We have owned our property in Sonoma County for 35 years. I have been a publisher of note cards and prints and I have two daughters 28 and 34 who grew up here but now live in Europe/Arizona. My studio is in a barn on the property and I own another house next door (not visible from the cottage) where we have had the same loyal tenants for 35 years. The property is surrounded by many acres of rural open space. The land below the house has fruit trees and a cottage style garden with lots of wonderful flowers which return years after with the seasons. Sometimes fresh tomatoes, herbs or other garden produce is available to guests.
Very safe neighborhood and close to all local amenities.
I have spent 30 years in sales, design and marketing in the business community in California and have many connections and resources available. To see some of my landscape images of our area at 'nautilusimages'.
I had always wanted to be a 'tour guide!, but our vacation rental now allows me the opportunity to share this area I love with visitors. We welcome you to our land, your special place to stay.

My wife and I recently booked this cottage in Penngrove for a trip up to wine country. I looked through so many properties in our price range, and of the few we liked, this one seemed to really fit the bill. My conversations with the owner on the phone were very easy, she was straightforward, pleasant, and responsive. Booking the place was very easy.
When we arrived, she was there to greet us and the cottage was exactly what we had assumed from the description. We were pleased with the level of quality of the cottage both inside and out. The paint, trim, and kitchen features all have been recently updated, and the kitchen had more than we could ask for as far as cooking staples and tools. Also, the wi-fi was very nice to have.
The owner was extremely courteous. One of our concerns (why we have not used vrbo.com very much) with this type of property is the privacy, as well as feeling like you are just sleeping in a strangers house. Much to our relief, this cottage does not convey that feeling whatsoever. While the property does have another home on it, the orientation and location of the cottage means you virtually cannot tell. She even made a point to assure us that our privacy was one of her main concerns, and she would not be jeopardizing that.
This place is very clean and neat, with a few nice little details you can tell come from the owner. The most obvious is the outside garden, which is beautiful and peaceful. You can tell she cares by the quality of the home and her obvious desire to keep her renters as happy as possible.
Penngrove is near Petaluma and the Sonoma/Napa area is about 35 minutes the other direction. We ate dinner at an amazing restaurant in Petaluma our first night (arrival), and then spent the day in Napa and Sonoma the following day. After the heat and the wine, it was nice to come back to the secluded cottage to relax and talk. There is a great organic market in Cotati, where I got all of the fixings for a home cooked breakfast our final morning...all of these and many more points are outlined in her "guide" that she leaves there for you.
Overall, this is a great little place to stay, and I cannot really think of anything negative to report. Just yesterday we received a card in the mail from her wishing us well and thanking us for staying.
My husband and I had the occasion to stay at Mary's cottage for 6 weeks while visiting our son who lives in San Francisco. We wanted a place with easy access to the city and yet plenty of places to visit in northern California. The cottage was ideal for us and we had a wonderful stay. We had easy access to the coast, the redwoods, the wine country and the city. We fell in love with Sonoma and so much of our great experience had to do with this Penngrove cottage. It was fully equipped, very comfortable, had a wonderful deck overlooking Mary's flower garden and the Sonoma hills. Mary was also very helpful with information about the local area. We would recommend this cottage to anyone wanting to explore Sonoma county, Marin county and the north bay area.
Our family of 3 + our little dog just spent a week in this lovely and charming little cottage. The place is spacious enough and has a decent sized kitchen for cooking which we did a lot of. Mary was an awesome host and was very wonderful in setting up our accommodations and keeping in touch as well as giving us privacy while we were there. We will be back hopefully this summer.
As far as sight seeing there are many beautiful trails to walk and hike and many awesome restaurants to dine in. Petaluma is not far and a wonderful place to grab gourmet coffee and shop. I would Recommend Marys place to everyone. Thank you Mary!
We all loved this cottage, the location made it easy to get to both Napa and San Francisco. Our host was helpful and delightful, she gave us directions and tips for getting around and even printed out maps for us. The cottage had everything we needed. Coffee, plenty of towels etc... there were condiments mayo, mustard, spices for cooking (It was nice to not have to buy all that).
The walls are decorated with beautiful original art and the back patio had flowers blooming everywhere we looked. I would definitely stay here again.
The cottage is nicely redecorated and very clean. The rooms are small but manageable. There is only one bath in the house but in an emergency there is a toilet in another building in the laundry room. The deck is large with a lovely view and there is plenty of roaming space on the property. You do get a bit of traffic noise during the day but very quiet at night. It was nice to spend some time out in the country, and still have access minutes away to the two nearest towns and some fabulous food. Great location for seeing all of Sonoma. Mary is very helpful when needed. Having a laundry was a must for us.
The cottage is situated on a property that's abuts farmland. So the views are beautifully pacific. Farm animals in the foreground and the Sonoma mountains in the distance all visible from a rear deck. The location could not be better; a few minutes to the Rt. 101 entrance, north and south and minutes from the center of Petaluma, Cotati and Rohnert Park. Hated to leave!
Close to both beautiful coastal areas, wineries and rural country side but also very easy to get to S.F., bus available too.
