The owners Robert and Mike (Shiny Bucket) met in college and became good friends. Robert moved back to Miami and Mike to Atlanta where they were born. Fast forward several years and each getting married and having children, Robert moved to Atlanta for his job. Looking for a place they can enjoy with their famlies together as well as an investment they purchased this beautiful home on Lake Lanier. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do with our families!
Karin Cizek purchased this house in 2004
Very close to our Alpharetta home for easy access as well as in a very quiet cove and only a few miles from all the amenities one could every want.
Stress relief, peaceful unwind with great water activities for the whole family.
Our family just needed a weekend by the water to get away from the regular routine and we were extremely suprised how much this lake house had to offer. Plenty of entertainment space, back yard that rolls right to the water. I would definitely rent again. Maybe for a week in summer. Overall extremely pleased and satisfied with the property.
Our Family recently stayed in the most perfect lake house for a reunion. There were 5 of us and the lake house could not have been more perfect for all ages for each of us to relax and spend our time. The gourmet kitchen was complete with Granite countertops and stainless steel appliances and completely stocked with everything we could possibly need, just as the owners had stated. We really enjoyed the 2 spacious master suites complete with full bathrooms and private patios. This home was very clean and fresh with updated, comfortable furnishings and a charming décor throughout. A beautiful large deck outside was perfect for our BBQs and the views of the lake were spectacular. We also enjoyed the large yard, as we were able to keep an eye on our children as they played outside. The location of this property was so perfect for us, as there are quaint towns near by for shopping and exploring the area, yet we felt very secluded and relaxed in the private setting on the lake. I highly recommend this property for all types of vacationers as it truly offers something for all ages, and the owners could not have been more accommodating. We look forward to going back next year!!
Below is a copy of an e-mail I sent the owners after our stay. Owners did reply with that they would look into it and would replace their current cleaning company.
Honestly I do not think they have one. The issues mentioned below are not a lack of detail but rather many months of neglect.
The owners were nice, refunded our deposit, but did not make or offer any concessions/compensation .
I did get the garage door opened. Thanks
We had a nice time hanging out and catching up with friends at your vacation home in Gainesville, GA. Vrbo.com/25811
There were a few things I would like to bring to your attention.
I am not sure who does your cleaning, but wanted to bring this to your attention in hope that changes can be made for future guests.
It felt like we were staying in an old dirty, musty house especially downstairs. Had this been a hotel we would have checked out. Seeing this was not an option and that we had traveled 5-6 hours to fellowship and catch up with friends who also traveled a long distance we had a nice time.
All three beds appeared to be made, but had dirty sheets. It appeared the blankets were just pulled over the sheets
In both bathrooms there was a damp, dirty towel hanging on the back of the door.
In the upstairs bathroom with the queen bed, the “cleaned” and folded towels were stained and appeared dirty with makeup on the towel.
Broken glass in garbage disposal, and on counter behind decorative jars
Broken glass on floor in basement master behind and under chair next to fireplace
Glasses in cupboard were sticky and grimy
Floors were sandy and gritty
Cobwebs and live spiders were prevalent throughout the entire house, in corners, furniture, fireplaces everywhere possible.
Downstairs electric heat baseboards were very filthy/dusty along with the note on the thermostat we were afraid to turn on for possible fire
Downstairs master shower had mildew/mold on the ceiling
Downstairs toilet seat is coming loose
Verizon tech support called Friday morning and was not able to get the internet to work.
We were able to find clean sheets/pillow cases in laundry room cupboard. For reference the sheets/pillow cases in laundry cupboards are not folded but rolled up and stuffed in. It looked very sloppy and disorganized.
I will leave the matter of compensation to your discretion.
Trash was taken to top of driveway
This location was perfect for our needs while attending a family reunion in Gainesville. The home was stocked with everything we needed and the spacious many rooms also provided privacy. Two master suites~~Neat and clean throughout. The owner were very accommodating and very accessible if there was a question. We would definitely stay at the Shiny Bucket again.
Can't tell you how perfect the house was. Spent a week here. What a lovely home and setting. There was something interesting to see in every room. The home was clean, spacious and oh, sooo comfortable! The listing was accurate. Anything you could possilby need was supplied. It was so peaceful and secluded, yet the location is perfect - close to anything you might want to do or visit. We did of course see many deer (and a red fox!) in the yard. We swam, drifted around on floats and fished off the dock! Spent tons of time on the wonderful deck, relaxing and grilling. Rented a Pontoon Boat, just 1 mile away at Gainesville Marina, and explored Lake Lanier and its many secluded islands. Took short side trips to wonderful quaint little towns, waterfalls, the mountains and panned for gold and gems (got some great gems). We definately needed to say longer. So much to do and see! We were only 5 family members, my husband and myself (60) my parents (80) and my daughter (40) and of course our little dog. The home was so big and perfect for all ages, that we are already planning to go back next summer with additional family members and stay a little longer! I highly recommed this property to anyone looking for a lake vacation.
We stayed at the home during a race weekend at Road Atlanta in December. We didn't use the lake but the 5 person race team just enjoyed staying in this nice house for about the same cost as two hotel rooms. The house is about 20-25 minutes from the track, which is slightly more than the closest hotels but again it was worth it.
If you're planning on staying here and plan on bringing a your own boat, I'd would plan on dropping the boat at the marina before coming to the house if you boat is longer than about 18 feet or much bigger than a double PWC trailer. The road to the house is nicely paved but somewhat narrow and somewhat hilly and it would be difficult to manuever a boat trailer into and out of the driveway.
If you're following a GPS to the house, my GPS said I had arrived a good 1/4 mile before I reached the actual driveway. We arrived after dark and it was somewhat difficult to see street numbers on mailboxes. Just be prepared to go further down the road than your GPS will probably indicate.
Everything about our stay was top notch and it's a perfect place to stay regardless of why you're visiting the area. We would definitely stay there again.
