Located in Maple Falls, the home sits on Silver Lake, a 180 acre lake surrounded by a county park. The sprawling park has a playground, sandy beach, fishing areas with a bridge, picnic area, boat launch, Lodge for boat rentals, camping and more. A portion of the lake is owned by county park, leaving only a few homes on the lake. From the position of our Vacation home, you do not see any other houses. Maple Falls is located just 8 miles from Glacier, the last town before entering the Mt. Baker Snoqualmie National Forest and Mt. Baker Ski Area which is most known for its winter sports. Visit the Ranger Station in Glacier and see all of the numerous activities available in the national forest. Mt. Baker is known for its record snowfall and has an amazing area for skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing, cross country skiing, sledding, and snowcaving.

  • The home has 3 private bedrooms and 4 twin beds in the open loft. The two downstairs bedrooms (One King, One Queen) are handicapped accessible. Upstairs has the master bedroom with a King Size Log Bed, Gas Fireplace at the foot of the bed, Window opening above Great room to enjoy the lake view with shutters for privacy and direct access to a shared bathroom. The open loft has two Pottery Barn Speed Boat Beds with pull out trundles for a total of 4 twin beds. A pack and play (portable crib) is available in the home for no extra charge and is available upon request.

Notes: To ensure that the home could be enjoyed by everyone, we designed it with a level entry and all needs can be met on the main floor of the house from the living room to the laundry room. All doorways on the main floor have a minimum 36' door opening and the bathroom has a 5 foot walk in tiled shower with grab bars. A majority of the floors are hardwood with the bedrooms being carpet. Wildlife Abound!: In the Pacific Northwest, we are well known for the rainfall, but the wildlife is even more notable. Nesting nearby are a pair of Osprey (rare falcons) that dive underwater for trout. We had the privilege of witnessing these osprey swooping down for fresh trout last April and it was a sight to be seen! There are many birds that flock to this special lake that gets stocked with 25,000 trout each spring. Several Pairs of bald eagles nest overhead and are seen soaring in the wind. On the lake, the Great Blue Heron spend their days eating up as many frogs as they can catch. Great Blue Herons are beautiful blue/grey birds standing 3 feet tall. Silver Lake is also home to countless species of ducks, but my most favorite have to be the wood duck. They are shy, but ever so often, they come to our quiet end of the lake for a swim. Silver Lake is also home several beavers, deer, Owls and black bear.

Life at a Lake Lodge

We had a multi-generational family vacation at the Silver Lake property in August of 2009 which we called a cabin until we arrived. Then we renamed it a lodge because it was so spacious and comfortable. The property was sparkling clean and very well appointed.
Our grandsons, 7 and 10, enjoyed the loft boat beds and foosball table. We used the hot tub, had great campfires and canoed on Silver Lake. My husband so enjoyed the luxury range that we ended up buying a new range for our home kitchen. One night we were treated to a coyote concert.
