Nestled close to the heart of Edgartown village, at the corner of High and School Street, this charming historical home is situated on Martha’s Vineyard Island, renowned for its wonderful beaches, fine food, and great fun.

Wonderfully restored and expanded, the spacious main house was built in the late 1600’ s; the main house is now part of a compound, with two lovely new guest cottages perfect for extended families, several couples, or groups of friends.

Kid and pet friendly, the main house has lovely hardwood floors, beautiful antiques and 4 bedrooms with air-conditioning. One of the cottages features a second master bedroom suite with Jacuzzi tub and the other has a living area with pullout sofa bed, fireplace, kitchenette and a private bathroom with a great shower. Both cottages have central air-conditioning.

The entire compound has six bedrooms and four bathrooms, as well as a private, fenced-in lawn and garden with two patio areas, catching morning and evening sun, perfect for outdoor dining on those beautiful Vineyard summer days. The jacuzzi is great for waking up, after a run, or an evening glass of wine.

It is just a short walk to the harbor, galleries, ice cream shops and fine restaurants. The home also offers high-speed Internet wireless, cable TV (4 TV’s, with 2 DVD and 1 cassette player), phone with free US long distance, and beach chairs, boogie boards & toys for nearby beaches.

A quick stroll and you are in town, yet you have a quiet private oasis away from the lively bustle when you want it. Heading for a walk or a jog in another direction, you are at the harbor, or out in the country, exploring the beach or Morning Glory Farm, or picking up scones and that morning paper, or sandwiches and drinks for the beach, or seafood for dinner.

We have been coming to Martha's Vineyard all our lives, and love the wonderful beaches, and the chance to sail, play tennis and golf, go fishing and shell fishing and crabbing, and explore the ponds and estuaries by kayak, and the nature preserves by foot. From the 'Flying Horses' carousel, 4th of July fireworks, and Illumination Night in Oak Bluffs, the 'Black Dog' schooner trips in Vineyard Haven, or the parade and yacht races in Edgartown, we cherish the life here. Local fairs and markets abound, art shows and antiquing flourish, and wonderful restaurants are delight us. The life here is rich and varied, something we like to share with extended families or groups of friends, so that they can fall in love with the Vineyard as we have.

This is our family summer home, not just a rental house, a warm and comfortable place, well-appointed but much lived in, a place for children and families, and well behaved dogs (fenced in back yard), with many memories, and new ones to be made, for kids and parents and grandparents, or in laws, especially since we have added two lovely tasteful but more modern cottages, giving privacy, and togetherness, for teens, for in-laws, for other couples, in a quiet part of Edgartown, but just minutes from all the restaurants and entertainment, that cup of coffee, those special sandwiches, those ice cream cones, a drink, dancing, and remarkable dining.

Our extended family spent a week here over July 4th. The property was accurately described in the listing. The location was fantastic! Close to the bike trails, the beaches and a short walk into town for shops and restaraunts. The main house was clean, comfortable and well stocked. Keep in mind that it is an older home so the kitchen is small and closed off to the rest of the home. The dining area was spacious enough for all of us to enjoy meals together. The cottages were modern and well appointed. The bathrooms in the cottages were spacious. The outdoor areas were very well maintained. There were some beach chairs and sand toys available for our use. The owners were wonderful to work with and very gracious. The only negative is that we had to provide our own linens. We ordered from a rental company and there were no problems with the order, but it was an additional cost that we don't usually have to incur when we rent homes. Edgartown is lovely, I highly reccomend renting bikes for your stay so you can ride around and enjoy it!

Great Getaway for Families and Friends

Our family stayed at this charming, centrally located home for three weeks and shared a wonderfully relaxing summer holiday with two other families and friends. Adults and children alike enjoyed the comfortable accommodations and lingered over al fresco meals in the lovely garden and around the diningroom table as well. Plenty of room in the kitchen for cooks to serve up home-cooked meals, and a variety of restaurants are also just a stroll away for dining out. The warmth of the host family is readily apparent in the furnishings and personal touches -- truly a family home!

Wonderful family vacation

We just returned from a week-long stay at this amazing house over the 4th of July. The location is perfect, with main street Edgartown a few blocks away in one direction, and the bike path to South Beach a few blocks away in another! The house is immaculate and comfortable, offering the charm of an antique home with the modern convenience of the brand new guest cottages. The yard is secluded and private, with enough room for games and activities after a day at the beach. You really do not feel like a renter in this house -- more like a very lucky houseguest in a treasured family home. We highly recommend this house and will rent again in the future!
