Honeymooners had a fantastic time, did lots of exploring

Better late than never on the review, I guess. :)
My wife and I decided on Iceland as a part of our honeymoon based on our love of the scenery and the local music that we love (I'm a musician). (The Sigur Rós film Heima was a huge part of it--see it.) After a week there, I'm now obsessed and rarely go a day without thinking about Iceland and our time there. We happened to plan it during a week of perfect weather, right as it was starting to stay light at all hours. It was magic. The people were incredible. We'll be returning, and dragging friends with us.
We loved the look of the apartment from the pictures here, the location seemed great, and Siggi was great to chat with through email--so we booked it. We had a rental car and just used street parking around the building; it was cheap and I've never seen a pay parking system that was so NOT out to get people. You can't pay for time when the parking is free. It just rolls to the next day! We even got a parking ticket once and it was a pleasant experience to pay. Just go to a bank teller; the faster you get there, the cheaper it is. It almost doesn't even make sense to someone who has dealt with Chicago parking authority.
The pictures do the apartment justice. The balcony is nice. It's spacious and well-equipped. It is also SUPREMELY located. We walked basically everywhere and it was in such a great location. Yes, you may hear the late-night drinking crowd from nearby bars, if you're worried about that. It didn't bother us in the slightest, and I think we were there at peak time for it. Plus, late-night on weekends means food trucks basically right outside the downstairs door.
Siggi was out of the country when we were there, but he had a very helpful friend meet us for the initial check in (who was also available if we had questions). He's the one who made us realize how dumb we had been with the clothes dryer. Note that when the little water tray light is lit up and the dryer won't turn on, you need to empty the container on the TOP LEFT of the dryer, with the somewhat impossible-to-notice handle. The entire chassis of the dryer got a solid cleaning out of us before we finally asked. We left some helpful Post-Its on the dryer, but they probably didn't last.
Anyway, what a wonderful place. We'll be emailing Siggi when we're planning on returning. Check out Café Babalú (became our home base when out and about) and 12 Tónar for amazing music discoveries (great record store with occasional performances).
