Welcome to wine country! Located in the renowned Templeton Gap, this retreat is near some of the finest wineries that the Central Coast has to offer. Picturesque country roads and rolling hills covered with vineyards and almond orchards provide for a peaceful and relaxing setting for your wine country getaway. The 2 bedroom apartment is in fact 2 separate apartments located in our finished barn and connected by a common area. Don't worry you won't be sharing the space with farm animals, just classic cars;-) They are only rented as either a one bedroom apartment for 2 guests or together to accommodate 4 guests. They are not rented to different groups. The main apartment's bedroom, living and kitchen area is located in the upstairs portion of our big red barn. There is 900 square feet of charm and comfort. A wonderfully comfortable king sized bed, spacious living area, flat screen tv (Netflix, Hulu Plus, Amazon Prime) full kitchen and shower bathroom. The second bedroom/apartment is located in the downstairs portion of the barn. PLEASE NOTE - USE OF THIS EXTRA SPACE IS AN ADDITIONAL $125 PER NIGHT. The second bedroom features a king sized Tempurpedic bed, dining area, kitchen sink, mini fridge, microwave, toaster, coffee maker and shower bathroom. The common area that connects the two apartments is our 'man cave.' This area boasts a bar, big screen tv, red leather couches, antique pool table, cocktail tables, stereo system, a 68 Mustang, Porsche 968, Bowflex, and treadmill. The barn itself is situated hilltop of our 10 acre estate and overlooks our own 7 acres of Cabernet vines. From the expansive vineyard views to the alpaca farm and horses that live across the street, there isn't any place you can't park a chair with your glass of wine and enjoy what you see. This is a one of a kind property that never fails to impress.
This was our first visit to the Paso area. We couldn't have chosen a more perfect location to enjoy wine country. The loft is spacious, clean and nicely decorated. The bed is super comfortable. The kitchen is well stocked. Sarah was lovely and helpful when needed but respected our privacy completely. The views of the grape vines and the surrounding hills are breathtaking! The location is convenient to tons of wineries and five minutes to Trader Joes. We especially liked Jada Winery-nice wine, friendly and knowledgable pourers and very dog friendly. We also enjoyed Thomas Hill Organics for lunch. A very charming bistro with excellent food.
I had a lovely stay. I was in Paso for business and this apartment was so nice to come home to. Sarah was a wonderful hostess, the place was very clean, bed very comfortable, beautiful views of rolling hills of grapevines from every window, very quiet and peaceful! I would definitely stay here again!
This place is so great we don't want to review it. We want it all to ourselves!
It is soooo quiet here. We're a couple city slickers, so the sound of construction equipment, trash trucks and helicopters is our unavoidable soundtrack. This Central Coast Retreat is so quiet your ears feel reversed-pressurized trying to hear any noise at all. Because the farmhouse is located up on a knoll, even a passing car sounds like a whisper.
The retreat is a lovely upstairs of a barn. Totally updated, hardwood floors, everything works great. The huge bed is super-comfy for binge-watching "House of Cards" deep into the night. The barn's downstairs is a dude's delight -- a pool table, workout equipment, and a bar (BYOB, of course). The wafting of the scent from the vintage cars parked downstairs may not be to everyone's liking, but we have gasoline in our veins and it was the sweetest perfume (none of the car-aroma reaches into the living quarters, in case you are wondering).
The couple, Sarah and Randy, live in the adjacent house and are totally cool. They keep to themselves and let you enjoy the silence. In fact, they had to come into the barn's downstairs to use an air compressor, and they were really apologetic for invading our space. Are you kidding me? No apology necessary! And when we needed a favor from them -- I needed to find a printer for some job-interview homework -- Sarah was totally cool with it. Great people.
A couple logistical items: It's a 10-minute drive into Templeton, which is no big deal unless you wake up your first morning and realize you don't have OJ, half-and-half or Bloody Mary mix. Stop at the Trader Joe's on the way in, so that you can just bask in the wonder that is this place when you awaken. Also, some VRBO places have laundry washers as part of the amenities; this one does not. Sarah and Randy say that it is available in their living quarters, but what kind of guest imposes on their host like that? Not us, so if you are staying more than a couple days, just pack extra underwear and socks, and you'll be fine.
Oh, and their puppies are super cute, but they're growing up fast!
In short: We. Love. This. Place.
We're a couple in our mid-30s and had a wonderful stay at this cozy and immaculately kept loft in the Templeton Gap. Plenty of space for the two of us, as well as our 7lb dog over a long weekend of relaxing and wine tasting. Use of the pool table and "bar/lounge" downstairs was a bonus - made it feel even more like home. In fact, we only wish we had planned to stay longer (next time!). Very private and quiet...the owners couldn't have been nicer or more accommodating. Thank YOU. Just a short, beautiful drive to Templeton, Paso and all the surrounding areas have to offer, we've already recommended this getaway to several friends.
We had a wonderful time in our cozy home away from home. Sarah and Randy did an outstanding job to make sure ALL our needs were met and that we were comfortable. They are very knowledgeable with the area and made recommondations for places to go. Our place was spotless and they welcomes our crazy Maltese without hesitation. Our only disappointment was when we had to leave. We are already talking about our next trip to the area. THANK YOU for being such great hosts!!
My wife and I stayed there for three nights and had such a wonderful time. The cabin is in one of the most beautiful locations in the Templeton area...very close to many wineries and close to all the towns in the area (Atascadero, Templeton, Paso Robles and Creston). The bed was one of the most comfortable beds we've ever been in, and the cabin was very cozy in general. The pool table and bar in the barn's lower level were a plus. The owners were very accomodating and easy to work with. The cabin is dog friendly and our puppies had a great time walking around the vineyard. We definately recommend this cabin to everyone who wants to feel like they're away from it all while being in the heart of everything. Highway 46 and Paso Robles are the places typically associated with the area wineries, but this area, east of the 101 freeway, is actually home to many fabulous wineries. It's also a great area to go for nice long bicycle rides or even walks while soaking in the scenery. We enjoyed it, and you will too!!!
