This was the first home situated on this secluded stretch of White Sound beach, built in 1981. The home and its grounds have been maintained and updated constantly and, since its construction, has been fit with all the modern amenities such as A/C, Wifi Internet and satellite television, as well as a phone (only the 2nd phone to exist on the island). Over the years, time and storms have pushed the shoreline closer and closer to the property, offering uniquely spectacular views from the front porch, which is about 40 ft from high tide. The property is situated perfectly between the charming village of Hopetown and the serene white sands of Tahiti beach, with bars, restaurants, and shopping in between. Although this is a walker's paradise, the island is dominated by golfcarts, which can be rented right up the road. The 2nd level of St. Somewhere is a surrounded by windows, offering a 360 degree views of the island and its beauty. The expansive front deck is excellent for spreading out and relaxing with a drink and good book, or for enjoying meals 'with a view' on the picnic table, partially shaded by an arbor outside the dining room.
Wow. Our vacation to Elbow Cay was certainly one to remember. The house is well-equipped and perfectly located. Everything is either a golf cart or boat ride away. The view of the Atlantic from the house is without comparison. We watched the sun rise in the morning and stared at the spectacular array of stars every night. The wifi was a nice amenity for staying in contact with family back home.
As soon as we pulled down the winding driveway we were in another world. This was our first time out of the country and it so amazing to know that Elbow Cay is so close to our Alabama. Right when we pulled in we threw on our fins, masks and snorkel and jumped into the Atlantic. We saw more tropical fish than you could imagine. Right out your back door. This house is a 2 minute golf cart ride to the north community dock. We had our boat there all week. Plenty of room and no worries with others messing with the boat. Also, the food is quite different in the Bahamas. Mackey's Takeout is literally a 45 second golf cart ride. They have wonderful food and stay open late. There is a grocery store and Liquor store around the corner. There are a few restaurants on the south side of the island. The restaurants in Hopetown are fantastic but Firefly is the way to go. Its on the west side of the island right on the water. Fantastic food and great drinks. Groceries are about 30-40% more and eating out is probably 15-20% than in the States. Well worth it though. Its all part of the experience. St. Somewhere is such a great property. There were six of us. Plenty of room. By the time we got in from free diving, spearfishing and boating all day we were excited to be back at this house. It literally feels like home after a couple days with all the amenities. Direct Tv on a big flat screen, washer and dryer, a huge deck on the back overlooking the Atlantic. Everything you need is at this house. Such a reasonable price for the house also. I did a stupid amount of research on every house on the island. It is the best for the money. Stay at this house. You will not be disappointed.
This property and island deserve a 5 star rating. My husband and 23 year old son and myself felt right at home in St. Somewhere. There are two lovely bedrooms on the first floor and an incredible cuppola on the 2nd floor with two twin beds. Rooms are decorated beautifully and so comfortable. The two full bathrooms added to the comfort. Great living room with two eating areas. The best is the gorgeous views of the ocean from onside the house and from a large deck across the back of the house. Its gorgeous and we were in heaven. The house is immaculate and has everything one would need plus the washer and dryer. Although there isn't a telephone there is a vhf system that is easily useable. There is wifi so sending emails to make reservations is easy. Golf carts provided us with great transportation. Several eateries are only 5 to ten minutes away. Town is filled with possibilities. Hope Town is amazing. The people are low keyed and Jeff the owner and Steve the manager met all our need with kindness. We all love St. Somewhere and the island. Plan to return for a month next year.
This was our second visit to Elbow Cay and our first time staying on the island. After spending a week at St. Somewhere, we hope to come back and would definitely stay at the house again. The accommodations were perfect for us. We had 5 adults and two children and spent countless hours sitting on the deck looking out at the views of the water. We were also fortunate to be there when there was a full moon and every night we saw a spectacular moon rise over the water. We were even treated to a full lunar eclipse one night. After walking up and down the beach, I can say without hesitation that St. Somewhere has one of the best strips of beach and arguably the best view when compared with any of the other properties. Certainly it is one of the best bargains to be found on the island as well.
Jeff was very easy to work with and very accommodating. The caretaker, Steve, was available to us whenever we had questions or needed anything taken care of. He also went to extraordinary lengths to help return a few items that we accidentally left behind and we are extremely grateful to him for his efforts and kindness.
The beds were comfortable and there were plenty of extra linens and towels. While the kitchen is a bit old fashioned, it does have everything needed to prepare meals for a nice stay. The washer and dryer provided are a huge bonus for the house as many of the other properties do not have them available.
A golf cart makes getting around the island a breeze. We enjoyed wonderful Bahamian style meals at The Abaco Inn, The Firefly and The Sea Spray Marina. Some of our favorite meals ended up being from Papa Nasty's BBQ, a take out place just around the corner which has excellent ribs and pulled pork. If you have a boat, consider going to Pete's Pub in Little Harbor and Cracker P's on Lubber's Quarters.
Honestly, I can't say enough nice things about St. Somewhere. It provided a perfect location for our family gathering and we all hope to be able to return again soon.
Fantastic location, just a short golf cart ride to either end of the island. Awesome deck with outdoor dining just steps away from the beach. The care taker was readily available and very helpful. We loved the food & drinks at the Abaco Inn and On Da Beach has great margaritas! Tahiti Beach is a must with kids at low tide. We would love to come back!!
What could be better than white sand, blue water, cool breezes, fabulous views and a great porch as a place to sit and take it all in?! If that's what you want, this house offers it all! And by simply throwing open the four huge sliding doors on the beach side of the house, the whole living space becomes part of the surrounding landscape. At night, the ocean waves lull you to sleep and can be heard in all three sleeping spaces. Our family of six enjoyed a week's stay on this island with this house as our home base. We chartered a boat with a captain for a day which afforded us the opportunity to learn some history and view sea life, snorkel, fish and explore nearby islands. We easily walked to both ends of the island for exercise and adventure. A rented golf cart gave easy access to the restaurants that were scattered throughout the island. Our favorite places to eat were the Abaco Inn, Hopetown Lodge, and Firefly. But do NOT miss the take out from Mackey's kitchen, just a hop, skip and jump from the front door of this cottage.
