Nestled on the world famous Makaha Surfing Beach one can imagine taking a beautiful stroll on the sand, all the while exploring tide pools and taking in the year round flora and fauna of the ocean environment.
For snorkelers, the waters ahead are known to the locals as "Makaha Caverns." In them, one sees countless varieties of colorful fishes, sea turtles and if you are one of the fortunate few, playful dolphins. It is a playground like no other.
If you surf, Makaha and the entire West-side is the place to be! Depending on the time of year, Makaha is known to have a North, South, or West swell. Surfer beware because when Makaha is PUMPING--usually in the Winter months--we boast twenty plus-foot waves.
Another notible moment here is the breathtaking whale season, with whale sightings all day long! A common sight during this time are tufts of adult whale sprays with a little baby spray as these magnificent creatures frolic through Makaha.
