We have owned our property in Sonoma County for 35 years. I have been a publisher of note cards and prints and I have two daughters 27 and 33 who grew up here but now live in Europe/Arizona. My studio is in a barn on the property and I own another house next door (not visible from the cottage) where we have had the same loyal tenants for 35 years. The property is surrounded by many acres of rural open space. The land below the house has fruit trees and a cottage style garden with lots of wonderful flowers which return years after with the seasons. Sometimes fresh tomatoes, herbs or other garden produce is available to guests.

Very safe neighborhood and close to all local amenities.

I have spent 30 years in sales, design and marketing in the business community in California and have many connections and resources available. To see some of my landscape images of our area at 'nautilusimages'.

I had always wanted to be a 'tour guide!, but our vacation rental now allows me the opportunity to share this area I love with visitors. We welcome you to our land, your special place to stay.

Relaxing Retreat

My partner and I stayed for 3 nights in early November. We needed a cozy place with a kitchen to rest, relax and explore Sonoma County that was close to San Francisco. This place was ideal. It was a perfect base for our day trips in the region, with comfortable beds and an extremely functional kitchen. It was so nice to wake up each morning and look out at the mountains and the ever-changing light. I would highly recommend this spot for vacationers and weekenders alike!

My 95 year old mom, standard poodle and I were fortunate to find this cottage on line. Mary was a wonderful hostess and made sure we had everything we needed. Being from Las Vegas we enjoyed the cool summer mornings and evenings and spent most of our time on the deck. It's a perfect spot to relax and enjoy a cup of coffee and take in the beautiful garden and scenery beyond.

A cozy cottage with pretty views from the deck

Our family of 4 (2 adults, 2 small children) had a relaxing 4 night stay at Penngrove Gardens Cottage during spring and we felt fortunate to have found this cozy cottage. The owner, Mary, met us on arrival and gave us helpful advice both before and during our vacation. We all enjoyed the garden and although there are other properties on the site, the cottage is private. The rear deck, which overlooks the gardens and more distant hills as well as a neighbour's field, was a lovely spot to sit with a morning coffee or a glass of wine in the evening and enjoy the changing light. The cottage itself is comfortably furnished and Mary has thoughtfully chosen artworks and floor rugs, which add interest and a distinct style. We found the location particularly good for drives across to the Sonoma and Marin county coastal areas. Mary has lots of brochures and books about the local area available for reference at the cottage. It was also an easy drive to Sonoma, where we enjoyed an excellent lunch highlighting local produce at 'The Girl and the Fig'. We found Penngrove Gardens Cottage a comfortable base from which to explore the area and we would recommend it especially to a couple or other families with children.

The cottage was perfect for our needs. We really enjoyed our stay there. Mary is a sweetheart and really made sure that we had everything that we needed. We'll plan on staying there again on our next trip out that way.

Truly Enjoyed Our Stay - Charming, Modern Features and Centrallly Located

My wife and I recently booked this cottage in Penngrove for a trip up to wine country. I looked through so many properties in our price range, and of the few we liked, this one seemed to really fit the bill. My conversations with the owner on the phone were very easy, she was straightforward, pleasant, and responsive. Booking the place was very easy.

When we arrived, she was there to greet us and the cottage was exactly what we had assumed from the description. We were pleased with the level of quality of the cottage both inside and out. The paint, trim, and kitchen features all have been recently updated, and the kitchen had more than we could ask for as far as cooking staples and tools. Also, the wi-fi was very nice to have.

The owner was extremely courteous. One of our concerns (why we have not used vrbo.com very much) with this type of property is the privacy, as well as feeling like you are just sleeping in a strangers house. Much to our relief, this cottage does not convey that feeling whatsoever. While the property does have another home on it, the orientation and location of the cottage means you virtually cannot tell. She even made a point to assure us that our privacy was one of her main concerns, and she would not be jeopardizing that.

This place is very clean and neat, with a few nice little details you can tell come from the owner. The most obvious is the outside garden, which is beautiful and peaceful. You can tell she cares by the quality of the home and her obvious desire to keep her renters as happy as possible.

Penngrove is near Petaluma and the Sonoma/Napa area is about 35 minutes the other direction. We ate dinner at an amazing restaurant in Petaluma our first night (arrival), and then spent the day in Napa and Sonoma the following day. After the heat and the wine, it was nice to come back to the secluded cottage to relax and talk. There is a great organic market in Cotati, where I got all of the fixings for a home cooked breakfast our final morning...all of these and many more points are outlined in her "guide" that she leaves there for you.

Overall, this is a great little place to stay, and I cannot really think of anything negative to report. Just yesterday we received a card in the mail from her wishing us well and thanking us for staying.
