Hunt for shells along the miles of beach or just relax with a book.The choice is yours. The cottage features a gazebo on the beach close to the waters edge. Beach towels and chairs are provided. The cottage is furnished with new rattan furniture. Queen size bookcase bed. Full tiled bath with shower and hair dryer. Fully furnished kitchen and outdoor charcoal grill. The windward (Atlantic) side is the preferred side of the island. Double Bay boasts a beautiful pink sand beach and sparkling turquoise water just steps from the cottage. There are two miles of secluded beach for walking, swimming, snorkeling, surf fishing, and beautiful scuba diving. Only a two mile drive into Palmetto point for shopping and local restaurants. Eluethera is 100 miles long and averages two miles wide, a short drive takes you from the Atlantic to the Caribbean for excellent shelling and exploring. With a two hour drive to either end of the island to visit Lighthouse point to your south or Harbor Island to the north. Harbor Island hosts resorts, boutiques, and restaurants. To the North you can explore caves or go to Surfers Beach in Gregory Town which has the best surfing on the island. You can hook up with the local fishermen to take you out deep sea or bottom fishing for some of the best fishing around. The Bahamian natives are friendly and little crime takes place here

How to get here:

Getting here is easy, there are direct flights from Florida and Nassau plus Bahamas Ferries service from Nassau. Eleuthera has 3 airports - Rock Sound (IATA airport code RSD), Governor's Harbour International Airport (IATA airport code GHB) which is the nearest to our cottage in Double Bay, and North Eleuthera (IATA airport code ELH)

From the UK

British Airways operate a daily direct flight from London Heathrow to Nassau. Other options would be to fly direct to Miami via British Airways, Virgin Atlantic, American Airlines or Continental and get a connecting flight from Ft Lauderdale.

Seasonal Climate:

In general the weather in the Bahamas is wonderful throughout the year. The summers are kept from getting too hot by the constant cooling trade winds. The summer temperature in the Bahamas rarely goes above 90°F (32°C). The climate in winter is mild with lows of around 60°F (16°C). The hurricane season runs between June and November and rain storms are likely during this period.

The cottage was sweet and accommodated us very well. The place was clean and very private. We too would have liked to have had an outdoor shower, because it is hard not to track sand in the place. To remedy this, we kept a full pitcher of water out on the deck to pour water over our feet before coming in. The shower water pressure was practically non existent, but we got over it. Also, we brought our lab top, but the Wi-Fi wasn't on. We ended up driving around looking for an internet cafe. The overall experience was very good though. The owners seem to care about the place. The price was right, the beach was absolutely stunning and we felt very safe. (except when we was saw the seven foot ray and the eight foot bull shark while snorkeling!) Thank you. We would love to come back.

We had the place to ourselves

Well appointed, intimate cottage, set away from the main house, about 75 feet, maybe 200 feet to the ocean. Property would be improved by a pool, or an outdoor shower for the cottage. Indoor shower didn't have great water pressure. Kitchen was tiny but had everything we needed. Use of kayaks a nice bonus to the lovely beach.
