TRUE NEW ORLEANS EXPERIENCE!

  • 5 of 5
Location is ideal! We walked to Magazine Street, St. Charles Avenue and all over the Garden District. The house is beautiful, spacious, clean and even better than the pictures show. Will was very easy to work with, I would highly recommend this house for a true New Orleans experience.

BEST HOUSE!

  • 5 of 5
Our families rented houses for my wedding. This house out of all of them was the best! It was clean, HUGE and so comfortable. We had no issues at all and it's in a GREAT location! you can walk to really cool places to eat like the Milk Bar (best sandwiches!!) and some cool bars like the Bulldog. GREAT house and we will rent it again!

FANTASTIC STAY!

  • 5 of 5
We stayed here for a ladies getaway. This house contributed to one of the best weekends of my life! We were all in our thirties and appreciated having enough bathrooms to get ready and space to lounge. The property itself is beautiful and well-kept. The design touches (like the gold swan faucets and hand painted sinks) are fun additions. We cooked in the gourmet kitchen and had a grand dinner at the table in the dining room. There was even a pitcher with a ram's head to use to pour sangria :) The location is great, close to the St. Charles St. Car and a 20 min ride to Bourbon St. If you like to run, I recommend running from the house through uptown to Audubon Park, you will see other nice neighborhoods in New Orleans. The garden district is my favorite though. There is a grocery store and Rite Aid near by so you are covered. Will was a very nice host and gave us helpful tips on the area. Would definitely stay here again!

SPACIOUS; GREAT LOCATION; GREAT WEEKEND GETAWAY

  • 5 of 5
We enjoyed (7 couples) the spacious home with ample room for all of us. It was very convenient to the streetcar and Fresh Market grocery. There was no need for a car; safe neighborhood to walk around in too. The kitchen was very well equiped, though we ate most of our meals out. We enjoyed being able to converse with everyone in our large group without ever feeling crowded. I would recommend having a few more towels for a group this size, though. Other than that, we would definitely go back again.

COULD BE TARA

  • 2 of 5
This could be a wonderful house. The ground floor rooms are big and grand and impressive. The problem is that the house has not been maintained. We had a problem with the heating unit that was not able to be resolved during our stay. This was over Thanksgiving and NOLA was going through a very cold spell. My bedroom window leaked water for the 3 days that it rained, washing machine was not operable, a couple of tub drains did not drain properly, one of ovens did not work, I would say 30% of lights bulbs were missing or burnt out, much of the furniture was stained and the landscaping had been neglected for some time. On the positive side, the location was great, close to restaurants and shops.

NOT THE BEST

  • 3 of 5
Very good location. You can get anywhere you want within a few minutes drive and there are interesting shops, grocers, and restaurants within easy walking distance. We had a get together for extended family and the number of bedrooms was ideal, but some are on the third floor and that can be a lot of stairs for some folks. The owner sounds like a reasonable person when you are making the arrangements, but once you have signed, be ready to be nickeled and dimed.

When we were approaching our stay date, hurricane Isaac was rolling toward New Orleans. I talked to the owner about what we would do if the property was unavailable and he said he didn't have any "cancellation policy" (meaning he didn't plan on any refunds), but not to worry, the property would be fine. We left for NOLA on the day after Isaac and the owner still couldn't assure us that the property was okay and that it had power. He told us not to worry, it would be fine. When we arrived, the cleaning people were still there getting things ready for our arrival. The side yard was unusable and I had to straighten things up myself so that we could just sit on the side porch. The house cleaner told us that they had filmed a reality TV show in the house prior to our arrival, and the house showed some wear and tear from this experience - some rugs were stained, cabinet door in kitchen was off hinges, trash on the side porch that cleaners missed, etc. I don't know what caused the problem, but the back bedroom on the 2nd floor was unusable with the ceiling down in places. It looked like someone had been working on that room, so I don't think it was storm related. The cleaning people had the AC turned very low to cool and dehumidify the house. The thermostats were left turned down that low and had signs saying renter should not bother or adjust. As we went through the house, we found a few issues, like cracks in glass panes in cabinet doors, and we pointed them out to the cleaner.

All of these things detracted from the pristine description noted in the advertisement. When we left NOLA, the owner said we were not going to get all of the deposit back he had promised because of items he was blaming on us that were the way we found the house when we arrived. He ended up withholding $75 for a chain pull on a ceiling fan in the back bedroom we couldn't even use.

The family time in NOLA was very special, but the experience in this house did not add to the experience at all.
