About Maryalice Widness

My husband and I live in Avon, Connecticut. I sell real estate and my husband is the retired Town Manager for the Town of Avon, Connecticut. He now teaches undergraduate and graduate courses at the University of New Haven.

Maryalice Widness purchased this house in 2008
Why Maryalice Widness chose Arlington

I grew up in Vermont and my husband worked there after graduating from college so we decided to look there when we wanted to purchase a second home. We decided we wanted to live in a place where we could walk to things and be close to the kinds of activites we enjoy here in Connecticut like music and art, shopping and fine dining. The Manchester area was the logical choice for us because it was not too far from Connecticut and had many fo the same benefits.

What makes this house unique

We knew we wanted to be close to Manchester but we did not want to live there. It was too expensive and not 'Vermont' enough for us. Thus we choose Arlington. We also wanted a property that had good rental potential and this property accomplished that. We love how old this house was and yet it had an updated kitchen. We also love the charm and the size of the rooms. We can have a large crowd in this house and no one feels cramped. We walk to the library, to the rec center, the 7/11 and Church all the time and sometimes to dinner at the Arlington Inn.. There is a nice sense of community in the Village which we really enjoy. The house is just perfect for us!

Staying at this property is like visiting a good friend's home. The home feels as though the owner just stepped away. The home and property are immaculate. There is an on-site caretaker in case of any problem. The Kitchen is fully equiped and modern. The "family room" has a functional fireplace and comfortable furnishings. There is Direct TV & every possible movie. The bedrooms are comfortable with great beds. We enjoyed our stay and have recommended it to friends.

Simply wonderful

A beautiful house. Stocked with all we needed and gorgeously appointed, doing the historic house the justice it deserves. Plenty of space for everyone (and books, videos and wifi), so a perfect house if you want to stay in and relax.

But also well located to explore the local area; with nature walks, local history and produce, and plenty of shopping nearby. There is also an excellent container of guides and maps in the house of what's in the area.

I was able to organize everything from overseas without hassles, Maryalice was very helpful and able to provide all the details I needed to feel assured everything would go smoothly.

Highly recommended.

Paddle weekend

We rented this house for a weekend of paddling on the Battenkill River. We enjoyed our stay, despite the weather. There are lots of things to do, even in the rain. The house is warm and cozy on cold damp days, and the fireplace was an added bonus. The kitchen is quite well furnished, and the house is clean and comfortable. The gardens around the house are beautiful, and obviously well cared for. This was our 2nd trip to this home, and I am looking forward to many more.

Lovely weekend away with the family

My family and I had a wonderful weekend at this beautiful home in Arlington. The house was wonderfully furnished and very charming. Also, we had planned to do a lot of cooking during the weekend and I was a little worried that we would not have all the utensils that we needed, but the kitchen was fully stocked and we had everything we could want. We wanted to go snowshoeing for a day and there was ample information about trails in the area in the house, which was verly helpful.
Also, I wanted to note that it was snowing very heavily for a few hours before we arrived and we were worried we would need to shovel but despite the fact that we got there pretty late the driveway was all shoveled, which was very nice. Thank you so much for letting us stay in your beautiful home, we are already planning on coming back next year!
