We (couple, 30-something) rented the smallest apartment in Landhuis 3 Birken for a week. The apartment is by no means luxurious, but contains all things necessary for a quiet week in southern Germany. Kitchenette is more than adequate, both rooms are spacious enough for two people, bed is good, bathroom is o.k.
Kornau is very quiet, while major tourist attractions (Oberstdorf, Breitachklamm, Nebelhorn, Sölereckbahn, etc.) are either within hiking distance or a short drive away. The proprietors are very kind, while never interfering with privacy.
In short: a good place to stay!
