The Cabuya Lizard Lodge is located in Cabuya approx 7 km from Montezuma. 3 bedroom, 2 1/2 bath vacation home fully furnished with all you will need to call this holiday home with W&D & small swimming pool. Note: A SUV (rental) recommended as the vacation home is located hillside off unpaved road close to the National Reserve. Cabuya is a quaint little village.Cabo Blanco National Park is another 2 km past Cabuya. Cabuya lies near the very tip of the Nicoya Peninsula, yet faces east towards the rising sun. Many vacationers have chosen Cabuya/Montezuma area for its quiet surroundings and natural beauty. Expect to see howler monkeys taking a siesta in the trees and find migrating herons fishing to the rivers. The beach of Cabuya has both sandy and rocky areas, and at low tide one can walk out to Cabuya Island by means of a natural land bridge, where there's some of the best snorkeling on the Pacific Coast of Costa Rica. Montezuma is about a 10-15 minute drive north (7 km) to Mapais.

The balconies have railings only and a small child could fall with serious injury. The swimming pool is without safety gates. Lastly, the indoor stairs have hand rails but there is no prevention from falling-- if a small child were climbing up/down to the bedrooms. We highly advise families with small children to consider all these very important factors due to the significant risks present with this vacation/holiday house prior to reserving.

About Cabuya: A rare attraction of Cabuya is the small cemetery island (Isla de Cabuya), a few hundred meters off the coast. In pre-Columbian times the Indians used the island as a burial ground, and to this day, funerals are held here. At low tide it is possible to walk to the island over the rocks to enjoy the peaceful atmosphere with views of the Cabo Blanco Nature Reserve.The reef on the extreme tip of the Cabuya island is one of the best spots for snorkeling in the area. Even without snorkeling gear you can often see colorful fishes trapped in the rocky tide pools. Cabuya has several spots to buy fresh fish from local fisherman, and local vegetables and fruits are available.
