THE SMITHSONIAN VACATION HOUSE - WALK TO THE MUSEUMS - FREE PARKING - WATERFRONT

We enjoyed a wonderful family holiday-mini vacation at the Smithsonian House. Because of the great location we were able to visit the National Native American History Museum the afternoon we arrived! Although our stay was short we were able to see 4 museums because there was no travel or parking delays. We anticipate revisiting the Smithsonian House on future trips to DC. Even though it was a holiday we were able to reach the owner with any questions. Thank you!

In twenty years of traveling, I have only walked away from two places without thinking, "They could have done a little better." The Smithsonian House is one of those places. The location is perfect. My wife and I set out to explore... walked ten minutes, looked up and The Washington Monument was to our left, and the Capital Building was to our right! We read that we would be close, but we never imagined we would be THAT close. I'm very apprehensive about neighborhoods, yet realized after we got home that I walked my entire family home from the Metro at midnight on one evening and didn't think anything at all about my wife and mother-in-law walking to the stores alone.

Inside and out, the property was well suited to our needs and clean and well maintained. I traveled with my entire family and when I raise concerns about TVs in the extra bedrooms, the property manager had TVs installed before our arrival.

The property manager was phenomenal! Even in 5 star hotels, I have never worked with someone so accommodating and attentive. We will return to DC again, because you can't see every thing in a week. When we return, The Smithsonian House will be home again!

This house was a perfect place for exploring DC. It is within a few blocks of the National Mall. My 4 year old son and 78 year old father could easily walk from here to the Smithsonian museums or the Capitol. There are also a few metro stops close by, and it comes with a parking lot, so plenty of other options for transportation. Wavely was also very attentive.
