About Tom and Eve Pushaw

Tom is a local builder and grew up in Grand Haven. Eve is from Detroit and has lived in the area for over 20 years.

We enjoy traveling, camping in our 1966 Frolic camper and being outdoors. We have enjoyed renovating our homes… finding the homes in rough shape and transforming them into their original splendor!

Tom and Eve Pushaw purchased this house in 2004

Why Tom and Eve Pushaw chose Grand Haven

The Howard House is located within a quiet neighborhood but is close to all of the downtown activities. You are walking distance to the boardwalk, beach, restaurants, shopping, library etc.

Many guests tell us that they feel like they are at a 'home away from home!' They mention the antique furniture, stain glass windows and our kitchens the most :)

We have designed and decorated our properties to feel like homes!

What makes this house unique

The Howard House offers convience...everything you need is within walking distance! The only time you will need your car is to go to the grocery store and to be honest that is not even necessary during the week...there are specialty markets downtown for basic needs and unique purchases!

The Howard House has a front porch swing to enjoy a cup of coffee or read a book. The back patio is a perfect place for kids to play and parents to feel comfortable and relax. There is a downstairs bedroom for for those that have difficulty with stairs and the home has a fully equipped kitchen with an open floor plan to enjoy meals at home.

Guestbook comments from the owner

As you know,a house(home)sets the stage - Each of us oohed and aahed when we came in, it felt so inviting and beautiful. The renovation was terrific, beautifully finished, everything! And Eve, we loved all of your touches, it makes a house homey and warm.

We walked, relaxed, laughed and ate! A perfect vacation for all of us! Loved the town, have to come back and visit the many more great things to see and do.

Again, Thanks for everything, it was the highlight of the year for us.

Howard House

  • 5 of 5

Our family has stayed at the Howard House 3 times in the past year and a half and comes highly recommended. The house is nicely decorated, clean, and maintains the charm of the late 1800s while having every modern amenity along with a fully equipped kitchen. The area is quiet while being central to all you could want to see and do in Grand Haven. We had everything we needed and the owner was very helpful with any questions regarding the property or about Grand Haven. We loved the covered front porch; the spot for our daily morning coffee making it the perfect place to relax. We’ll be back to Grand Haven and stay at the Howard House again. Many thanks for great memories!

The Howard House is perfect for a gals' getaway weekend

  • 4 of 5

This comfortable house definitely felt like home for a long weekend with friends during ArtPrize in Grand Rapids and Grand Haven ArtWalk. Even though it was a rainy weekend no one minded staying inside to relax wth good friends, food and wine. Pleasant neighborhood for walking. The site accurately described everything included. The owners gave some thoughtful details throughout The Howard House. I would recommend to others coming to beautiful western Michigan

Corner Porch

  • 4 of 5

Another fun and enjoyable family vacation in Grand Haven, this was our 6th year for our children and grandchildren to join us. Plenty of room and setting on the porch was wonderful perhaps because we enjoy being outside in the summer. Not a big yard however we were able to play ladder ball and corn hole (two family favorites). The best part I would say is the large dining table where we would all sit around and have breakfast or dinner. Plenty of interesting conversation. The location is great, walk or bike to everything.

Corner Porch: Great Location; Great Restoration

  • 4 of 5

This is a review for The Corner Porch, where we stayed with three of our children (12, 15 and 20) in July and were one of the first renters after Tom and Eve opened the property. The property is a 100 year old house of character (some floors that slope and some doors that don't shut all the way). We loved it. The location is fantastic, and the restoration is great on the inside and nearly complete on the outside. We compare it to two other houses our family rented during the week---this one was far cleaner and superior. Furniture is complete and comfortable. We enjoyed the wrap around porch especially and when Tom and Eve saw us there they stopped by to say hello. We told them the house had everything we needed, but couldn't find a can opener. Later that day a can opener was delivered. The small patio in back has a grill. The patio area is not very private, but it certainly is nice to have. Overall it was a very comfortable and convenient place to stay.

Great place, great owners

  • 5 of 5

Tom & Eve did a top notch job renovating "this old house", updating all the important components, decorating with nostalgia pieces, and providing a bright, cheery place to hang out for a week. Snagging a weekly winter rental in this area is difficult, and after "losing" two condos due to the owners suddenly finding seasonal renters, we came upon Howard House. So conveniently located (3 blocks to downtown, 2 to the riverfront), this house was a total delight. The pictures don't lie. Tom & Eve know how to provide everything you need for a great vacation. A dream kitchen!

A Perfect House - Pristine, Beautiful and Relaxing

  • 5 of 5

This was our second visit to Grand Haven, and our first time in this house. We absolutely LOVED this house - beautifully and tastefully decorated, comfortable, clean, well equipped, well maintained and 3 ways to enjoy the outdoors (back patio, front porch with swing, and roof deck). I especially liked the roof top deck where I could escape for 20 minutes of peace without the kids realizing it! Located in a quiet neighborhood with friendly neighbors, this house is easy walking distance to everything in town. We loved walking to the shops, restaurants, fountain and ice cream every evening, Imaginarium, splash pad, and the July 4 fireworks with all the festivities! It's just a short drive to the beach with plenty of parking and easy access. What a wonderful town! I would wholeheartedly recommend this house! !00% satisfied!
