SPACIOUS AND SOPHISTICATED FLAT WITH SPECTACULAR SF BAY AND BRIDGE VIEWS.

This was a very quiet and tranquil getaway in a beautiful flat. The owner was warm, friendly and very helpful. We were a family of six, 4 adults and 2 young teens and it was the perfect size for us. The owner set up two inflatbale beds in the TV room and study, plus the sofabed, so everyone had their own bed. The apartment was very spacious and comfortable, and stocked with great books, puzzles, games, etc. I would definately saty here again.

The views are exquisite, the apartment is comfortable, private and beautifully appointed with everything you could possibly need. The location is great with easy access to downtown San Francisco and the East Bay, not to mention all the wonderful activities and restaurants just down the hill in Berkeley. And when the day is through, there could be no better place to be, than sipping a glass of wine on the terrace and enjoying the sunset and 180 degree view of the bay. We will definitely be back.

If it's comfort and tranquility you crave then it's hard to imagine any better choice in the Bay Area than Hillside Retreat. Talk about rooms with a view! This spacious flat is chock full of amenities--you really do only need your clothes. It is beautifully decorated, the beds are very comfortable, the kitchen is outfitted for serious cooking, and the family room includes a large and wonderful collection of books. Gillian, a gracious host, has left nothing to chance. Unless you're a mountain goat you'll surely need a car but nearby is great coffee and dining in Berkeley and Rockridge, the food stalls at Market Hall (don't miss Paul Marcus Wines and the bittersweet chocolate cake at the Bakery), hiking and biking in Tilden Park and Wildcat Gorge and, if architecture is your thing, Bernard Maybeck abounds. All this is just minutes away and no freeway driving is required! We enjoyed our stay immensely, so much so that we rebooked within three days of our return home!
