Overview

Jekyll Island Studio Rental Photos and Description

Studio, Studio + Loft, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2)

We invite you to visit 'ALOFT.' We're located in a state park, and only 35% of Jekyll Island can be developed. We are surrounded by marshlands and the sea. Our property is situated on a quiet street, nestled between the marshlands and stately oak and pine forests. This beautiful 1000 square foot loft has a private entrance and on-site parking.

Just one minute away you'll discover the 18 miles of bike trails surrounding the island. You can bike to the fishing pier and beach and arrive in five minutes. Or, you may want to visit the Historic District, where over 300 millionaires once lived. They built homes and a Club House on our island, beginning in 1888. They typically spent 3-5 months down here yearly for the next 54 years. Their homes are being restored and many can be visited and appreciated.

We also have a world renowned Sea Turtle Center, where injured and sick turtles are flown in for surgeries and rehabilitation, and later released back to the sea. Bike toward the south and visit the Tidelands Nature Center, enjoy bird and wildlife viewing, or swim and sunbath on our 12 miles of white sand beaches. We have a seasonal Summer Waves Water Park, four famous golf courses, Red-bug Motorcar rentals, and carriage rides and trolley tours. Also, for the adventurous, scout out the hideaways of our local alligators! All this and so much more!

All activities are within minutes. Bed linens, towels and kitchen items are furnished. You bring food, toiletries and enjoy.

A 50% deposit is required for all stays and the balance is due 14 days prior to arrival. Deposit is non-refundable but may be used to change/reserve dates (pending availability) for up to one year after the original reservation date. Reservations less than 14 days prior to arrival require payment in full. A two night minimum stay is required.

"Aloft" is located in a quiet residential neighborhood in between the Jekyll Island airport and the campground. That puts us 5 to 10 minutes from the Jekyll Island beaches by car. Bicycle paths start one block from the house.

Also, you should know that "Aloft" is an open and airy unit with lots of natural light. It has a private entrance through our garage. You may hear the garage door open and close at 6:30 or so in the morning during the days of Monday through Friday as that is the time that we go to work. That has not bothered most of our guests, but we don't want that to be a surprise. Otherwise the unit is very quiet. Kitchen facilities are limited. Cooking facilities are a toaster oven, a two burner hot-plate and a microwave. The refrigerator is hotel sized.

Please let us know if you have any additional questions and if "Aloft" will work for you.

We await you at 'ALOFT' on Jekyll Island: 'Georgia's Jewel.'

About Michael Mueller

Pam and Michael Mueller have lived in coastal Georgia for ten years. They met here in 1988, while studying law enforcement at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center in Brunswick, GA. At that point, they made a pact that if they were to marry one day, they would return to live in the Golden Isles. Seven years later their dreams came true! Michael continues working with law enforcement, now teaching Physical Training to Homeland Security students at FLETC. Pamela has become a children's author. She has written eight award-winning books and will release her first adult book in 2010. The Muellers bought a home with an 'undeveloped' loft and decided to refurbish it and turn it into a rental unit. This has turned into a delightful abode, and they very much enjoy sharing their little piece of paradise with others.

Michael Mueller purchased this studio in 2009

Why Michael Mueller chose Jekyll Island

We remodeled the loft of our residence for our frequent guests and visiting family. When it is not occupied, we wanted to rent it out and share the magic of Jekyll Island with others who yearn to spend their free time in 'splendid paradise,' which incidentally, is the title of Pamela's new book and tells the story of Jekyll Island.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Today was one of the most beautiful days we can remember. We saw the most beautiful birds (painted buntings) that we have wanted to see for a very long time. The beauty of Jekyll Island is like none other! Your home and "Aloft" is awesome!! I assure you, we will be back! Thank you for providing such a wonderful space to decompress.

Aloft on Jekyll Island

  • 4 of 5

Aloft is a nice place to stay while visiting Jekyll Island. Aloft is located over the garage of a home in a residential area that is on the "intercoastal side" of the island. The home is only one block off of the bike path and the owners have 2 bikes for guests to use! The loft is very spacious and very clean! Aloft is a large studio apartment and has a kitchenette area, TV/DVD area, desk area, eating area, and nice queen size bed. I thought the bathroom was a little "rustic" but my husband did not mind the urinal in the bathroom. The shower had great water pressure and no problem with hot water. The Wi-Fi connection was great! The owners are super nice folks and even left a nice welcome basket for us! We enjoyed coming "home" to Aloft after days spent exploring the island!

Charming, Comfortable, Quiet!

  • 5 of 5

This was our first experience with an owner property & Aloft certainly exceeded our expectations! It's a very spacious studio with plenty of comfortable seating & bed, well-equipped kitchen and plenty of bath & bed linens. The owners made sure we were well informed about what to expect about both the property & Jekyll Island. We could have easily have stayed an entire week or longer without difficulty. It was quiet & private and much better than staying in a hotel. We absolutely plan to return. Staying at Aloft was definitely one of the reasons we fell in love with Jekyll!

Great location, wonderful hospitality!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed at Aloft for our one year wedding anniversary. Upon arrival, we met the owners and were blown away by their hospitality. They showed us around Aloft and told us some recommended restaurants, bike riding trails, etc. The weather was warmer than I had expected it to be, so I asked where a store was where I could buy some sandals. The owner immediately went down stairs and grabbed a pair of her own sandals, which happened to be my size, and let me borrow them for our weekend trip. How sweet! Aloft also includes some guest bikes, which were perfect for our bike ride around Jekyll. Overall, we were very pleased with this studio and we will be returning!

Fantastic getaway

  • 5 of 5

Staying at Aloft for the weekend was a great time. The place was warm and cozy yet felt open and inviting. There was plenty of space for us without feeling crowded like in a hotel room. We really enjoyed the welcome note and the fruit basket upon our arrival. This place also has a great outdoor porch and offers bikes as part of the package so you can explore the entire island. Pamela and Michael were excellent and accommodating hosts and we plan on staying there again soon.

Heavenly Haven

  • 5 of 5

The pictures and description just do not do this place justice! The loft is huge, and so quaint, clean, and comfortable. I was hoping for a serene, pretty setting, and got so much more than I'd hoped for! Sitting on the patio amidst the tree tops, sipping wine and reading or enjoying conversation, was one of my favorite early evening activities. The island is so beautiful, and the people I met who were visiting are the friendliest I've met anywhere. I loved every minute of my stay, and cannot say enough about how much I liked Pamela and Michael and what fantastic people they are. I give my highest recommendation for Aloft!!

Five minutes from Jekyll Island Historic District. For 54 years, from the Gilded Age to WWII, Jekyll Island was the second home to more than 300 Millionaires, who spent 3-5 months in their 'cottages' here. Their homes have been restored and offer an amazing glimpse into the past.
