Saint Germain Des Prés - Charming Apartment

We have been fortunate to visit France for each of the past 15 years. Paris is always "home base" with day trips (via train) from there. Several years ago we found this wonderful apartment and always returned. First of all, we appreciate the security. To enter the building you need a security code. After a long entry way, you come into an inner court yard. To enter the rear of the building you have addition security ... then finally a key to your apartment (on the ground floor). We appreciate having the wall safe for passports and cash. The bedroom, kitchen, living room and bath room are exactly as pictured. The washer and dryer are beneficial for longer stays. (We have stayed up to 4 weeks at a time). With respect to transportation, there are several bus stops immediately out the front of the building and two more bus stops a half block away. One metro is also a half block away with a second metro within two blocks. On a typical morning, I walk to Poilone for fresh bread and on to a boulangerie for our morning croissant. (This takes no more than ten minutes). The following are easily within walking distance: St Germain des Pres, Cafe Flore, Les Deux Mogots, St Sulpice, the Orsay, the Louvre, Notre Dame and (our favorite at the end of each day) ... Luxembourg Garden. Francoise and David have always made us feel welcome and addressed our every need.

My husband and I stayed in this lovely place for two weeks and loved every minute. It is in an ideal location, and the apartment is exactly as pictured. It is on the first floor overlooking a small patio and is very quiet and peaceful. We were able to walk to all the major sights although the metro is nearby. Francoise and her husband live nearby and were most helpful. The apartment is attractive, well maintained and the small kitchenette is outfitted for cooking; however, there are many bakeries, cheese and wine shops, and grocery stores nearby for delicious take out foods. We would highly recommend this for a couple or a small family.

My husband and I and our two elementary-school-aged children spent a week in this lovely apartment in the heart of everything in Paris. Honestly, it was simply perfect. The apartment is in a lovely old building with big wooden doors that open into a passageway and then two courtyards: it was so quiet when we were in the apartment we couldn't believe that we were in the middle of a city. The apartment looks just as the photos show and it has everything you need--including a great library of Paris guidebooks,super-comfortable beds, great heat and an excellent shower. We were so happy there.

Although the St Sulpice metro station is a block away, we walked mostly everywhere, which was a lovely way to spend our vacation with the kids: walking and eating. And we were within walking distance not only from some of the most famous monuments, museums and gardens in the world but also some of the most popular patisseries and chocolate-makers as well. I don't think our kids will ever forget the cakes from La Duree or the chocolate from Maison du Chocolat.

Francoise was very responsive during the booking process, warm and welcoming on our arrival and had a typed list of suggestions regarding restaurants and supermarkets, and even helped us reserve a cab for 2:30 am when we had to leave.
