We stayed in this rental the end of September, 2013. With family scattered to the corners of NC and VA it was a great central location. The fire pit was a hit and was enjoyed both nights we were there with plenty of wood provided. The theater room was awesome, a really cool experience! The pond is nice and most people in our group caught at least one fish. Of all the bait we tried, worms seemed to work best; we just dug them up from the yard. There is plenty of room for everyone to move around and the furniture is comfortable. The kitchen was well stocked and the house was clean upon arrival. We asked everyone when the weekend was over if they wanted to do it again and we received a resounding YES! We will be back!!
My family is spread throughout NY, CT, & FL. We all met in the middle here for a family vacation. We had 11 people with ages ranging from 70 to under 2. We had plenty of room in the house. Everything was just as it states in the description and then some. The kitchen was perfect for cooking for our large family. The deck made a perfect place to eat and enjoy the beautiful scenery. There is a grocery store within a short drive along with several farmer's markets along the side of the road. The state park down the road is perfect if you have little ones. The boats at the house were a big hit with the fisherman in the group and the fire pit was great for smores. I would recommend this to anyone looking for peace, quiet and solitude; regardless of age. It has all the luxuries of home without all the chaos that being home always brings.
Anne and Ron's home hit the spot for our family get together consisting of our three grown children, their spouses, and six grandchildren aged seven and under. Day one we headed up the backyard trail with containers in hand in search of bait for our fishing adventure. We were rewarded with plenty of crickets as well as a frog, a mouse, and a lizard! Adults and kids were equally successful in catching their share of blue gill and bass. The paddle boat was a treat, as was being able to paddle the kiddos in our kayak in the private lake setting. Twin Lakes State Park was a winner for kid friendly swimming, a wonderful facility four miles down the road. All meals were shared on the screened in porch - a very user friendly kitchen for meal prep. Grills and the covered patio made for convenient cooking outside. A spacious laundry room next to the kitchen was a huge plus too. Plenty of space for everyone inside, jigsaw puzzle on the dining table, "elbow room" upstairs and down, and the additional use of the media room kept us all occupied. It was hot outside, but AC was cool inside. All in all, a memorable time - thanks!
We recently rented this house for a weekend while we were attending a wedding in Farmville. We had 8 people included 2 children and an elderly guest. This house was perfect for us! The kids enjoyed hiking and fishing during the day, and it was easy to get my mother-in-law in and out of the house with only a few stairs. The kitchen was well-stocked, and we were able to cook several meals there. Farmville is only a few minutes away, but the house was so private that it was easy to pretend that you were a hundred miles from civilization. We were able to get ready for the wedding at the same time without getting in each other's way. The only downside is that it doesn't have internet service...which some may feel is an upside!
This is a lovely house in the woods. A very comfortable home in a park setting. The small lake is good for swimming and fishing. My family and my sister's family had a great long weekend here. We planned to enjoy the nearby state park, but the property was so nice we never left it! We were a group of 10 and had ample room in the house. The house is only 20 minutes from Farmville, which was very convenient for shopping. We enjoyed all the pleasures of "camping"--hiking, fishing, swimming, smores over a campfire--but with a super comfy house to eat and sleep in. This is the best way to enjoy the great outdoors.
