Kulalani is a beautifully landscaped, peaceful, private, gated neighborhood situated within the Mauna Lani Resort. It is a 25 minute drive north from Kona International Airport, a 10 minute walk to the closest beach, and a 10 minute walk to the closest grocery store.

Our 1,600 sq. ft. home is perfect for 2 to 4 adults who are seeking total relaxation. It is also suitable for a family of four. ( An extra child’s bed or crib is available upon request.) The master bedroom (California King) is on the second floor along with a generous en-suite and private lanai overlooking the 5th green of the Mauna Lani North Golf Course and the Kohala mountains. This is the perfect place to enjoy your morning cup of Kona coffee. The second bedroom (Queen Size) is on the first floor with an adjacent full bathroom. This bedroom has an additional flat screen TV.

Our townhouse is professionally decorated and maintained to the highest standards. The 20-foot ceiling in the living room opens to the kitchen and dining area. The covered, wrap-around lanai overlooks the 5th green of the Mauna Lani North Golf Course. We never tire of the unobstructed mountain view and total privacy. There is a full out-door kitchen on the lanai with a Viking BBQ and wet bar.

It’s important to us that our guests enjoy a wonderful vacation experience during their stay in Hawaii. In order to ensure this, all the necessary amenities are provided. We also entrust our Property Manager, John, to take care of our guests. If you have any questions about the Big Island – he’s your guy. John is only a call away. His response time is so fast he has had guests ask if he lives in the neighborhood!

The Recreation Center in Kulalani is one of the best on the Big Island. There you will find 2.5 acres of beautiful gardens surrounding a lagoon pool, Keiki pool, a half-lap adult pool, two Jacuzzis, a fully-equipped fitness center and a gathering pavilion with outdoor kitchen. The gardens in this area are so beautiful that our daughter held her wedding reception in the Gathering Pavilion in 2013. Our home is located directly across from the entrance to the Recreation Center. It only takes 2 minutes to get from poolside to the fridge to replenish the ice in your drink!

Access to the Owner’s Beach Club is available for your use. This private, gated beach has a safe swimming cove, lifeguards, restaurant, and some of the best snorkeling on the Big Island. There are lounge chairs provided so you only need to pack towels and the cooler when you visit.

The Mauni Lani Bay Hotel and the Fairmont Orchid Hotel are located within the Mauni Lani Resort. The nearby 'Shops of Mauni Lani' have several restaurants, art galleries, gift shops, free entertainment, and a full grocery store with deli, bakery, meat and seafood departments. The Mauna Lani Resort is home to two Championship golf courses, the Francis H. I'i Brown North and South Courses.

About John Landers

My husband and I were born and raised in Vancouver, British Columbia. We have three daughters who are all attending universities. Over the past 15 years we found ourselves traveling to and from Hawaii and just could not stay away. We always dreamed about owning a place in paradise.

Now that we are approaching those 'golden years' that everyone refers to, we thought it would be a good time to make our dream come true by owning a home on the Big Island and traveling back and forth as we have always done.

Why John Landers chose Mauna Lani

We chose to live on the Kohala Coast because of the white sandy beaches that receive less than 10 inches of rain each year. We love the Hawaiian people, culture, food, weather, and the history. We consider ourselves as residents of Hawaii even though we are not there year-round. We are offering you our home and hope that your family will enjoy the same pleasures that our family does when we are there.

What makes this villa unique

Kulalani is a place to heal the mind, spirit, body and soul.

This is our typical day in Kulalani:

We start our day with local fresh fruit and coffee on the 'garden lanai'.

Next, it's to the 'fitness center' for a quick work out or swim.

A picnic lunch is quickly assembled and we are off to one of our many 'favorite beaches'.

In the mid-afternoon (after we've had enough sand), we return to the 'lagoon pool' with a book and have another swim.

'Happy Hour' typically starts around 4:00 p.m. and gently takes us into the 'sunset' part of the day.

Now it's back to the lanai for 'catch of the day' fresh off the BBQ.

Retirement to the upstairs lanai is our next stop, where we sip our 'Special Coffees' and assume 'Star Watch' position.

Bed time usually comes early so that we can . . . . (brace yourself)

Best Vacation Ever

This town home had everything! Fully stocked kitchen, beach toys for the kids, beach chairs for the adults, even a beach umbrella. The best was the two bikes for our own use. We used them to explore all over the resort. We could ride to the nearest beach at the Fairmont Hotal to watch the turtles, to the nearby grocery store, or to the Beach Club. Of all the beaches that we visited, The Beach Club was our favourite. It had easy access, white sand, crystal clear water, loungers for our use, and the best snorkelling on the island. We spent so much time at the Beach Club, we hardly had time to use the recreation centre which was directly across from our unit. We did enjoy the tranquility and quiet of the adult pool as the sun was setting. From watching the sun come up in the morning over Mauna Kea, to looking at Mauna Loa from the upstairs lanai, and the Kohala Mountains to the north, this place was two weeks of pure heaven.

Continuing Satisfaction

Our fourth stay at this excellent location did nothing to lessen our enjoyment of the area. The home is well kept, comfortable and clean. As in the past, management was polite, professional and interested in making sure that we were satisfied with everything under their control. Highly recommended. We will be back for future visits and have suggested to friends that they consider this unit when visiting the area.

Perfect situation

My husband and I have just returned from a month long stay at this condo which had everything we (the plus being the bikes that we got good use out of on a daily basis). We were joined by another couple for a week and the layout is such that we had complete privacy in our respective bedrooms/bathrooms which was another bonus.

Found the whole process of booking/payment for this rental was very straightforward and did appreciate the home insurance option which took the place of the usual damage deposit and was extremely reasonable. Directions to the condo were excellent and the manager was welcoming and helpful in every way.

The whole complex is well situated for getting the most out of the north and south Kohala coast, nothing being too far away and with lots of easy walking in the immediate vicinity. Absolutely loved the lap pool and exercise facility on site.

We stayed in June of 2014 and we forgot to write a review, but I just went to start looking at rebooking and thought I'd add one. So yes we would stay again. This was a

a great place to stay and exactly what we wanted because we like to cook and don't like large hotels/resorts. The house was clean and comfortable, and close to great beaches, golf courses and the pool area was clean and very quiet, although June is a slow time of year for the area. Everything about the house was great. The best part of the house luxiorious master bathroom. The house was immaculate and the decor was beautiful. You can really tell the couple puts care into their home. We loved using the bicylces to explore the area and get groceries from the market (though very expensive). The private club area pool/brach area was great, although we had trouble finding it at first.


4 bikes - so that way 2 couples/or family can go explore, since the house is big enough for a few adults

also - we flew in after midinght so there was absolutely nothing open from the airport to the house, not even the resorts so it would be great if late arrivals had some snack and or beer or wine options to purchase (maybe leave some fresh fruit or a snack basket and guests could put some money in it).

Definitely stay here if you are travelling with 2 couples or a family of 4-6.

We would be back in a heart beat!

This place is fantastic! Luxurious and immaculate! Everything you could possible think of is here for your use. We cooked everyday, every kitchen item you could want is here! The lanais are the perfect place to enjoy a morning cup of Kona coffee or an barbecued dinner. We loved the bikes, everyday we went for a ride in the evening, perfect way to top a perfect day! The amenities area is super close, beautiful pools, hot tubs, and exercises area. Used the amenities everyday, many days we were the only ones out there! The beach was stellar, comfy cabanas and gorgeous snorkeling, just a short bike ride away. We are left dreaming about our stay here and can't wait to one day return. I would recommend this unit to anyone, it definitely exceeded my expectations!

Love this place!

3 girlfriends had the pleasure of staying here for one week Oct 20 - 27, 2013 (form wouldn't allow 2013). Thoroughly enjoyed having a quiet and convenient place to stay. Loved the pools and the gym. Essential to a lots of eating is a gym close, just steps away from this unit.

The private beach has a lovely restaurant for an easy lunch and lots of great snorkeling too. If you feel a walk is needed, you can actually walk to this private beach from the Fairmont, it takes about 45 minutes. We will return and enjoy this accommodation again.
