Ready to get out? Asheville is only a ten minute scenic drive away! Great restaurants offer every imaginable cuisine. Unique local shops, galleries, and antique stores abound in Asheville. Arts, entertainment, and concerts are available every day. The Biltmore Estate is ten minutes from your chalet, and it is a mere 4 minutes to the Blue Ridge Parkway with its fabulous vistas and clear blue skies... The North Carolina Arboretum, Parkway headquarters, and Folk Art Center are here as well. The Grove Park Inn and Spa is one of many fabulous spas in the area. Asheville has attracted many great artists, crafts-people, musicians, has the best healthcare facilities in the area, and is a major center for alternative healthcare services.
Are active pursuits more your style? How about hiking, rock climbing, golf, or horseback riding? Do some flat water or whitewater paddling right in the city on the French Broad River. Area outfitters offer many day trips from Asheville to the French Broad, Tuckaseegee,Green, Nantahala or Nolichucky Rivers for exciting family raft trips or thrilling solo kayaking! The North Carolina Outward Bound headquarters is only minutes from the chalet. Fly fishing, birding, motorcycling, and many other activities are available. In Winter, ski and snowboard at Beech Mountain or Sugar, about an hour and a half from the chalet.
Several festivals highlight our summer and fall seasons: Bele Chere offers arts, crafts, entertainment, and family activities, and is the largest street festival in the South. Downtown After Five free outdoor concerts, Shindig on the Green, and the Goombay Festival are other free events throughout the Summer months. Chimney Rock Park, Grandfather Mountain, and Lake Lure are less than an hour's drive. Make our mountain home your favorite vacation spot! We look forward to meeting you!
