Quiet wilderness on historic rice plantation and sawmill property, and a floating dock and house with every convenience. Deer, turkey, and more than 300 varieties of flowers, trees, and plants make this riverfront hideaway ideal for either relaxing, boating, or visiting the area attractions such as Cumberland Island, St. Simon's Island, Jekyll Island, the Okefenokee Swamp, and historic St. Marys.
We stayed at Bailey's Mill for the Thanksgiving week. Plenty of wildlife to enjoy as well as being very peaceful and relaxing. Two canoes for river adventures and a large dock for fishing and bird watching. The house had everything we needed and was exactly as promised. Clean - very well kept up to date - and comfortable. Our two boys really enjoyed themselves and said they wanted to bring friends along next time.
The small town of Woodbine is quaint, but we spent the majority of our shopping and restaurant visits on Amelia Island and in Jacksonville - which are easy daytrips from Bailey's Mill. Plenty to do and see.
My family of 5 stayed here in the summer of 2013 and I never wrote a review (the site made be put a date on this but would not allow the actual date). I rely on reviews to rent our vacation homes so I thought I would leave one. The property is on a several mile long sandy/dirt road without street lights or other traffic generally. Wildlife is usually out and about (owls, and other). The home is well furnished with nice linens and furniture. The home has thoughtfuly equipped with board games and added emergency items like candles and matches. We arrived just ahead of a strong storm on a dark night and did lose power. You will encounter bugs/spiders, wildlife outside but we did not encounter anything inside the home. This is a beautiful location and a beautiful lovely home. Charlie was great to work with.
What a great Thanksgiving weekend our family enjoyed at this secluded home on the beautiful Satilla River. If you want to get away for some quiet time with nature, this is the place. The living space was cozy and had extra blankets to cuddle up in. Plenty of books to read or games to play. The kitchen has all you need to cook with. We enjoyed kayaking and playing cards in the evening. The home provided plenty of towels and supplies you would need. Pack your clothes and stock up on the yummy food you want to enjoy. Stop by the store on your way in for any last minute items, so you won't have to leave if you don't want to leave!! We are glad we had our SUV because the road was muddy due to the heavy rains the previous day. Finally the view off the dock was so beautiful and tranquil to enjoy a cup of coffee in the morning with the sun just shining down on the river!! This place says RELAX!
We arrived at Baily Mill for a planned group kayak on the Satilla River. Wow what a great place. The house is beautiful and for us kayakers the perfect place to stay. Right on the river, great launch dock and a very comfortable house for our post paddle celebrations. You are really out in the woods, no technology, we had the camping experience without the tent part staying in a clean, beautiful home. They stock everything you could possibly need. Just bring your clothes and food... They even have kayaks!
Thank you for sharing your amazing piece of heaven here on earth with us. My family and I all enjoyed a wonderful time at Bailey's Mill. We enjoyed the tranquility of the peaceful nature that surrounds the house on all sides, whether you were looking out the kitchen window or the large glass opening in the back of the house, the view was spectacular! The outside deck proved to be an excellent place for reading a great book and enjoying a morning cup of coffee. The floating dock was most memorable at midnight on 12/31/2012 when we all wished each other a Happy New Year. We were able to enjoy wonderful dinners together using the fully stocked kitchen and gas grill. The owners were most accomdating and very easy to work with. The experience was a great getaway for my family and I and gave us a way to reflect on the past. We couldnt think of any other way we would have wanted to bring in the new year! Thanks again for an amazing time and we will definately be back!
This will be our fifth year at Bailey Mill. Definitely a piece of heaven on earth. The perfect place to mend your spirits and heal your soul. Peace and quiet are the order of each day with plenty of fun mixed it. Canoeing, fishing, exploring, it's all available right on the property. For those that enjoy privacy, it's here. Check it out for yourself.
If you need more stimulation, it's all within 30 minutes away.
