Photos and Description of the Telluride vacation house rental
1 Bedroom, 1 Queen Sofabed,1 Bathrm, sleeps 2 well, 4 if w/kids or good friends!

Welcome to our little slice of heaven. This cozy carriage house is in a great location, walking distance to both Lifts # 7 & 8 (Gondola), on a quiet back alley close to Main St, Telluride. On entering the house, you'll find a compact and tastefully decorated kitchen and living room. With hardwood floors and stainless steel appliances, the spaces blend form & function, & include a gas fireplace and flat-screen TV w/DVD. The deck has great views of the ski area, Box Canyon and surrounding ridges, and is perfect for catching both winter and summer rays & enjoying BBQs. Downstairs is the queen bedroom, with plenty of cupboard space, and the bathroom with large steam shower (no bath). A washer & dryer allows complete self-sufficiency, and underfloor heating keeps it warm in the winter. The classic queen sofa-sleeper upstairs makes this a great vacation home for singles, couples or a small family. If you are looking for a distinctive place to enjoy your time in Telluride, you've found it.

Unique: One of the few free-standing carriage houses in Telluride, this little gem is lovely and unique. Unlike condos where you have to worry about what's going on in the next unit, or from people ' walking' over your head, you are completely separate from your neighbours in this compact little house. Whilst similar in price to these condos, you have more room to move around with it's unique design. The deck is the icing on the cake, with a small gas grill, two chairs and a bench plus cushion that allow for hours just relaxing in the sunshine, while taking in the spectacular mountains around you. If you are looking for a unique 'home' for your time in Telluride, this is it.

Light and airy: Although it's small, the number of windows in the house gives a feeling of open space, with plenty of light and cross-breezes in the summer, and the warmth of the sun in the winter. The light wood panelling enhances that feeling of warmth, and gives you a sense of belonging for however long your stay may be. Downstairs in the bedroom, you have privacy with the up/down blind, which also allows light to filter through, so it's open and airy (and at street level, so not a 'basement' feel). In the winter, the underfloor heating means you'll never be cold, even in the marble floor bathroom.

Location: Right near the River Trail that winds it's way along the San Miguel River in and out of town, the house is located on a quiet back alley, halfway between Lifts 7 & 8 - and the free Gondola to Mountain Village. And only three blocks to the top end of town (the Court House), and all that has to offer in terms of restaurants, nightlife and day time shopping.

Our house is also listed by our Property Managers with HomeAway (Listing 911480) & VRBO (376353).

Named for the 90-mile-long San Miguel River, San Miguel County is home to some of southwest Colorado’s most amazing natural sites, including Bridal Veil Falls—the longest free-falling waterfall in Colorado—and the Old Spanish Trail—a 1,200-mile historic route that started in Santa Fe, touched the Telluride region and continued on to Los Angeles.

At the heart of San Miguel County are two unique communities: Telluride and Mountain Village. Each with its own charms, the two towns are connected by a free gondola, the only transportation system of its kind in North America. Rooted in history, Telluride is both a bustling ski town and historic jewel. Clapboard storefronts house independent art galleries, old-time bars and delectable eateries. Neighboring Mountain Village offers a modern take on nature and features expansive views and world-class accommodations. During winter, Mountain Village features convenient access to the slopes of Telluride Ski Resort.

Notes: This small carriage house is best suited to a couple, however, it can definitely cater to a couple with children, or two couples who don't mind the slight lack of privacy, as there is a good queen size sofa bed in the living room that is easily set up at night. The large dining table caters for 6-8, and there is crockery, cutlery and cookware for a small dinner party! The kitchen cupboards are mostly taken up with these (usually two to three cupboards are left empty for non-perishables), but there is space for storage on the counter, and of course in the large fridge. A lovely and full-size oven/range with four hobs means cooking is a pleasure, and the full-size dishwasher complements that! Parking is NOT provided, however, a Pacific Ave street parking permit is available from the property managers on checkin. The parking pad next to the house is not for our home. This house will not disappoint if you are looking for a home away from home.

The Wood Residence is a great little place. A true carriage house, but all you need when you visit Telluride. The location is within easy walking distance to the gondola and town, and it is quiet. We enjoyed our stay and particularly enjoyed sitting on the deck in the afternoon sun reading our books post a hard run.

We would recommend this place to anyone looking for a quality, cute place to stay for 2 people in Telluride.

We loved the apartment. Perfect location right in town. The balcony was lovely. Kitchen was supplied with top quality utensils and cookware - great for us because we love to cook. A little pricey, but worth it.

The Wood Residence is a little out of the way on the alley behind W. Pacific but worth the trouble to locate on a dark night. The accommodations are fairly typical for Telluride with an above average bath and kitchen area. The steam shower is excellent, and the deck off the upper level is a wonderful amenity. The kitchen is well equipped, and the laundry in the bathroom is perfectly located. In winter it might be a bit of a walk to the gondola or Lift 7, but pretty ideal for summer. The one upgrade that would be useful is perhaps better pillows and linens in the bedroom.

Note from Owner: We have just (Nov 2012) upgraded the linens & pillows as requested - new duvets, duvet covers, pillows, shams and decorative cushions. As for the walk to the Gondola & Lift 7, they are both a few short blocks away in either direction ... always awkward in ski boots, not so bad in snowboarding boots!

While small, the Wood Residence was perfect for our needs. There were three of us .. my husband, me and our yellow lab, and the space was just big enough for us. We loved the porch, the view of the mountains, the kitchen and layout of the inside, and we enjoyed the DVD player. The bedroom was very comfortable, and we especially loved the steam shower. We would definitely stay at the Wood Residence again.

Note from Owner: Unfortunately, we are no longer pet-friendly (our furniture, floors & antique rugs were not appreciative of the wear and tear!).

Telluride is absolutely one of my favorite places in the world. This trip out I decided it was time for my wife to experience it with me. So, for our wedding anniversary we packed up the car and made the trip out. The home was exactly what we were looking for. From kitchen to deck. Nothing could have made the stay better. Telluride Alpine made check in as quick and painless as a person could imagine. Their amazingly friendly staff was knowledgeable and exceedlingly professional throughout the process. Not only would I suggest them for anyone looking to spend some quality time in one of the best ski towns in America, Wood Residence should also be considered by all.
