were covered with gecko poop and filth. None of the sliding glass doors to the balconies had screens, except for two hanging ones that were not very effective, so flies and other bugs were free to come in when they were open, which is necessary to keep the air circulating throughout the day since there is no AC in the house.. There are two ceiling fans upstairs, and one of them quit working while we were there. After waiting forever for the property manager to return our phone call, we were told an electrician would be by to fix it, and no one ever came. When we complained about the lack of cleanliness of the house, he offered to have the cleaning crew come back in, but then never got back to us on that, and also did not refund the cleaning fee you pay as part of the rental fee. The pool area was also not well maintained, at least two of the chairs by the pool were broken. There was also a dead mouse in the pool filter, gross!! The comforters, sheets, and pillows on some of the beds are very worn and well used and definitely need to be replaced. This house looks like it could have been a wonderful place to stay at one time, but has sadly been neglected and is now not a desirable place to spend your vacation. We were also told there would be two playpens there for us and there was only one until a couple of days later when we finally got the other one. We had a hard time contacting the property manager about anything, and as stated before were told things would be fixed or taken care of and they were not. We would definitely NOT recommend this house to stay in for anyone, especially those with small children like ourselves who are playing/crawling on the floors in the filth. If we go back to this area of Hawaii, we will find a much cleaner and well maintained place to stay!
