Beautiful cabin. Well furnished. Very comfortable furniture in the living room. Sectional sofa has recliners which you do not see a lot in rentals. Screened in porch was a nice feature. However upon arrival we found out by reading the note book that we might not be able to use the water for drinking. That was an understatement. It had sulfur in the water and had a horrible smell. We could not even use it to brush our teeth. After traveling 7 hours we had to go back to Luray and get water which is about 30 miles round trip.We felt deceived to arrive and find this out after paying a premium price for this cabin. There was heavy rain the week before we arrived which may have caused this but the back yard to the river was a swamp all week that we were there. We had to wade water every time we walked back to the river.
Owner's Response: Our cabin received approximately five inches of rain the week prior to Roger and Sandra's arrival. The Shenandoah River was near flood stage in some areas. This indirectly contributed to the well water problem and caused the collecting of water in the back yard of the cabin.

Shenandoah - beautiful and peaceful

We have loved staying at shenandoah dreaming. The cabin is perfect in terms of location and amenities. The river looks so lovely (would love to come in the summer so we could make full use of the canoes and water activities). We took a couple of drives and walks along the skyline drive, again the views were fantastic! Thanks for sharing this wonderful place with us.

First cabin experience

This was my first time to stay in a cabin. I have been camping in a tent but am getting over all the stuff you have to lug around and put up and would much rather have a roof over my head. This cabin is absolutely worth the $. It is clean and roomy and the views are beautiful. While we were there we saw a turkey running through the yard in the morning and my friend saw a red tipped hawk swoop down from the house and into the trees. We went canoeing and for a long 2 mile walk. Wish we could of stayed more than 2 nights. I hope to bring my husband there next year! I give this place 4 stars! ****

The Shenandoah seems like a distant dream, if we ever come back to that area, which i hope we do it will be your cabin we come to, so i can watch the Osprey's fish and then eat there lunch on a branch just in front of me, not to mention the bears we saw just pure magic.

Outstanding location, very quiet and relaxing

We had a wonderful one week stay at Shenandoah Stars--we loved the location on the river, the view is beautiful. We sat by the fire every night and watched Bald Eagles and a host of other birds (we even saw a river otter one evening) and lingered until the bats started flying. We enjoyed fishing in the river and paddled in the canoe. The location off the road was perfect for our dogs, and we were able to gate off the main living area from the kitchen and keep the dogs on the tile and in the screened porch.

The single bathroom might be a problem for a larger group, but for the two of us the cabin was great.
