House Description: Here is a brief description. There are two large bedrooms with king size beds in each bedrooms. The lanai has another futon couch and a sofa that fold out. The living room has a sofa and two large comfortable chairs.

Each bedroom has its own full bathroom. The master bedroom has a private bathroom for two people and a separate shower stall. The second bedroom use a bath/shower stall that can also used by others in the house without interfering with their privacy as it is connected by a hallway outside of their room. There is also an outside shower.

All the bathrooms are beautifully arranged with quality fixtures. Including heated towel racks, rheostat lighting, tiled floors and custom paints. Pictures of the bathrooms are shown on the video tour.

About Lee Lopez

I was born and raised in Hawaii. Grand Father arrived in Hawaii 1849 and he married my Hawaiian grandmother Sarah Kaahanui. I Graduated from University of Hawaii in Travel Industry Management. I inherited the property in Hana and built a quality vacation home that I share with my guest.

Why Lee Lopez chose Hana

It lays facing due east of Maui with a clear view of the Pacific Ocean in the direction of Maka'alae Point. Maka'alae Point which means (The beginning of the path to the eye) was known to be the playgrounds of the Alii's (Chiefs) because it is known for its pleasant fair weather conditions. You can see the sunrise out of the Pacific Ocean (and the sometimes the Moon) creeping along the horizon of the water. It is conveniently located in the best spot in Hana making it accessible to all the tourist activities and services. Walking distance to Venus Pools, Hana's beautiful coastline and Hamoa beach. My home is accessible to all the public and private conveniences in the Hana area.

We shopped at Mana market before we left, bought Maui beef at Hasegawa (cooked on your nice grill), picked some papayas for breakfast, walked from the venus pools to the pines, and swam at red sand beach. Can't think of anything we missed from your tick list; you're an excellent host. We'll recommend your place to any of our friends headed that way.

WONDERFUL!!!

We enjoyed ever moment of our Hana vacation thanks to the beautiful well cared for home we were so lucky to rent. The home is located on a very large manicured lot and set back for lots of privacy and beautiful ocean views. Our only complaint was that we couldn't stay longer!!

Too many ants!

This is no longer a luxury accommodation, but has become a dirty, ant infested house. The owner has put out several small ant baits, but the problem is much bigger than that. We first noticed the ants when we drove up and parked by the front door and got out. If we stayed still longer than a few seconds, we had ants crawling on us. We could see the ants crawling up and down the support posts to the second floor. There are ants in every room of the house, especially the kitchen and bathrooms. They were crawling in the dishwasher and in the showers. When we contacted the owner, he didn’t really listen to what we were saying and all he said was that he would have the housekeeper put out more bait traps.
The pictures on his website and on this site are outdated. The vegetation has grown up so much in front of the house that the view of the ocean is mostly blocked. Also, as you can see from the pictures, there are no shades on any windows. So you cannot block out the sun to try to keep a room cooler during the day. There are also no ceiling fans to help the air circulate. So in the summer, it was very hot. The lack of shades also makes the inside of the house a magnet for bugs when it gets dark outside since they come to the light.
The beds in the lanai are futons and are very very hard. Even our young kids complained about how stiff they were.
The dishwasher and the oven only worked sporadically when we were there. The owner kept telling us that we weren’t latching the dishwasher completely shut, but we are certain that we were since we heard the click that he told us to listen for. The oven stove top worked the whole time, but the actual oven would just stop working for periods of time (the light that displayed the time on the oven would turn off and none of the oven buttons would work). We would look again later and it would be back on.
The house cleaning must be minimal, as evident by the gecko skeleton on one of the window sills.
We were booked to stay for four nights, but we only made it to three. We left a night early because of all these issues. The owner did not respond well to our concerns.

Owner's Response: I don't like ants or bugs in my home either and I take insect problems seriously and I make the best and healthiest choice possible for me and my guest. I am a third generation serious Hawaiian organic, sustainable natural farmer. The best and holistic way to get rid of an ant nest is to bait the nest and kill the Queen. We have done this and the ant problem has stopped for now. Spraying harsh chemicals are smelly and poisonous is more toxic to our delicate environment and is dangerous to our health and well being and is not the best way to solve the ant problem. I have caulked all the openings to my home and the house is completely screened in. Hana lies in a tropical rainforest and insects are a continual challenge for all of us that live in Hana. I tell my guests not to leave food items on the counter at night, wash out food containers before throwing it into the trash bin and to keep leftovers in my extra large refrigerator and to use my garbage disposal get rid of their food left over’s. I provide my home with modern contemporary kitchen appliance and digital electronic devices that most hotels and condominiums don't supply. It is necessary that I meet with each guest in advance to go over with them my House Policy and how to use these modern technological appliance and equipment. I checked the Kitchen equipment and my Housekeeper checked the dishwasher and Oven they are all working fine. My dishwasher is a custom specialty appliance and it must be closed correctly before it will operate. My oven timer must be set correctly before the oven will turn on. Nevertheless, I have a micro wave oven and a toaster oven that can be used as a backup if necessary. I want my guest to have a wonderful stay in my home and I provide them with the best facilities and the best rate for the value received in Hana. My home is designed after the award winning Hawaiian energy efficient house and is designed to give you a feel of living in the tropics. It is very private yet with great views of the ocean and mountains, with a 4 feet over hang and louvers and screens throughout. If you check on Google map of my home on the internet, my home is set back 300 feet from the road, it is off the ground 10 feet and it is surrounded by open space on all sides with plants surrounding it. You cannot see directly into the house yet you still have a 180 degree view of the ocean from the living room and bedroom room and you have a feeling of being outdoors. Aloha Lee

Great place for families.

We enjoyed three wonderful nights here in August 2010. This place was perfect for two couples traveling with children. Plenty of room to spread out and the furnishings weren't SO nice that it wasn't a comfortable place to have the kids running around. Hot tub, hammock, and swings were great! Highly recommended.

Loved it! Will go again and tell our friends!

We stayed at Hana Aloha Hale for our honeymoon and it absolutely lives up to its name, Magic Love House. I can see why Honeymoon Magazine named Makaale’a point which lies right in front of the house as being the most Romantic scenic spot along the Hana Coast. Then we heard Hana was named the most romantic location in the nation this year and realized that we have been blessed to experience the Garden of Eden. It truly is and we will go back again and tell our friends. We’re still breathless with the love and aloha of the beautiful landscape, morning sunrise and natural settings that we came across along the coast. The home is just outside of Hana town and close enough to two awesome beaches and natural swimming pool at the edge of the ocean. What an amazing adventure! We also loved the owners genuine aloha spirit. Mahalo.
