My family (father, sister, and brother-in-law) stayed in this house for Christmas in 2014 and had a fantastic time. Not only is the owner wonderful, kind, and helpful - the place was gorgeous and had an amazing living room layout that made hanging out, eating, and cooking a joy. The area around the house is also lovely: there are nice towns to hang out in, good places to eat, and a trail behind the house if you like to walk or run. I really can't say anything bad about this place - and the fact that the owner was so kind in making sure we were comfortable and knew where everything was in the house and around the house made things even better!
My husband and I stayed here for a week in Oct. 2014. The Fall leaves were beautiful and the home was so much more than we imagined. The owner has decorated this home so beautifully. It is comfortable and so organized down to labeling each and every light switch! The kitchen is stocked with everything needed and more. The beds are comfortable. We had a fire in the fireplace almost every night. We rode bikes along the tow path and explored the lovely little towns nearby. Our friends visited us from NJ and they want to come back when we visit again next year - and stay longer! So happy to have found this gem in beautiful Bucks County!
This house was perfect for the three generations of our family. We had grand plans to visit nearby towns, drive in to Philadelphia, and see the sights. But we had so much fun on the river that we really didn't want to leave!
Joan's gorgeous home was comfortable and offered every amenity imaginable. We took full advantage of most of the perks, including eating on the spacious deck for most meals, hanging out on the deck down by the river, kayaking and canoeing, sitting under the stars by the fire pit, taking long walks and runs on the canal tow path, and more.
The house is beautifully appointed (the pictures don't do it justice) and very comfortable. The kitchen is a foodie's dream! And the views are simply stunning.
Joan was so nice to work with and took care of our every need.
We definitely hope to be back!
Just as described, it's always fun at the river! We had the good fortune of spending 3 delightful weeks at Joan's house on the Delaware. From day one, it felt just like home but even better. Everything we needed was just where we thought it might be, from lifejackets for the canoes and kayaks to dry matches for s'mores at the firepit. Especially great for families, the house has all the accoutrement for babies and toddlers (Pack 'n Play, booster seat, high chair), which made prep for our stay easy for all. The house also proved to be perfect for a family member with physical disabilities -- the elevator worked every time, the doorways are wide, etc. Unfortunately the pathway/stairs to the river was not accessible (though we knew that before we arrived). Anyway, with a comfortable open living space on the main floor, three decks to choose from, and a great area to BBQ and entertain friends, we couldn't have asked for more. Hope to be back next summer or even before. Thank you, Joan, for all the thought and attention you put into this home. It seems like a labor of love.
This was my family's first time at this property, but third time staying at one of Joan's beautiful river front properties. We had a very relaxing time in this spacious but cozy, home on the river. It felt like home to us, and lived up to the wonderful description in the listing. Our kids enjoyed swimming and biking and walking the towpath behind the house. The adults had a great time either hanging out on the upstairs deck or the large deck at the water's edge. We only stayed for a week-end, but would love to book for a full week next year, since there are so many great things to do in this area. The problem is you'd hate to spend any time away from the River House!! Thank you Joan for sharing this perfect spot with us.
The owner was helpful with suggestions for dining, activities, shopping, etc. The home was better than described and more equipped with what you need than any place I have rented. There were bicycles, canoes, foos ball and even a piano. It was well decorated and every attention to detail you can imagine was in the house. It is obvious that the owner really wants you to enjoy your time in her magnificent home. I highly recommend this VRBO.
