A Quiet, Comfortable Cabin

My family just spent a wonderful week at this cabin in the North East Kingdom of Vermont. Several highlights stand out about the charming, comfortable Standish cottage. First, you would have a hard time finding a place that offers this much privacy and serenity. You will enjoy the the quiet surroundings and amazing mountainous views. Second, even summer nights can be cool in Vermont, and the cabin is outfitted with a sturdy heater in the living room and the gas lights also seemingly provide some heat. Speaking of nights, I have NEVER seen as many stars in the sky as I did during our stay. You will be utterly mesmerized. Warm during the day? Open the conveniently screened windows and enjoy the fresh Vermont breeze.
While we've never experienced gas lighting or an "off the grid" home before, we quickly and easily acclimated to this style of living and feel confident that you will too. The well stocked kitchen had all the plates, glassware, silverware and cookware that you could possibly need. There was plenty of hot water in the fully functional bathroom, and the fridge kept all our fresh food perfectly cold. A nice stock of board games helped foster some great family time in the evenings. The drive up the road to the house is steep but fairly easy in the summer, and we were glad to have an all wheel drive vehicle to make this trek even easier. The town of Barton is mere minutes away, and features the C&C, a full service grocery store. Be sure to stop by the charming drug store cafe in town and enjoy some of the best tasting soft serve ice cream around.
Finally, there are two major aspects to a successful stay in any home away from home: The property itself, and those that own the property. I can't speak highly enough of the excellent communication I had with the owner, who was always available for questions/coordination prior to our stay and personally guided us through the property on the first day of our visit. If you are considering a stay at this cabin, I definitely encourage you to do so. You will be in good hands.

Owner's Response: Thanks for your kind words. Something about our cabin seems to attract the most delightful people: We have been blessed by families like this and groups like the others who have reviewed here. I only hope our good fortune continues and new renters are able to appreciate the unique experience of the cabin, property and surrounds.
