In Winter, it is completely ski-in/ski-out. The West Wall high speed quad is your easy full mountain access lift. The Ski School training lift (Peachtree Lift) is also easily accessed from this unit. In the morning, you ski to the West Wall quad (which is free ... great for a couple of practice runs on your first day), then you ski down to the base area to buy your lift tickets. Should you need a ride to the ski base area or the town of Crested Butte, the condominium association has three suburban's with drivers that can provide you with transportation services. Kind of like having you own free taxi service. You do not need a car! Fly into Gunnison (GUC), take the Alpine Express Shuttle from/to the airport the unit. No transportation headaches! The unit is also serviced by the town of Crested Butte bus service.
The ski-in return access to the unit can be done from several different runs. Some of these runs provide some of the best panoramic views of the town of Crested Butte, the valley and the various mountain ranges. Return access is easy. If one is tired, the Suburban shuttle service from the base area can be called.
In the Summer, mountain biking and hiking is at your door step. There are outfitters in Crested Butte that can arrange fly fishing, horseback riding, white water rafting, jeep rentals, golf and more. I suggest you try a round of Frisbee golf. Lifts are available through part of the summer for easy access to the top of mountain. Crested Butte is the Wild Flower Capital of Colorado. The free Suburban shuttle service is not available in the spring, summer and fall months. Getting a car/SUV is recommended. Bus service is available all year round. Ride your bikes into town, food/drink variety is awesome, and throw bikes on the bus for the ride back. You can also ride back-up on a very well laid out bike trail. Mountain biking started in Crested Butte. One trip there in the summer, and you will know why. There are mountain bike trails for all level of riders.
