Overview

Beaver Bay House Rental Photos and Description

House, 3 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 6)

The unique feature of this property is the spectacular panoramic high bluff view of Lake Superior. The view is unobstructed and spans the town of Silver Bay to the south and Palisade Head to the north. The A-frame structure features vaulted 2-story window views facing east to Lake Superior. Relax or dine on a second-story deck that provides expansive views along the north shore, Lake Superior, and the sun setting through the woods. The A-frame is completely secluded on 6 wooded acres.

Another unique feature is the location. Less than a mile away, the town of Sliver Bay provides easy access for groceries, wine and spirits, movie rentals, eateries, and gas. Beaver Bay is 5 minutes south with more restaurants and tourist shops. With several state parks nearby, guests will find numerous hiking and biking trails, waterfalls, and scenic views. A snowmobile/ATV trail system is within walking distance of the property.

The A-frame was completed in 2009 and is a perfect blend of new amenities and an 'up north' interior decor complete with log railings, furniture, and tongue & groove throughout. The great room has a vaulted ceiling and panoramic unobstructed views of Lake Superior. Enjoy an even more expansive view from an outdoor seating area on the edge of the bluff.

About Dave Nobbe

We are full-time working professionals who love to get away on the north shore. We have many fond memories from our own childhood of spending vacation time up north, and then created new ones with our 2 children. It is a setting that appeals to those who want to do nothing but relax & enjoy the beauty of the north shore, to those that prefer to be active outdoors.

Dave Nobbe purchased this house in 2008

Why Dave Nobbe chose Beaver Bay

We chose this property for the unique expansive view of Lake Superior. An added plus is the location and proximity to many state parks, Lutsen Ski Resort, restaurants and stores.

What makes this house unique

The view of Lake Superior changes constantly so we enjoy the ever-changing scenery. We continue to find new scenic locations that are accessible on short or long hikes, or on recreational vehicle trails. The views are spectacular both inside and outside so the weather does not inhibit full enjoyment of the beauty of the north shore.

We had a wonderful time at the A Frame. We did a little hiking and a lot of ATV riding. Its awesome to unload the ATVs' and not have to put them back on the trailer until you leave. The views from the A frame are amazing!

An Unbeatable Minnesota Retreat for Any Season

  • 5 of 5
Being from Northern Minnesota my usual preference for a winter break includes beaches, palm trees, and ocean air. But the amazing views from the warm A-Frame made me almost forget it was winter outside. The full moon over Lake Superior on the first night was mesmerizing! The telescope positioned by the huge patio windows facing the lake is a great touch and we spent plenty of time gazing at the moon. The radiant in-floor heat is very cozy soon after arrival and lends itself to the quiet surround of this property. We enjoyed the snowmobile trails in the Silver Bay and Finland area all day on Saturday; truly some of the best kept trails I have ridden. The large flat screen TV was great for catching some of the Winter Olympics! I found the A-frame to be meticulously clean and well equipped with just about anything you need. The owner was great to deal with in preparation for the weekend getaway. There was one common complaint among our group; that we couldn't stay longer!

Winter Getaway

  • 5 of 5
My husband and I rented this home while our daughter was working on location at a film being shot near Silver Bay. She and her three month old son stayed with us so that she could be close to the set and we could babysit while she worked. (This also gave her hubby a break back in the Twin Cities!). We booked this home for its convenient location - but we were so impressed with the beautiful surroundings and stunning Lake Superior views! The home was spacious and comfortable. The kitchen was well outfitted, and the beds and linens were very comfortable. We all had one minor complaint: the water pressure in both showers was low. But this was not a deal breaker for us; it just takes bit longer to rinse your hair. Since we were somewhat housebound with the baby, I spent quite a bit of time reading. A nice reading lamp in the living room would have been helpful. The home has two magnificent decks that I imagine get plenty of use in the summer months. Dave (the owner) was very responsive and pleasant to deal with. This house served as an ideal base for touring the beautiful North Shore and I hope to return with my girlfriends next summer!

Absolutely Stunning Winter Wonderland

  • 5 of 5
Our first impression was the stunning view and the sparkling cleanliness of the space. We were lucky to have the perfect weather (namely lots of snow) for a quiet winter retreat. It got quite cold outside but stayed warm and toasty inside. We cooked a signifcant brunch and dinner each day and appreciated the beautiful gas stove and the dishwasher! We went on a lovely showshoing hike on the trail just down the road, and had fun trying to identify the various animal tracks we found in the snow. We saw a few deer and believe it or not a bald eagle swooped by the huge front windows! In addition to hybernating in the beautiful space, we snowshoed Devils Kettle (quite a hike!), visited Grand Marais, and checked out the river mouth in tettagouch. The ice formations on the falls and all around the water were beatuful. The entire trip was utterly dreamy. We hope to return someday!

The house and location were more than expected! The house was well furnished, comfortablea and had a great view. It was easy to locate.
We enjoyed many of the owners suggestions about the local area including the hidden beach and waterfall.
We will definitely be back!

You will not want to leave the "A-House"!

You will not want to leave the "A-House"!

This rental FAR exceeded our expectations! Our party included 6 adults and 2 small children, and the space was perfect. The kitchen facilities were awesome and the bedrooms were unbelievably comfortable. We were able to enjoy one of the outdoor fire pits and viewed falling stars and even what seemed to be a faint aurora borealis. The views of the sunrises and sunsets over Lake Superior from the cabin were absolutely spectacular. Three of the adults in our party were participating in the Superior Sawtooth 100 mile trail run, and the cabin provided easy access to the Superior Hiking Trail. We also checked out some of "Dave's Faves" (fantastic!) including the nearby hidden beach. We didn't want to leave. Highly recommend this rental to anyone!!
