Photos and Description of the Bandon vacation rental
2 Bedrooms, 3 Bathrooms, Sleeps 8
This unique, quirky, happy old house has been decorated Swedish style in honor of the builder, Axel Sandstrom. Axel was a Swedish sailor who, in 1907, wrecked his ship on the Coquille River bar, swam ashore, and built this and several other homes, raising his family here. He signed up for the local coast guard, and you can find pictures of him, as well as a picture of the house, in our little museum downtown.
We have fenced in the front and back yards to contain your children and furry friends. Surrounded on three sides by alder and white cedar woods, the back yard is a great place to sit, relax, sunbathe and birdwatch. We're back from the ocean a couple of miles, so we're warmer and less foggy than the beach itself.
The beds are all very cozy, with high thread count sheets, so you have a good excuse for sleeping in! At the Swedish Bunkhouse, time has a way of becoming unimportant.
