CHARMING BEACHFRONT HOME WITH SPECTACULAR VIEWS, WALKING DISTANCE FROM HOPETOWN

Elbow Cay and Hope Town House Rental Photos and Description

3 bedrooms, 2 full bath, sleeps 6 comfortably but room for 8

This was the first home situated on this secluded stretch of White Sound beach, built in 1981. The home and its grounds have been maintained and updated constantly and, since its construction, has been fit with all the modern amenities such as A/C, Wifi Internet and satellite television, as well as a phone (only the 2nd phone to exist on the island). Over the years, time and storms have pushed the shoreline closer and closer to the property, offering uniquely spectacular views from the front porch, which is about 40 ft from high tide. The property is situated perfectly between the charming village of Hopetown and the serene white sands of Tahiti beach, with bars, restaurants, and shopping in between. Although this is a walker's paradise, the island is dominated by golfcarts, which can be rented right up the road. The 2nd level of St. Somewhere is a surrounded by windows, offering a 360 degree views of the island and its beauty. The expansive front deck is excellent for spreading out and relaxing with a drink and good book, or for enjoying meals 'with a view' on the picnic table, partially shaded by an arbor outside the dining room.

Suitability:
  • non smoking only
  • Minimum Age Limit for Renters
  • Long-term Renters Welcome
  • wheelchair inaccessible

AMAZING

  • 5 of 5
This property and island deserve a 5 star rating. My husband and 23 year old son and myself felt right at home in St. Somewhere. There are two lovely bedrooms on the first floor and an incredible cuppola on the 2nd floor with two twin beds. Rooms are decorated beautifully and so comfortable. The two full bathrooms added to the comfort. Great living room with two eating areas. The best is the gorgeous views of the ocean from onside the house and from a large deck across the back of the house. Its gorgeous and we were in heaven. The house is immaculate and has everything one would need plus the washer and dryer. Although there isn't a telephone there is a vhf system that is easily useable. There is wifi so sending emails to make reservations is easy. Golf carts provided us with great transportation. Several eateries are only 5 to ten minutes away. Town is filled with possibilities. Hope Town is amazing. The people are low keyed and Jeff the owner and Steve the manager met all our need with kindness. We all love St. Somewhere and the island. Plan to return for a month next year.

PERFECT SPOT TO STAY ON ELBOW CAY!

  • 5 of 5
This was our second visit to Elbow Cay and our first time staying on the island. After spending a week at St. Somewhere, we hope to come back and would definitely stay at the house again. The accommodations were perfect for us. We had 5 adults and two children and spent countless hours sitting on the deck looking out at the views of the water. We were also fortunate to be there when there was a full moon and every night we saw a spectacular moon rise over the water. We were even treated to a full lunar eclipse one night. After walking up and down the beach, I can say without hesitation that St. Somewhere has one of the best strips of beach and arguably the best view when compared with any of the other properties. Certainly it is one of the best bargains to be found on the island as well.
Jeff was very easy to work with and very accommodating. The caretaker, Steve, was available to us whenever we had questions or needed anything taken care of. He also went to extraordinary lengths to help return a few items that we accidentally left behind and we are extremely grateful to him for his efforts and kindness.
The beds were comfortable and there were plenty of extra linens and towels. While the kitchen is a bit old fashioned, it does have everything needed to prepare meals for a nice stay. The washer and dryer provided are a huge bonus for the house as many of the other properties do not have them available.
A golf cart makes getting around the island a breeze. We enjoyed wonderful Bahamian style meals at The Abaco Inn, The Firefly and The Sea Spray Marina. Some of our favorite meals ended up being from Papa Nasty's BBQ, a take out place just around the corner which has excellent ribs and pulled pork. If you have a boat, consider going to Pete's Pub in Little Harbor and Cracker P's on Lubber's Quarters.
Honestly, I can't say enough nice things about St. Somewhere. It provided a perfect location for our family gathering and we all hope to be able to return again soon.

Stunning Views! Charming & Private!

Fantastic location, just a short golf cart ride to either end of the island. Awesome deck with outdoor dining just steps away from the beach. The care taker was readily available and very helpful. We loved the food & drinks at the Abaco Inn and On Da Beach has great margaritas! Tahiti Beach is a must with kids at low tide. We would love to come back!!

YOU CAN'T BEAT THIS PORCH AND THESE VIEWS!

You can't beat this porch and these views!

What could be better than white sand, blue water, cool breezes, fabulous views and a great porch as a place to sit and take it all in?! If that's what you want, this house offers it all! And by simply throwing open the four huge sliding doors on the beach side of the house, the whole living space becomes part of the surrounding landscape. At night, the ocean waves lull you to sleep and can be heard in all three sleeping spaces. Our family of six enjoyed a week's stay on this island with this house as our home base. We chartered a boat with a captain for a day which afforded us the opportunity to learn some history and view sea life, snorkel, fish and explore nearby islands. We easily walked to both ends of the island for exercise and adventure. A rented golf cart gave easy access to the restaurants that were scattered throughout the island. Our favorite places to eat were the Abaco Inn, Hopetown Lodge, and Firefly. But do NOT miss the take out from Mackey's kitchen, just a hop, skip and jump from the front door of this cottage.

THE PICTURES DO NOT DO THIS PROPERTY JUSTICE!!!

This home was an amazing find!! Situated right on the beach, and completely private. My Mom, a good friend and I celebrated my birthday here. We cooked, drank, ate, slept, swam and read at this little piece of paradise. The home has 4 sliding doors that all open up to invite the sound of crashing waves into the home. The living, dining and kitchen rooms all orient toward the amazing views of the water. It is a charming Beach 50's style home. We rented the golf cart, and enjoyed toodling around town. We reached "Down Deep" on the CB radio, and she delivered fresh fish to The Abaco Inn for us. The Abaco Inn was the best meal we ate out...the Ahi Tuna...mmmm! Food is expensive here, but that is true everywhere. We enjoyed the fabulous coffee at The Coffee House, and even bought some back with us.

WONDERFUL RETURN TO PARADISE!

  • 5 of 5
If you're looking for the best seaside house to have fun and relax on the island, this is it! We hadn't been back to Elbow Cay in 25 years and although there are more houses and a handful of new restaurants, we felt like we were being welcomed home and started feeling that amazing sense of excitement the minute we got off the ferry from Marsh Harbor.
The owner, Jeff, did everything right to make our stay the very best it could be! The house was perfect for us (4 adults) as it would be for any group, any age. St Somewhere is indeed the best name for this getaway because it's close to everything yet as far away from reality as you'd like it to be. The house was neat, clean and well-decorated in that homey, comfortable, beachy way that only comes from quality furnishings perfectly appointed. The floor to ceiling glass sliding doors that run across the back of the house bring the sights, smells and sounds of the ocean right inside the living room, kitchen and dining area. Our favorite place was the large deck that wraps around the back and side of the house, overlooking the ocean. Many a cocktail was enjoyed there along with good books and hearty laughter!
At night we opened the windows to our rooms and let the breeze in...never slept so soundly. We regret that we didn't sleep up in the cupola where all 4 windows could be opened and a million stars could be seen. The kitchen had everything we needed, the bathrooms and showers worked great and the wifi was there if we needed it. A really great open, bright and airy house!
We loved eating appetizers of conch fritters and grouper fingers almost everywhere we went. The Abaco Inn, Firefly, SeaBreeze, The Hope Town Inn and Marina and the Hope Town Harbor Lodge all served amazing food with lots of variety. In addition to incredible fresh fish, every restaurant served chicken, beef, pork or lamb, and in some cases pizza. The wait staffs couldn't be friendlier and the views from every seat were nothing but spectacular.
We walked the island end to end and went swimming out to the coral reefs at Hope Town Harbor Lodge and waded in the water in front of the house. Our walk through the town gave us the feeling that the island has stood still in time - so charming and quaint. And of course, just watching the activity in the harbor was fantastic!
We loved where St Somewhere was located on the island and couldn't have asked for better accommodations. We now look to return to this paradise every year!
