Photos and Description of the Kenwood vacation condo rental
Condo, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 2 Baths, (Sleeps 4-6)

The property is located directly on the 10th fairway of the Oakmont Village Valley Lakes Course (there are two public courses in Oakmont, our guests may use both). The views from the kitchen, breakfast nook, living room and master bedroom all look out on the fairway and have a mountain backdrop. Seldom would you look out and not see a doe with her fawns walking by or stretched out next to the house or just below the master bedroom window. Sometime 6-8 deer at a time. Rabbits, birds (geese, ducks, wild turkeys, woodpeckers, robins) are usually there also. Even a little red fox stops by and puts his nose on the breakfast nook window. Bring your camera.

The home sleeps four in two separate bedrooms. The master bedroom is large and features a queen-sized bed. If you are a book lover, there are shelves of books for guests along one of the walls. It has a private bath with a shower. The view from this room is of the fairway. You can watch deer go by while lying in bed, plus, there is a mountain view.

The second bedroom has a king-sized bed. The bathroom for that bedroom is steps away in the hallway. The window in this room provides nice lighting but does not look out onto the golf course.

The living room has a pullout sofa bed that can sleep two, and also has book shelves where guests may help themselves to books. The dining room table seats six. There is a flat screen TV in the living room.

There is an outdoor patio fronting the golf course with a table for dining for four. The BBQ cooker is located on the patio.

Included is a full kitchen with oven, microwave, dishwasher, refrigerator and a plethora of plates and silverware, and plenty of pots and pans. The view from the kitchen also includes the golf course.

In the breakfast nook area, there is a hard wired computer with a 19' monitor; the connection is Broadband Internet. Printer included. Guests may connect their own laptop to the high speed Internet connection, or connect to WiFi also.

In the living room, a 47' flat screen HD TV with extensive channels available.

A one-car garage with access into the house from the garage is included. There is room to also park in one space in the driveway.

The key attraction to this one-story home is there are no adjoining walls to other units. This is a stand-alone, single-story (no steps to climb), condo and of course, there is no one above you either. It's pin-drop quiet and peaceful.

It is in an age 55+ community so no children are allowed. One of the renters needs to be at least 55 years-old. The owners, who stay there often, insist on absolutely no smoking inside or outside the property as one is terribly allergic to cigarette smoke.

Loud parties are forbidden. This is a quiet, peaceful, relaxing place.

Keywords: View from kitchen, den, living room, master br and patio is of fairway and mountains. Single story, immaculate, private, quiet as a pin drop, great reviews, people return year after year.

About The Owner

We are Tom and Greta. Greta is a retired special education teacher of 31 years. Tom is an expert on dating after 50 (Today Show and Good Morning America) and has authored several books on the topic. He is also a syndicated newspaper columnist, and has owned Tutor and Spunky's Deli in Dana Point, California, for 24 years. We have owned property for 33 years in the village of Oakmont. In 2006, we purchased this home because of its golf course location and while it is a condo, it's just like a stand alone house because there are no adjoining walls. We have elected to make our home a vacation rental because we want time to be able to come here and stay ourselves, which we do several times a year. Do we love it? You bet. We are proud of the 5-star reviews on the property

The Owner purchased this condo in 2006
Why The Owner chose Kenwood

The property is in the heart of the Valley of the Moon, with the St Francis Vineyard (the bell tower chimes on the hour) less than a mile away. This ideal location is located on the 10th fairway of the Oakmont Village Valley Lakes Golf Course (a 100-yard walk to the starter's shack--public course). The Oakmont deli and market is just a five minute drive away. It's very quiet and private. Perhaps the biggest reason we love our home: the parade of deer, rabbits, wild turkeys, geese and birds directly in front of the property. Occasionally, a red fox puts his nose on the breakfast nook window. Beyond the direct view of the fairway, the mountains are in the background. Very peaceful. The property is 8 miles east of Santa Rosa via US 12 and about 18 miles west of the town of Sonoma.

What makes this condo unique

For golfers, the pro shop/starters shack for the front and back nines of this executive course is 100 yards away. We love the nearby vineyards--20 of them within a 10-minute drive, including Ledson (5 minutes), St Francis (3 minutes) and Kenwood, Kunde, Chateau St. Jean, Landmark, and Blackstone. Sonoma Co. has more than 240 wineries, all within an hour's drive. And then there are the wonderful restaurants nearby, including Kenwood, where the food is great and celebrities can sometimes be seen. We saw Tommy Smothers at the restaurant not long ago. But, it's the peace, quiet and beauty of the area that caps it off.

In the unit, Wi-Fi as well as high speed cable are present. TV includes an HD 47' Flat Screen.

We keep coming back!! Just like a home away from home.

This third time here we took in a San Francisco city tour and the iconic show "Beach Blanket Babylon", which we highly recommend. Our winery highlight this time was the Castillo Di Amorosa ( Castle of Love)... That does indeed take u back to the medieval days. Also, highly suggest the Culinary Institute of America for a special treat. Perfect location...too much to do, not enough time. Guess we will have to come again. :-)

Great vacation or summer home!

My husband and I spent three months in this comfortable, well furnished home in beautiful Napa/Sonoma wine country and we highly recommend it. After a day of visiting the nearby wineries and unique shops, it was great to come "home," pick a book from the extensive library provided or open a bottle of wine and relax on the patio with the friendly deer grazing on the golf course or resting under the big oak tree. The deer are not frightened by the golfers coming through, and the golfers do not seem to mind waiting for a mother deer leading her young fawns across a green.

Needless to say, there are excellent retaurants here in the wine coutry, including the world-famous French Laundry. We liked Cafe Citti in nearby Kenmore for informal and very good Italian pasta dinners.

We are tennis players, and the owners arranged for us to use Oakmont's friendly tennis courts. If you play golf, there are two public courses available for you. Or, you can get your exercse in Oakmont's state of the art Fitness Center. Bridge? there's that too!

All in all, we enjoyed our stay here and we think you will too.

Great visit!

We ended up having to take a quick last minute trip to visit relatives in Santa Rosa and Tom was able to accommodate our last minute weekend request. The place was terrific; exactly how he described it. It was very inviting with the number of books to sort through, all the lovely artwork and it had all the comforts of home so we didn't have to bring anything! There were 4 of us and with two bathrooms and two bedrooms, we had privacy but was able to enjoy leisurely meals in the dining room. We were even lucky enough to spot some deer in the morning feasting on their breakfast right outside the window! As mentioned, this is a very quiet residential area so if you're there to drink and party after visiting wineries, this place is probably not for you. But if you need a respite from all the winery visits, want a quiet respite from the hubbub - check this place out!

Owner's Response: Esther's description is perfect! It is very difficult to convince those deer to dine outside the window when new guests arrive. Fortunately, deer are seen pretty much daily at this little slice of heaven location. Thanks for your comments Esther, you and your family were perfect guests.

Quaint detached unit on the golf course. The course is not crowded and makes for a leisurely game. There are dozens of wineries in the area. Several companies offer tasting tours. Wildlife stroll right off the patio throughout the day. The only stress felt on this trip was should we golf or visit the vineyards. Similar dilemma was encountered when picking from the great restaurants to dine.
The unit sleeps 6 and is spacious enough for more than 6 to socialize so you can invite friends over for grilling or dinner.

Owner's Response: We like the dilemmas when the choice is to golf or visit winerys and having to choose from great restaurants. Thank you for the nice comment.

Perfect Location for Touring both Napa.Sonoma Wine Country

My husband and I spent the month of August and were very happy with our accomodations. The animals in the back yard described were a delight to view from the living room and patio area. The home was exceptionaly clean and a good size for 2 bedrooms. Very very quiet which I loved. The owner was a dellight to work with and is one of the reasons I decided to rent his home. The location was great because we were able to tour all of Napa and the Sonoma area plus was only 1 hour drive from San Francisco. Restaurants nearby in Glen Ellen were wonderful and the home is close to many wineries. Would recommend very much.
