Overview

Sonoma Cottage Rental Photos and Description

Cottage, 1 Bedroom, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2), Vineyard and Mountain Views

Enjoy all that Wine Country has to offer while staying in your own cottage overlooking a private vineyard and the mountains beyond. Separate from the main house, this restored craftsman-style water tower has an almost storybook feel with beautiful exposed beams, light streaming in through the sliding glass doors and picture windows that open up to vast vineyards.

The cottage is located in the famed Buena Vista region on the Eastside of Sonoma and has unbeatable views! You will be within walking distance of California's finest wineries, a mere mile and a half away from Sonoma's historic plaza, and equally close to many beautiful hiking trails. All of this is made even more accessible with the complementary use of matching Schwinn cruisers and helmets!

Drive in through our vineyards and park right next to the cottage. The bedroom is located above the bath and living area giving the house a very cozy loft-style feel. The mattress is very comfortable, the sheets are soft, and we even offer fluffy robes to cuddle up in. The living area is equipped with a small refrigerator, microwave and coffee maker and the entire cottage has wifi access. It also features your own private patio complete with a bistro table and chairs to watch the sunrise with a cup of coffee, the moonrise with a glass of wine, or to just sit outside and enjoy the breathtaking views!

So go visit a winery, enjoy downtown Sonoma, or just sit back and relax on your own quiet patio. We'd love to have you!

About Lucy Petricka

Hi, I'm Lucy and my dad John and I are lucky to have one of the premier vineyard properties east of the Sonoma Plaza, in the countryside but close to town. I live part time here with my dad and part time in San Francisco. I grew up here and know how lucky I am to consider this home and John has been living here in Sonoma for over 40 years and his love for this town has only grown since.

Lucy Petricka purchased this cottage in 1996

Why Lucy Petricka chose Sonoma

My family fell in love with the property from the very beginning. John had a vision, as a creative master cabinet maker all his life, for the old craftsman style bungalow that was set to be bulldozed. His vision became a reality and a few years later we won the Award of Excellence from the Sonoma League for Historic Preservation. From there we continued to restore the old barn sight and vineyard cottage. Today we enjoy our 8.5 acres and the magic of the land continues to amaze us.

What makes this cottage unique

John's passion is old cars, and right next door to the cottage is a barn full of antique cars and when John is home he loves to take our guests on a tour. We also have matching his and her Schwinn bikes and helmets for our guests to use as it is a short ride to downtown or just enjoy riding to the different wineries close by. You can play your iPod or iPhone on a small portable Altec Lansing docking station and there's a small television. We also bottle our own wine and at certain times of the year you might be able to do some barrel tasting!

Guestbook comments from the owner

Great stay

We had a great time at the cottage! It was a perfect home-base while my wife and I explored the surrounding restaurants, vineyards, and greater Sonoma area. The bikes were definitely an appreciated perk!

Sonoma Serenity

  • 5 of 5
Beauty and serenity await you at this two-story cottage set in the middle of a lovely landscaped property with views of the private vineyard and the rolling hills beyond. This sparkling clean little house, furnished with vintage pieces, is cozy and quiet. A comfy bed, a mini-frig, a microwave and coffee maker are all the basics one needs to relax and live simply at this Sonoma getaway. We most enjoyed coffee at sunrise with Calvin the cat purring contentedly, cycling adventures to local wineries with the provided bikes, and evenings under the stars sipping a glass of wine. Deb and John are wonderful hosts and offer guests helpful tips as well as complete privacy.

Perfect Sonoma retreat to make memories!

  • 5 of 5
We arrived at this perfect wine country cottage on July 23rd for a two night stay as part of our first vacation in over 4 years! Not having visited wine country before, I had exceptionally high expectations and Debra and John's place did not disappoint! As they were out of town, we had the whole property to ourselves, with oversight from Calvin the cat - a terrific and friendly host who greeted us each morning and every time we came back from whatever local adventure we'd been on. The best part was the serenity and views of the vineyard out the cottage bedroom window - and with that view, watching the sun rise, we got engaged! Needless to say, the vineyard cottage will always hold a special place in our hearts and we very much plan to visit again!

Perfect retreat after wine tasting

  • 5 of 5
My husband and I stayed at this cute place for 3 nights during a visit to Sonoma. We used the bikes one day to have breakfast downtown and visit nearby wineries. The basket definitely came in handy to hold our wine purchases. The wireless internet didn't really work all that well so make sure you aren't relying on it to make any last minute plans. I think they just need a new modem/router as I had the same problem at home. My husband and I would stay here again in a heartbeat. Definitely only room for 2 people.

Sonoma vacation

  • 5 of 5
Cozy, clean, comfortable, private cottage, with very friendly, accommodating hosts. Loved watching the sunrise over the mountains and vineyard while sipping coffee, and the full moon rising in the evening while sipping wine at the bistro table outside the glass door entrance to our home for a week. Really loved being able to use the bikes to explore some of Sonoma restaurants and wineries. We'd be happy to have a return visit here. We tried to eat only 1 restaurant meal per day, so would have appreciated something like a toaster over or grill, but knew that was not part of this rental. We enjoyed our picnic meals "at home"! This was our first trip to wine country, but it will not be the last! Also enjoyed perfect weather, warm days, cool nights! Any recommendations that are offered by Deb & John are great suggestions. Thanks for a fun, relaxing, enjoyable, superb vacation!
