Firelight River Cottage is a recently renovated 2 bedroom/1bunkroom cottage located at the convergence of the Chestatee River and Town Creek in historic Dahlonega, Georgia. River rapids, expansive, level lawn, colorful flower gardens, and campfire rings are at your doorstep.
The beautiful, pastoral setting is the perfect place to get away from it all. It is nestled in the heart of North Georgia’s wine country (5 wineries are within a 2-5 mile radius of the cottage).
The property is a fisherman’s dream. It offers many easy, level entry points into the river which is stocked with rainbow, brook, & brown trout. The natural beach is an inviting spot for sunning and swimming.
Three patios provide lovely areas for outdoor cooking and dining.
Golfers may enjoy playing a round at Achasta, a Jack Nicholas signature course.
Trail rides are available through nearby stables. Shops, museums and restaurants are just a 10 minute drive away in charming, historic Dahlonega.
The fully stocked kitchen, HD TV with sports package, and huge wood-burning fireplace make indoor living fun.

The Owner purchased this cottage in 2009
The charming and historic mountain town of Dahlonega, GA influenced our decision to invest here. Three wineries are located within 2 miles of the property. World class trout fishing is available on the property. Hiking and biking opportunities surround us. Cute shops and wonderful restaurants abound.
We have just completed a total renovation of the property. Lovely gardens grace the lush lawn that stretches from the cottage to the river. Fishermen enjoy numerous, level entry points into the Chestatee. . When guests are inside, a flat screen TV with sports package, huge wood burning fireplace, and fully equipped kitchen make indoor living fun.
My husband and I just enjoyed 5 lazy days at the cottage. We started each day by feeding the trout that hang out in a cool, deep hole near our campfire ring. We spent our mornings gardening, traveling and hiking along the Russell Scenic Highway, shopping in Dahlonega, tubing the river (right in front of the cottage), and having lunch in town. Each afternoon, we sat in beach chairs with our feet in the cool river water while we read great books. We prepared gourmet meals and dined outside under the stars every evening.
We have worked for 2 years to perfect this lovely place. It is in pristine condition. The only thing better than sharing it with others, is spending quite time there with each other.
Very nice cottage and surroundings, excellent for kids, teenagers, pets have a huge lawn and forest to run and explore plus the river to swim in. Excellent location for activities as we did tubing on the river, horseback riding, zip lining, hiking, fishing and visiting the vineyards all within an hour drive. The cottage is comfortable and well stocked, the beds are comfortable so we fully recommend to all that staying here is a great vacation and getaway.
We stayed for a week and have decided we want to return next summer for at least 2 weeks. One week is not enough for this beautiful location. We had trouble with the water in the house a couple times but my husband said he didn't care if he had to bathe in Gatorade, he wasn't leaving. The problem was quickly handled. Honestly the most beautiful property in North Georgia! The whole family agreed it was the best vacation we have had. Cute house, completely stocked with everything you could possible need. Heaven on earth! Wonderful owners! A+
As soon as I saw the property, I fell in love. The house was quaint and cozy. Even though were just a few minutes away from town, it was very private. The water around the property made it even better!!! I hope to come back again during the summertime.
We spent presidents Day weekend out of the hustle and bustle of city life. While the cabin is not large estravagant, It is decorated nicely we and the other couple we were with felt it was comfortable & cozy. We dined out once, but were really impressed with the well stocked kitchen. It even had a crockpot which was great to come home to after a day out & about. We played games, hiked, visited the local vinyards, shopped in downtown Dahlonega and spent hours at the firepit at the rivers edge. The water was crystal clear and could see several large trout. We will be back !
Stayed here with my two kids (13 & 6) for 3 nights/4 days and we had the best time!!
The cottage was clean, comfortable, and completely private. We had loads of fun tubing and seeing all of the wonderful sites that Dahlonega has to offer. The beds and pillows were very comfortable which was a huge plus for us.
Carol and David were so helpful throughout the entire trip both before and during.
I would highly recommend this place and will look forward to visiting again in the future.
A very comfortable and relaxing place. Even though we came to visit the wineries in the area, we found ourselves spending lots of time sitting on the porch or by the stream, listening to the sounds of the water and watching the wildlife (lots of birds and squirrels, a turtle or two, and even a couple of deer one morning). The setting is so serene and beautiful, it's hard to leave. The cottage itself is very comfortable and pleasant. The beds are comfortable, the kitchen is one of the best-equipped you'd find at any rental place. Our child is grown, but I would imagine families with younger children will have a great time here. But really, we would recommend this place to anyone.
